I love your enthusiasm, it's contagious :) You should know that each of us has a favorite singer, but at the same time we realize that there is no competition between the 3 singers, but only 3 "eras" of Nightwish, each of them with its own "flavor". This unique diversity is largely due to the creative genius of Tuomas, which has manifested for more than a quarter of a century already, creating a real ocean of good music.
Marko spoke Finnish and said "hey, this is the guy who wrote the whole song, mister Tuomas Holopainen!". Knew it you will lose it when you see Emppu's wink! 😂
Story about how it all started. Clip from their book: ------ In 1996, Tarja was on her Christmas holiday in Kitee. "I had spent the semester in the church music department of the Sibelius Academy in Kuopio. It was a really cold day in Kitee. Tuomas rang our doorbell, I remember him wearing a green parka and combat boots. He modestly told me he wanted to talk to me about something. He had brought a couple of cassettes with him and asked me if I could maybe listen to them. The music turned out to be really beautiful." Tuomas remembers that Tarja immediately agreed to join the band. Having no clear idea on the vocal melodies, Tuomas basically gave Tarja the task to figure them out herself. "There were three songs on the demo, and one of them was called 'Nightwish'", Tarja recalls. "Tuomas gave me the lyrics and backing tracks and said that he had a certain melody in mind, but I was welcome to come up with my own interpretation." At the time, the goals were not set too high. "The whole thing was supposed to be just an experiment - we'd record a demo and maybe sent it out to some record companies", Tuomas says. "There were no plans whatsoever to play gigs or to aim towards anything more serious. Tarja figured it would take maybe two days for her to sing the songs in the studio." "Tuomas called me and said that we have a vocalist", engineer Tero Kinnunen recalls. "I remember the Saturday morning we sat there waiting for her. A car pulled up to the yard, and out came a woman wearing a fur coat. I thought it was some granny in her thirties, but then I saw her face and noticed that it definitely wasn't the case. I believe Tarja was 17 or 18 at the time. The Huvikeskus studio in Kitee wasn't anything like it is today. The control room was in the theater, so we set up a mic there and started recording." Tarja went through the vocal melodies with the boys, and when the time came for her to start singing, the guys' jaws dropped to the floor. "It was such a shock for us when she first started to sing", Tuomas thinks back with awe. "I thought we were going to hear a clear, young, beautiful, girly voice in the style of Kari Rueslåtten or something - instead, Tarja had a high-pitched, bombastic voice that was already very dramatic and classical. She surprised us completely."
Also the fact that Tuomas and Emppu started with a keyboard and acoustic guitar. When they first heard Tarja's voice they realised the acoustic guitar was no good and the need for an electric guitar was born. Symphonic metal was basically born at this time.
About her range: Tarja in these videos is in her 20s, now that she's in her 40s she also uses a lot more of a range, her chest voice is stronger and she is comfortable enough to play around vocally. She was a classical singer in the middle of her training who was thrown into a metal band and had to learn how to swim, basically :') And then of course her operatic singing became their unqiue element.
Well said. This is the classical Nightwish that made them famous and well known and it was mostly for Tarja. Though I have to say Floor is usually better in live performances. Maybe it's a matter of time and that the audience is demanding higher and higher quality from live performances. Tarja of course has a very strong accent, but that always was part of the deal. I can understand that Floors much clearer pronunciation may be more pleasing to new listeners. Though as you said Tarja has a "stronger" voice. Tarja classics like Nemo, Kinslayer or Wishmaster just don't sound the same with Floor. The songs weren't written for her unlike the new ones. Though she certainly made Ghost Love Score her own :)
@@Bunny99s Even with Ghost Love Score, apart from the ending which Floor really nails, I tend to like Tarja's voice for that song because it has that fantastical, whimsical feel to it whereas Floor gives GLS a more modern spin. It's like The Lord of the Rings "vs" Game of Thrones, I suppose. One has a more dreamy, otherworldy feel and the other one is grittier, rawer. In the end both of them are great singers, they just give many songs a very different atmosphere and which one speaks to you really depends :) Same with Anette, I think her voice too gives especially the "celtic" Nightwish songs such an innocent touch, while Floor sounds more mature in her voice so again, very different feeling. I think we're lucky to have so many songs and versions of songs to choose from and enjoy! :)
Another good one for Tarja is "Sleeping Sun" but i think watching the official music video for Nemo would be worth doing. Starting to realise what you have got yourself into? The songs just keep getting better and better.
there are Nightwish Fans, and there are Tarja Fans, Anette Fans and a lot of Floor Fans ... i am Nightwish Fan, i love every era they had, and it looks like this love will continue due to the effect, "Perfum of the Timeless" had left on me
Emppu is the guy who can, between two notes: - take a nap - Drink a Corona - Jump from the drumset - play a full game of GTA: San andreas - blow out all the candles of his birthday cake
@zebulonmcfly9213 You forgot to add that he can also prank Floor by unplugging her ear-bud/monitor while performing live. . (Not sure why, "Mr. Emmpu the Prankster" prefers that his beer actually tastes like beer when he performs live though....)
This song is where I started with Nightwish back in 2004. Tarja’s accent drew me in immediately. I saw them a few months before this concert. They were amazing, and I have loved them ever since.
Tarja is a classically trained lyrical soprano. She was always leaning more towards classical music and has had a nice career in that field alongside with metal. Like she one`s said, she got the best of both worlds. I don`t think it would be healthy for her to do those screams, and why should she? It`s not her thing. You`ll understand one`s you here her singing songs like Mein Herr Marquise, Vilja Lied or Pie Jesu, or O` Holy Night from her latest album Dark Christmas. From this concert, please check Wishmaster and Slaying the dreamer and from The Summer Breeze festival 2002, End of all hope. Also Supremacy (Muse cover) from Woodstock 2016 to hear her beautiful lower chest voice. And Shadow Play she wrote and performed playing a piano.
If you wanna go all the way back to their first professionally recorded concert, the "From Wishes to Eternity" concert is wonderful! It's remastered on the Nightwish Arena channel. They're all 22/23 there :) Fantasmic III (great Tuomas moment!) or Beauty and the Beast (a song from their very first album!) or Deep Silent Complete (so soothing, so beautiful) or Wanderlust (sweet band moments)
For more Tarja try Deep Silent Complete, Walking in the Air, and Swanheart (all from Live Wishes to Eternity). I'm a Floor Jansen fanboy, but my God Tarja is so f**king good too. Was waiting for your reaction to Emppu's wink and swig of wine 😂 ...that always gets a chuckle. By the way your cats are hilarious
Thank you! Nemo is my favourite song from Nightwish!!❤ Yes, both Floor and Tarja are incredible vocalists! Unique in their own ways. To really hear what Tarja can do, you need to listen to songs from her solo career. Her voice has grown even more powerful. Tarja uses more of her chest voice nowadays. A good song and live performance is a song called Victim of Ritual, live from Woodstock 2016.... so that would be 11 years after this concert here.
My favourite metal bands are Nightwish and Within Temptation. I grow up with Tarja voice that was captivated my heart. In that days, she was one of the best artists for sure. You should react to Tarja featuring with Within Temptation (song Paradise What about us?) Both bands have an amazing catalogue of great songs. You will love it. A big hug 🫂
Some Tarja's songs with Nightwish that I pretty sure recomends for you to react are - Sleeping Sun from this same show (the magic on that it's insane) - Planet Hell (same show) - Slaying The Dreamer (same show) - Dead Boy's Poem, it's a beautifull and deep song - She is my Sin - Elvenpath/Fantasmic This three from the live DVD From Wishes to Eternity
If you like Symphonic Metal, you could also try hear the dutch band Within Temptation with Iron (Live) with live orchestra and chorus or Paradise ft Tarja (Live at Hellfest)
Happy to see You anytime in my house. :D There are no days without Nightwish, Kamelot, Epica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Queen or other great bands/artist in my life. Greetings from Hungary
Just remember - you never have to choose a favorite female Nightwish singer. All 3 were and are phenomenal, and on a level very very few are even close to. They have different styles, and that colors the stories they tell - and therefore you might prefer 1 version at a certain listening. But then - you hear another version that gives you a new angle/dimension on the story - and that one becomes ypur favorite version. Then you hear a third version....... It is the version you are listening to, that are your new favorite. That's Nightwish. As you said during The Greatest Show on Earth - they are giving experiences - not singing a song. Spot on.
I love Tarja's accent and the special essence she adds to any song. Whilst it is true that Tarja's vocals were slightly restricted within the confines of NW, you can see how incredibly versatile she is in her solo career where she has been set free to sing as she truly chooses. It is difficult to not only have classical, operatic, chill out/electronic, acoustic, rock and metal releases but also to be brilliant at all these genres without being incredibly versatile. Again, when it comes to power, you need to check out her solo career to see her in her element and for her to demonstrate her true abilities.
@@FromG2eminor I agree that her solo work is much better too. She has taken big steps forward with her vocals, creativity and presence since going solo.
@@sandyegun3780 That is absolutely fine. Everyone has the right to choose, so no one should pressurise you other wise. As this is a reaction involving Tarja, I prefer to talk about her and not compare her with anyone else.
@@FromG2eminor Agreed. While there will always be an accent with someone originating from Finland hers was always really strong and at times it was really distracting. When they remastered Sleeping Sun I think -05 the way she pronounced some of the words was just awful. She's way better now, that must be said.
You should also listen to Floor's performance of Nemo from Wacken 2013. And throwing picks to the audience is an Emppu trademark - he must go through hundreds every show!
Yep. Tarja was a founding member and sang with Nightwish for near 10 (ten) years. Her voice was very highly rated during that time (3 and a half octave range)
No, Tarja was not a co-founder, she was just asked if she wanted to join. At that time she didn't have 3 1/2 octaves. She learned 3 octaves over the years.
Tarja still performs many Nightwish songs live today. there is a video of one such song, "Over the Hills and Far Away" if I recall, where her good friend Floor joins her onstage!
I agree. Tarja is Great. But Floor is just.......more complete. When Tarja starts to sing I nod with my head and think - Great...cool voice...nice accent....nice.....but when Floor starts to sing I feel instantly better....although she makes me nearly cry.....you know what I mean..... More Tarja: Try Slaying the Dreamer from the same Concert....it ROCKS. Another Reactor said: Floor can push you down a flight of stairs and you will feel comfortable.... All Hail Queen Floor !
I love your reactions! They are so pure, real and honest! I always see the joy in your eyes when you listen to Nightwish! And Gosh, I watch your cats more this time...lol. They are so cute!
There's nothing easier than hearing more songs with Tarja. Band has recorded most songs and albums with Tarja. Half of songs you have listened to with Floor as a vocalist are also sung by Tarja. Band was founded by Tuomas, Tarja and guitarist Emppu in 1996. First demo of three songs was recorded with only acoustic guitar, flute and keyboards, which was Tuomas' main idea for Nightwish sound. But Tarja's high, powerful, dramatic, classical voice was much more suitable for metal and symphonic music. That's sound we hear to this day. Tuomas is father of Nightwish, and Tarja is mother. And Tarja's vocals are not purely operatic, but a mix of pop vocals and classical vocals (though share of classical vocals is bigger). Even in this song she often uses pop vocals in verses.
Oh i love Tarja’s vocals in this song. My opinion is, when Floor singing Nemo, it is her version. I love both and Anette too. Everyone give’s her/his best and everyone is spetacular good what She/he doing. And everyone in this band are pheomenal good on their stuff. Tarja’s era; i love specially creeck mary’s blood and walking on the air ❤
Yes, Tuomas is the genius songwriter and mastermind behind the band (sometimes known as the Mozart of metal), but they all make great contributions and work together so well. And I think Tarja is the better vocalist for some Nightwish songs, including this one. Floor is great in others, of course, especially GLS.
Subscribed. One of Tarja’s most achingly beautiful songs with Nightwish is “Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan” (Death Makes the Artist), the live version from the same concert. A remastered version is at th-cam.com/video/dIEBrLYu6Ds/w-d-xo.html. This song is in Finnish, one of the few songs that Nightwish recorded in Finnish. An English translation can be found at th-cam.com/video/z94ip-1_khY/w-d-xo.html. This song has been rarely reacted to, but anyone that loves Tarja’s voice must listen to this one.
I've noticed that fans who are used to more mainstream rock will, at least at first, be heavily in favor of Floor's vocal style. I totally get it; Floor is amazing, she might be the all around greatest rock singer there is, and that's saying a lot considering the amazing talent we've heard in the last several decades. For a while I leaned toward mostly favoring Floor's vocals, but then in recent years I've swung back to favoring Tarja, and that includes her solo stuff. She's more versatile than some people say she is. And depending on what songs you like, no one else can do justice to what she sings. The stuff she writes for herself is beautiful, epic, in ways that, again, is because she's singing it. Even some of her Nightwish songs don't sound good when sung by anyone else, including the amazing Floor! Examples: Slaying the Dreamer, Sleeping Sun, The Siren, and Phantom of the Opera. Her accent, it's just what it is. The way I understand it, she's fluent in five languages. Her native language is Finnish. Her daily language is Spanish. Her university studies language was German. And her writing and singing language is English. There's no way you're not going to have a distinctive accent if that's the case. And she's probably smarter than me and most of us in the comments or most who might be on stage with her. Having said that, there are songs of her era where I actually prefer Floor's version. Such as this song, Nemo. Romanticide is another one. Floor absolutely owns that song! I can go either way with Ghost Love Score though Floor's ending is pure epicness. But don't let anyone try to convince you out of liking one or the other, or one version over another. Go with what you like and tell everyone else to take a hike. After all, there's a ton of talent with this group no matter which singer, and art is subjective.
About the accent , I'll agree Englisch is not Tarja's first language but I am not charmed by it . At least you can try to teach and learn how to be more comfortable in a foreign language. For example , for Floor English is also not a native language , being Floor I bet she payed as much attention and time to get it as much fluent as she sings it
@@anskamp4780 You may be right about Floor, but as far as I know English is a normal daily language for the Dutch. Maybe not so for the Finnish. Even so, they both have different backgrounds and different paths to learning and growing as singers. And furthermore, no one is perfect. Not even the most talented of artists.
@@lanaeshonestopinion Great, couple more Tarja, then you can do Poet and the Pendulum. Recommend "Sleeping Sun" and "Ever Dream" from the same concert End of an Era, the last concert with Tarja, keep in mind all in the band know (except Tarja) she is getting booted after this concert via the open letter.
Having recently lost my cat to old age (a British Short hair called Estelle) after 18 years. I just love your cats doing cat things, cherish their shenanigans
Just found your channel today and I've been binging your Nightwish videos. I will never get tired of hearing people fawn over my favourite band. I discovered them in 2003 when I was 14, received their discography for Christmas that year, and I still love them 21 years later. I've been lucky enough to see them 8 times so far, once with Tarja, twice with Annette and five times with Floor. About to watch your Greatest Show reaction, which was one of their shows I went to, their first Wembley concert back in 2015.
Wait to you get to the Celtic side of Nightwish and get introduced to Troy (the only Brit in the band) who is a multi-instrumentalist and plays the Irish Ullianne pipes, low and high whistles, guitar, and Bouzouki (a type of lute). I highly suggest you react to "My Walden" from their Wembley 2015 concert (a showcase for Troy and his "beautiful pipes" as Floor says) and "I Want My Tears Back" from Buenos Aires 2018 concert (or Wacken 2013 concert)
"Nemo" is one of most popular songs of Nightwish. I don't compare all these 3 wonderful singers. Or bassists, or drummers. They are all pure professionals. But I miss so much these old times. I became Nightwish-fan -98 when I listened them first time. They had just released album "Oceanborn".
Lana I think You should listen the following song too: Walking in the air (cover) th-cam.com/video/9icKP1b44TA/w-d-xo.html The whole band was really YOUNG. The bass guitarist was not Marco at that early stage of the band, but Sami Vanska. I bet You will fall in love not only to young Emppu, but Tuomas. I've told You. :D
I suggest the Pink Floyd tribute by Nightwish in the same concert. Marko sang it and it takes on an extra flavor of sadness knowing the band's situation with Tarja. They've mastered this song. The name of the song : "High Hopes"
Your own speak voice level does break a little , music level is spot on. All these song before 2005 are written for her voice so it was what Tuomas wanted it sound like.
This is the song that got me into Nightwish. It was in a movie called The Cave, and ever since then I was a fan. I didn't listen to as much when Annette joined. I just didn't think her voice suited Nightwish as much. She's definitely a great vocalist, but didn't have the same power.
Lanae, there are two Nightwishes, one with Tarja, one with Floor. Most people either don't like, or find it hard to believe that Anette was in the midlle of them both for two albums .There are some who prefer the Tarja era and vice versa. You started with the Floor era and, it can be difficult to accept anyone else. Remember that Ghost Love Score was originally performed with Tarja. Try Dead boys poem with Tarja. The irony of all this is the build up to Poet and the pendulum, which was originally performed by Anette. you're doing a fantastic job. Also remember that Tarja has gone on to a very successful solo career since the split, so you can bear her in mind for some solo performances.
The Album with The Poet and The Pendulum, Dark Passion Play, was actually the album that hooked me into Nighwish. With Anette on vocals. Then came the album Imaginarium, also with Anette. Those are some of the best NW albums. And some songs, like Amaranth or Scaretale, Anette does best. Anette gets A LOT of un deserved Sh***t from too many ppl in the NW Army.
@@sulliken77 100% agree. Two of the finest albums they have produced. People seem to forget that it was Tuomas who chose Anette from around 2000 applicants. She deserves far more credit than she gets.
To me it's the other way around: hearing Floor sing anything that was originally sung by Tarja just sounds weird and wrong. Anyway, I would recommend reacting to some of Tarja's solo stuff too. For example Supremacy (Muse cover) or Victim of Ritual (her own song) from Woodstock 2016.
Miss Lanae. I subbed in on your first NW reaction, (Ghost Love Score). Like most of the NW reaction followers, I too relive my first time hearing these songs through the reactors first time hearing them. You stood on the precipice of the NW rabbit hole when you reacted to GLS and chose to dive in head first! I can not recall of another reactor doing this before you! Furthermore you have followed our suggestions regarding the songs revolving around the tragic parting between Nightwish and Tarja. I am of the opinion that one can compare musical instruments from a technical perspective and one can compare them from an emotional perspective. Technically, Tarja and Floor are different. I am not qualified to make comparisons there but emotionaly, I can easily say that I love both vocal styles equally well. Frankly I can not imagine life without both vocalist's contributions to NW. I too started my NW journey with Floor. Today, both Tarja and Floor can now bring me to tears with their voices. I hope that you may be like that some day. Please do Tarja's rendition of Everdream next. BTW, someone during your first NW reaction asked if you were surprised to be joining an Army. Well, welcome to our family! Greetings from your fellow NW Army Member, Outpost Eatonville Wa.
tarja make foundation and anette sing nightwish best song meadows of heaven ( original studio version where is usa gospel singers ) and floor get nightwish big very big. so if you listening anette era,you should listening meadows of heaven studio version. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
As a Finn & very familiar with Nightwish and their songs, I must admit that I was more interested in watching your cats fightand play in the background.
🤩👍💥💯🎼 The more you´re listening them, the more ´familiar´ their "Formula" on composition becomes to a one... Don´t ya forget in the future how much they´ve brought subs to your channel, and that´s purely ´coz of your enthusiasm on to them...The power of music what unites people around the wörld. Neat reaction to a classic sound of Nightwish. Keep On Rockin´ with them! Cheers from Finland. 🤘😎💙🎶
The problem with reactors coming to NW in the Floor era is that you have NO idea that the band didn't start out to define a genre, it was BECAUSE of Tarja's amazing classical vocals that Tuomas wrote these awesome songs thus defining symphonic metal. For me Tarja will always sound better singing the songs that were written for HER vocals!!
I love this song with Tarja's voice. But, I am a huge Floor fan. One important thing to remember is that none of these songs were written with Floor in the band. The older songs (Nemo, Ghost Love score, Everdream) were all written for Tarja. The newer songs from the Imaginarium album (Storytime) were written for Annette. That's the reason all of the Floor videos are live. She hadn't recorded anything. She joined the band mid tour.
Really enjoying your reactions. You got yourself a rabbit hole here and a lot of folks that love to dive down the rabbit hole with you. However... Now that you have heard Tarja and Floor, it's time to throw you off completely... Look at "The Islander" live in Tampere ... It's a Marko singing "solo" (at least it appears to be, let yourself be surprised). Let's just say Floor does incredible background vocals as well.
You can't really compare the two as who is better , just like what you like as an individual. They are both great and serving the band well for their time in the position . If you haven't seen Tarja and Marko belt out the Phantom of the opera yet , it is a must, an absolutely stellar performance and especially showcasing what Marko is capable of . The man is very missed in this line up .
The origional spark that helped to create the band, all from the same town of Kitee? Apparently, the boys were surprised when she began singing so strongly, changing the direction for them all. Was she taught piano by the Mom of Tuomas? I loved the twinge of her Finnish accent, if you are up for it, there is a funny animation, of misheard lyrics. th-cam.com/video/gg5_mlQOsUQ/w-d-xo.html
You know the strenght and power Floor brings to her belts? That's what Tarja brings to classical high notes. That's where she excels. Same power, different fields. 🎉 Tarja can't belt as much as Floor, and Floor can't bring the same weight to classical music like Tarja. But both can do both ! Also please react to The Siren from End of an Era ! Tuomas compared Tarja to a siren 😊
Maybe you can listen to Tarja's latest songs like Shadow play (live circus life show). She sings differently after 20 years. You are "comparing" the current Floor with the old Tarja. I love Tarja in all her stages
If you are a fan of the style of Nightwish, check out Visions of Alantis, I recommend Clocks or Armada to start out. They are an Austrian band in the style of Finnish symphonic metal while they are dressed like pirates. I saw Tarja do NEMO live when she was on tour here in the states. Chaoseum (another Swedish band from the French quarter), was on tour with her. Check them out
Enjoyed your reaction. One of Nightiwsh's most iconic and commercially successful songs. The opening piano melody is instantly recognizable. There are so many great versions of this song, it really shows Tuomas writing genius that it can be amazing even when the instrumentation is changed. Highly recommend you react to Floor's version from Hellfest in 2022. She had changed up the ending by holding her F5 belt at the end for 15 seconds. Saw her do it live in Boston. Mind blowing. One of the things I have discovered over the 4 years I have been listening to Nightwish is that I often prefer the version and singer of the first video of the song I listen to. Some there are clearly differences that make one version of a song better then the other but often depends on who I heard first. Slaying the Dreamer - Floor (heard her first live in Buenos Aries) Planet Hell - Tarja (heard her first live End of an Era concert).
Comparison between all 3 ex-singers(yes, Marco is there too) is useless. All u need to do is to enjoy the music. I've been a NW fan since 1997, seen all singers live, I don't have the luxury to "find" them for the 1st time, so instead I watch reaction vids 🥰. Greetings from Finland, luv ur reactions and ur cats
You nailed it Lanae. J's are y's and you roll the r. After this song which was written for Tarja, listen to the Wacken 2013 performance with Floor singing this song. Now that you are getting a vibe for Tarja and the fans love of her style it will help you understand PNP better. Right after this show they presented Tarja with The Open Letter. See link. Marko said in Finnish that Hey there's the guy who wrote this whole songs riffs, Tuomas Holopainen
Tarja Nightwish Bless The Child OFFICIAL VIDEO.
Next from Finland. Poets of the Fall. Song Angel Live in Alexander Theatre sessions Helsinki Finland. I love this song.
I love your enthusiasm, it's contagious :)
You should know that each of us has a favorite singer, but at the same time we realize that there is no competition between the 3 singers, but only 3 "eras" of Nightwish, each of them with its own "flavor".
Clip from their book:
------
In 1996, Tarja was on her Christmas holiday in Kitee. The music turned out to be really beautiful."
Tuomas remembers that Tarja immediately agreed to join the band. Having no clear idea on the vocal melodies, Tuomas basically gave Tarja the task to figure them out herself. "There were three songs on the demo, and one of them was called 'Nightwish'", Tarja recalls. "Tuomas gave me the lyrics and backing tracks and said that he had a certain melody in mind, but I was welcome to come up with my own interpretation."
At the time, the goals were not set too high. "The whole thing was supposed to be just an experiment - we'd record a demo and maybe sent it out to some record companies", Tuomas says. "There were no plans whatsoever to play gigs or to aim towards anything more serious. Tarja figured it would take maybe two days for her to sing the songs in the studio."
"Tuomas called me and said that we have a vocalist", engineer Tero Kinnunen recalls. The control room was in the theater, so we set up a mic there and started recording."
Tarja went through the vocal melodies with the boys, and when the time came for her to start singing, the guys' jaws dropped to the floor.
@@ValtteL Thank you. As a relatively late comer to NW, you have filled in the important gaps for me regarding early NW.
@@howlandgrowl Thank you for adding this rich early history of my favorite band of all time!
I agree, Sleeping Sun would be an excellent next stop on the Tarja trip.
there are Nightwish Fans, and there are Tarja Fans, Anette Fans and a lot of Floor Fans ...
i am Nightwish Fan, i love every era they had, and it looks like this love will continue due to the effect, "Perfum of the Timeless" had left on me
Emppu is the guy who can, between two notes:
- take a nap
- Drink a Corona
- Jump from the drumset
- play a full game of GTA: San andreas
- blow out all the candles of his birthday cake
and throw, pin and hold two drunk roadies!
@zebulonmcfly9213 You forgot to add that he can also prank Floor by unplugging her ear-bud/monitor while performing live. . (Not sure why, "Mr. Emmpu the Prankster" prefers that his beer actually tastes like beer when he performs live though....)
nice
What ever your view about these two beautiful singers just know that Floor and Tarja are great friends.
This song is where I started with Nightwish back in 2004. Tarja’s accent drew me in immediately. I saw them a few months before this concert. They were amazing, and I have loved them ever since.
I think Emppu has a whole truck with only picks. He is always throwing picks around. Hahahahaha
They're all 22/23 there :)
Fantasmic III (great Tuomas moment!)
or Beauty and the Beast (a song from their very first album!)
or Deep Silent Complete (so soothing, so beautiful)
or Wanderlust (sweet band moments)
For more Tarja try Deep Silent Complete, Walking in the Air, and Swanheart (all from Live Wishes to Eternity). I'm a Floor Jansen fanboy, but my God Tarja is so f**king good too.
Was waiting for your reaction to Emppu's wink and swig of wine 😂 ...that always gets a chuckle. By the way your cats are hilarious
Thank you! Nemo is my favourite song from Nightwish!!❤
Yes, both Floor and Tarja are incredible vocalists!
There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats..
I love your approach to getting to know this band. I started listening to them when Tarja was the only singer.
My favourite metal bands are Nightwish and Within Temptation.
I grow up with Tarja voice that was captivated my heart. In that days, she was one of the best artists for sure.
You should react to Tarja featuring with Within Temptation (song Paradise What about us?)
Both bands have an amazing catalogue of great songs. You will love it. A big hug 🫂
You have to do The siren. Also from this show. Totally amazing
I concur.
I concur. My favorite Tarja song.
Oh hell yes.
Some Tarja's songs with Nightwish that I pretty sure recomends for you to react are
- Sleeping Sun from this same show (the magic on that it's insane)
- Planet Hell (same show)
- Slaying The Dreamer (same show)
- Dead Boy's Poem, it's a beautifull and deep song
- She is my Sin
- Elvenpath/Fantasmic
This three from the live DVD From Wishes to Eternity
If you like Symphonic Metal, you could also try hear the dutch band Within Temptation with Iron (Live) with live orchestra and chorus or Paradise ft Tarja (Live at Hellfest)
Let's put it this way, if i walk into someone's home and they are playing Nightwish, any song or any singer, i would be so happy!
Happy to see You anytime in my house. :D There are no days without Nightwish, Kamelot, Epica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Queen or other great bands/artist in my life. Greetings from Hungary
@@bodresz Jovok gyorsan!! Imadom a Magyarokat!
Spot on.
I like the background music on your cat video!
Uhuh, a cat fight 😂 🤣🤣🤣
I love seeing your cats in the background 😂 not distracting, it's an added bonus to great reactions ❤
Her accent is too strong for me. Her newer solo stuff is much better.
@@FromG2eminor I agree that her solo work is much better too. She has taken big steps forward with her vocals, creativity and presence since going solo.
I started with Tarja; I prefer. Floor.
@@normenneulich1952Nightwish says she’s a co-founder.
Tarja still performs many Nightwish songs live today. there is a video of one such song, "Over the Hills and Far Away" if I recall, where her good friend Floor joins her onstage!
'Over the Hills and Far Away' is another song from this concert which shows all their playing skills. Emppu's playing is also a joy to watch.
Tarja, the symphonic metal goddes. Ghost love Score, ftom this concert, should be the next
You need to hear Sleeping Sun with Tarja, from this same concert. That song is perfect for her, you'll love it!
I love your reactions! They are so pure, real and honest! I always see the joy in your eyes when you listen to Nightwish! And Gosh, I watch your cats more this time...lol. They are so cute!
Love to look your cats playing. Adorable little things.
Tarja Turunen the best!!!!saludos Argentina 🇦🇷
Aguante Tarja!! 🤘😎🇦🇷
This was a nice cat action video, disguised as a reaction video!
I am a Floor fan, but the official video of this song with Tarja is great ...
You are doing perfectly for lining up to The Poet and the Pendulum, getting the feels for Tarja, good job there!
Do you know about the Open letters?
I do but I havent read them yet. I'm wanting to get a feel for Tarja right now 😊
@@lanaeshonestopinion Great, couple more Tarja, then you can do Poet and the Pendulum.
Hey there! Irishman here. They're called Uilleann pipes (pronounced ill - in) Troy is a very impressive multi instrumentlist. 🤘
Tuomas' wife sings also. There's a video about the guy that drew Scroog McDuck that his wife sings in.
you must listen to From Wishes to Eternity
Pretty good Tarja pronouncing (the first try)! Greetings from Finland nightless night.
Please....Wishmaster
With Tarja.... ABSOLUTE AMAZING
From This Same Concert.
Blow Your Mind!!!!
Yes, I concur! Also Walking In The Air is great!
DAAAAAAAAAAAA "Wacken" Nemo Floooooooooor Fantastic also.
THANKS EVERYONE 👍☺ NIGHTWISH ARMY!!! 😊🤘🤘🤘
I suggest the Pink Floyd tribute by Nightwish in the same concert. Marko sang it and it takes on an extra flavor of sadness knowing the band's situation with Tarja. They've mastered this song. The name of the song : "High Hopes"
Tarja,Tuomas,Marko,Jukka, Emppu. KIITOS.
Look the song "Creek Marys blood" from this "End of an era" show, i think you like this song. One of my top 5 Tarja songs.
Tarja❤ela tem musicas com o tom mais baixo.....swantheart....sleeping the sun.....walking in the air...siren....Tarja❤tarja❤
You should see Floor and Tarja duet together “Over the Hills” is the song
Oh I bet that's amazing!!!
I liked the cat battles. Sums up the fanbase nicely, sometimes.
😂😂😂 I love this comment lol
To me it's the other way around: hearing Floor sing anything that was originally sung by Tarja just sounds weird and wrong. Anyway, I would recommend reacting to some of Tarja's solo stuff too. For example Supremacy (Muse cover) or Victim of Ritual (her own song) from Woodstock 2016.
Definitely. Totally agree
Aww, np, they are little cuties :)
tarja make foundation and anette sing nightwish best song meadows of heaven ( original studio version where is usa gospel singers ) and floor get nightwish big very big. so if you listening anette era,you should listening meadows of heaven studio version. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
As a Finn & very familiar with Nightwish and their songs, I must admit that I was more interested in watching your cats fightand play in the background.
You want to see something incredible, Tarja & Within Temptation - Paradise - What About Us (Official Video because it is freaking cool!!)
If you like nightwish you should check out epica
🤩👍💥💯🎼
The more you´re listening them, the more ´familiar´ their "Formula" on composition becomes to a one...
🤘😎💙🎶
Highly recommend Creek Mary’s Blood from End of an Era concert! Absolutely amazing! 🤗🤗🤗
Suggestion if you want to just bang your head is Nightwish Planet Hell from this same concert.
Tarja forever
The problem with reactors coming to NW in the Floor era is that you have NO idea that the band didn't start out to define a genre, it was BECAUSE of Tarja's amazing classical vocals that Tuomas wrote these awesome songs thus defining symphonic metal.
For me Tarja will always sound better singing the songs that were written for HER vocals!!
One of the best with Tarja and Marko: Slaying the Dreamer (End of an Era concert)! Thank You!
I absoutly concur.
The pauses were the distractor, not the cats ;)
This is not to slight Tarja, but you DO need to hear Floor's version of this song. Best version is the Wacken one.
Посмотрите эту песню с Floor
Thanks❤
Tarja is Nightwish ❤👍🤘
The origional spark that helped to create the band, all from the same town of Kitee?
Apparently, the boys were surprised when she began singing so strongly, changing the direction for them all.
Was she taught piano by the Mom of Tuomas?
I loved the twinge of her Finnish accent, if you are up for it, there is a funny animation, of misheard lyrics.

react i wish i had an angel live
There is also a version with Floor at Wacken
For me its only Floor❤
If you are a fan of the style of Nightwish, check out Visions of Alantis, I recommend Clocks or Armada to start out. They are an Austrian band in the style of Finnish symphonic metal while they are dressed like pirates. I saw Tarja do NEMO live when she was on tour here in the states. Chaoseum (another Swedish band from the French quarter), was on tour with her. Check them out
A great Nightwish song with Tarja is Sleeping Sun, from the same concert
Enjoyed your reaction. One of Nightiwsh's most iconic and commercially successful songs. The opening piano melody is instantly recognizable. There are so many great versions of this song, it really shows Tuomas writing genius that it can be amazing even when the instrumentation is changed. Highly recommend you react to Floor's version from Hellfest in 2022. She had changed up the ending by holding her F5 belt at the end for 15 seconds. Saw her do it live in Boston. Mind blowing. Next Tarja and Nightwish Planet Hell or The Siren.
