Mike Wild is my favorite type of car owner. Own just one sports car for over 20 years and enjoying it. The CS is one of my favorite cars too and I hope to be able to afford it one day. Mike is truly an inspiration.

Mike is a lovely guy and someone we've known for quite a long time. In terms of car ownership he does have a soft spot for E-type Jaguars as well.

This made me smile ... and I owe you an explanation.
I first met Mike at Donnington when I took some tuition from him driving my 964RS N-GT in which over 20,000Km I learnt to be an amateur racer. He diagnosed a faulty distributor belt and wouldn't accept any payment for his time, telling me to take it back to 9m for repair asap. Our paths kept crossing and last summer we met again at The Motorist chatting around my 944 Turbo Cup car. I asked if he still had his 3.2CS which I knew he had kept over a 964RS that he had preferred to sell ... racing is expensive !
It had stuck in my mind as something really special ... and what followed was a very frank and rather emotional conversation. So it was that with a balance of kindnesses we agreed an exchange of cars ... each in their own way seminal to the evolution and history of Porsche. My "collection find" barely run-in 987 Boxster Spyder for Mike's treasure. Magic.
The car is fully living up to all my hopes and if comparing it to a 2.7RS I can only say that it feels far more special than the '75 2.7 Carrera that I previously owned, but of course it is :)
Porsche do not stand still and this is a car that is far better than the sum of its parts.
As for numbers ... Porsche barely tried to sell the 3.2CS. It was cheaper than the 3.2 Sport and as Mark Sumpter said, it was built for the nascent club racer market to re-establish Porsches amateur racing heritage following the 2.7RS ... 15 years later!
Every invoice and receipt lives with this car. It was tracked or raced from very early in its life and was clearly loved from the start. Almost 60 invoices over 73,000 miles and with over £30,000 spent on regular maintenance, it has suffered very few scars.
    Well done Mike, and thank-you.
Henry ? Sorry ... but the video is great! Any chance of a copy for the file ??
    Thanks, ChrisW.

Glad you are enjoying the car. Mike is indeed a lovely guy and someone I've known over an extended period of time. Both Steve (from Autofarm) and I were keen to help him sell the car so pooled resources. This link will stay live indefinitely for your records or just rip it off onto a file as everyone else does these days. Creative genius has no value....
Enjoy the car, nice and easy to keep on the road service wise. As and when you fancy a change you know where we are :)

Interesting comment about not having to worry about driving a CS. Recent sales, both on Collecting Cars, are for £120,700 and £129,000. That definitely puts this car into the rich man’s toy category. Having said that I would love to own one and be able to drive it in the way Porsche designed it to be driven. There’s a nice video on Harry’s Garage on a CS that confirms what everyone says about this car, worth watching.

Another interesting video, Henry. Just 53 RHD models? Did some people view the stripped out CS models as being too basic? I seem to remember that the 968 Sport was a special UK model, which was basically a 968 CS with some of the luxuries (power windows, etc) added back in. I'm not sure. Obviously, you will know.

It's funny how all the lightweight versions were viewed in period. Some felt it was just cynical marketing on Porsche's part and so there was a time when values were quite depressed. I guess at the time you judged on relative prices. In hindsight there were a number of cars I would never have sold. The true enthusiasts have always seen the value in cars like this though because of the quality of drive they offer.

Hi Great upload, next time please 'drive' with the car; it's such a special sound among all other classic car sounds, not to speak about all plans to ban the full human experience with nonsical EV's. Albeit mine is garaged (an ordinary SC), I will be rested in the groiund when that kind of transport era really takes off... How to feel free as a liberated spirit to be either confined to virtual reality or to be seated in an autocontrolled bisquits tin deprived of a full sensorial experiense.. In my will, my 911 will be my hearse!

The G series 911 is like you say the last of the pure classic 911.Yet having said all that I still think the 911 type 964 looks so great and still it feels modern to drive.

The CS is likely a better performance 911 than the iconic 2.7 RS.

    • @911virgin8
      @911virgin8  ปีที่แล้ว

They are a different car. In theory I'd say the 2.7 RS is a faster car on account of the lighter weight, the issue I've found with pre-impact bumper cars is finding one that still drives and handles as new. Of course with the RS their huge value allows some serious mechanical fettling to bring them up to speed. Dare you use them in anger given the value? A different story.
