Hey Mello, I can’t thank you enough for making this awesome video! I only use my ’94 4-cylinder Hardbody about once a month but it’s been running like crap all summer - rough idle, no power, engine dancing all over the place at idle, felt like it was running on three cylinders (and it was!) I replaced the air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor with no change. I finally took it to a shop for diagnosis. They told me one of the injectors was shot and they wanted $460 to replace the one and $1100 for the whole set. I checked TH-cam and found your video. I picked up the truck and paid for the diagnosis. A few hours later it was running better than it had in the eight years I’ve had it since inheriting it from my dad. I think I could balance a coin on the engine now and it has all kinds of power again! Just a couple of things I’ll add that might be useful to some: 1) when doing the final tightening of the two screws on the fuel bar I would suggest a hand ratchet and going little by little while alternating between the two to help keep those gaskets happy and 2) On my truck the wiring harness was really in the way of getting those pesky clips back on. I found a great solution where you can remove the connector and start the clip about a quarter of an inch on each side while you have complete access then put the connector on the injector and finish it off by pushing with your finger as you did in the video. Thanks again! I couldn't be any happier about the results and you saved me over $800. By the way, I got all four from Auto Zone for $274.
Amazing video a year later and you still helping me out! Just picked up a 1992 d21 2.4l 4 cylinder and the fuel injectors needed to be cleaned. I'm thinking about replacing them here soon with the Hitachi injectors but their website makes me skeptical since they label it 1993-1994 d21. I mean from my understanding its the same motor and I dont think there would be an issue since its also the same oem part number but everywhere i go they say "does not fit your vehicle" so makes me second guess myself.
Thanks for posting this video. I have the same truck and would not take a million dollars for it, but it would probably take a million bucks to get it in good running order. I use it for everything and everybody around knows my truck, it has become part of the neighborhood. Anyway, the reason for the reply, my speedometer indicator is also bent like yours. I think the heat got to it, and of course, I am also going to replace my fuel injectors. If you can think of anything else that might help, please send me a note. Again, Great Video! FR
Thank you for your kind words. I plan on posting some more cool instructional videos that I hope help if you run into any future problems. If you have any requests for a particular video let us know.
Great vid. Thank you! It always helps having a guide. Where did u get the hitachi injectors?? I’ve looked everywhere online I can think.. The dealership wants $280 each. Not hitachi. Where??
What seals did you use. I didn't see you replacing them. I bought the same set of injectors. See if it fixes my very bad idle and running rich. 97k on it. Original owner. 1991 D21. Thanks for the video!
I got some garbage seals from a local auto parts store that didn’t fit very well so I ended up using the original seals and just lubricated them with some engine oil. Glad you enjoyed the videos and it’s awesome to hear you're the original owner, these trucks last forever.
I have a 1997 D21 with the 2.4. It’s less than a hundred miles from hitting a quarter million miles. Is there some trick to getting the screws to loosen up, Because I have even tried one of those impact screwdrivers and came up empty.
Hello I had changed the fuel filter and pump to my d21 and it still sometimes act up doesn’t want to turn on do you think it’s the injectors are messed up now?
Thank you sir. Couldnt find this video for my ka24e, reading some forums I found out the layout of this engine and the ka24e are pretty much the same. You add ka24e to your video name.
A warning to anyone who has a D21 with "California Emissions," your fuel rail will be very different (8 more small screws) and the injectors will be 1 inch shorter. AND hard to find, like impossible to find. Plenty of injectors for the other 49 states. But I don't live in CALIF, maybe if I lived there I would have better luck?
Hey! So I got a 95’ hardbody and I have the rough idle issue and I’m sure it’s my fuel injectors. but I found some hitachi ones that look just like yours but apparently it’s for a 94’ hardbody, would you think it’ll fit mine? I think so cause they look the exact same and the engine the same.
My truck is surging after it gets to warm temps I already replaced the air idl control not a fix . I was having trouble starting it but then that cleared . When I drive it down the high way my rpms go all the way down like the truck tuned off the jumps back up to normal . I can smell like it's running rich maybe one of the injections if not spraying correctly . Not sure will find out soon they all seem to be firing but could be clogged
Yeah, this might help but if not I wouldn't rule out fuel being one of the culprits (could be a vacuum leak or the MAF(easy to fix or clean)). I sometimes have intermittent surging problems now and then, this helped me clear up the surging a lot but not completely. I may change the fuel pump eventually to see if the gets rid of my similar problem completely.
@@mellomotorsport141 Nope, they did not work as spected and I stopped singing the bad injector blues when I installed OEM injectors straight from the local dealer at a modest $130.00 a piece, now I can save gas like I should, I appreciate your link brother. Thanks!
Hey man can you hook me up with the Amazon link? Got a 92 but can only find 93/94 parts. Also I've seen a bunch without that metal casing on the outside... No good?
@@CptLang97 A couple of tips. Always start bolts by hand before applying impact. Cuts down on cross threading. Also put your retainer clip back on the plug while you have it disconnected from the injector. Then just push the connector back down on to the injector. The clip will jump over the tang on the injector and you will hear a little click telling you the connector locked in place.
So sorry I took so long to get you guys the link but here you go: www.amazon.com/dp/B00GTHREMA/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glt_fabc_SWBB6QPG5ZTB4M38S4XD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Got a nissan 4x4 v6 with 186k miles for 3k bucks. Owner wanted 4.2k but i caught a few defects. It shakes at idle, smells a lot like gasoline. Checked the ecu for codes and it gives me #51, #33.

Great video, thanks. I found that starting the staple shaped clips in the harness first, before putting them on the injectors makes it alot easier.

thanks you for this video i recently bought a d21 and this video did the trick luckily I did not lose any of my fuel injector clips lol
Lol, glad I could help.

Thanks for posting this video, I have been looking for this. How much did the new injectors cost you and where did you buy them? Thank you again.
Hey, I got the set from Amazon for $250.
Thanks for the vid man. Been having an issue idling so I plan on using this vid as a guide to do my injectors
Can you do a video on where all the air lines go too? The lines that go to the throttle, the oil catch can and to the air emission system
Great video..Thanks for posting..not as hard as I first thought it would be
Glad I could help!! Older cars were built to be worked on, much easier than working on anything new.

It's easier to get the clips off etc if you take the fuel rail first , and you don't lose things do easy
I have a 95 D21 hardbody pickup, and was hoping you could tell me where you bought Hitachi fuel injectors
Thank you! Good video.
Does this principle of work apply for a Nissan hardbody 95?
No

I’ve noticed that pretty much everything California does goes against all logical thinking.

Surging issue . Radiator cap ?
Can you put a link for where you ordered yours from?
What was the issue as to why you replace them thanks

Got a 94 D21 4 cylinder had about 20 years got the same problem run rich ww as the Hitachi expensive
i have a 93 d21 4 cylinder and it run’s soggy might have to replace my injectors and spark plugs
would u happen to kno what would work for 1986 d21
I bought some off ebay for $80 hope they work well
Why did you replace the injectors with more expense one ? Did the one you bought for less not work ?
Yes, the cheaper ones I got made the engine take a long time to start up, similar to how a carburated engine would. Hope the video helped.
I bought some from e bay and they don't work for shit.
Can you give us an update and a link to amazon to get those oem injectors?
Let me know if this link works:

90-94 is all interchangeable for the engine parts

Why did just a rad cap cause surging?
Thank you for you help 100
I like to cover the throttle body so nothing falls in.

WOW!! Great deal. I have never checked my OBD1 ECU codes, but I hope you get it sorted out.
Error code 51 is injector circuit; code 33 is oxygen sensor. You must know that buy now (so long ago, but nobody replied ?)
My personal experience
Es americana y es el mismo motor de la paloma .
Bad radiator cap caused surging
???
