This is the second time for me into the Davies Plain Hut area
Last time I was up there was 2006 and this drive has still got to be
    one of my favourites.
On this one I came across the Limestone Road after staying at the Little River Junction Camping ground on the Snowy River.

One of my first big 4wd trips up that way was in 1985.. drove into McFarlane's and camped..did the walk to start of Murray River..
Even did the crossing at the poplars, been back many times over the years. Top area to drive..
    Great video..

Would have been great to do back then.
A mate of mine camped on the other side of the poplars way back in the day.And I remember the crossing back in 2006 but never crossed as they marked it wilderness area.
I'll be back up there for sure.
Glad you enjoyed the video mate 👍

@@Bush-Tv I also did the trip over the top a few times to Wood’s Point and Mansfield and camped along the river there. I used to camp mostly early spring or late autumn when the weather could be really good or really awful. Nearly got stuck once when the Glenmaggie Weir was just about to overflow!

Poplars mate, Poplars, not populars! Early 80's camped on the NSW side when the track was driveable. Same at MacFarlans Flat. There was never any signs to denote the wilderness boundary and NSW Parks Officers took great delight at the time, booking Victorians for trespass. You could stand and stradle the Murray River with both feet. Think it is called the Indi River up there.

I'm a bit of the old Dyslexia going on sometimes mate.
A mate of mine crossed and camped over the other side in his FJ 55 back when it was wilderness area without even knowing, he's luck no one turned up.
Love that country up that way mate.
Sounds like you know a lot about the bush up there mate.
Like to hear some of your stories some day.

When its really wet theres a couple of fun sections coming up from tom groggin to the hut, need the winch. Chose a good line on the river crossing, water height was low. Ive stalled in the middle of that crossing with water up to the door handles...not the best location to find out there was an airbox leak. Trusty disco started again no worries mate

@@Bush-Tv yolo lol. Yeh I've certainly done my fair share of questionable decisions in a 4wd in the high country, no more tbh. Too expensive to fix and often I was solo and had to get myself out of sticky situations unaided. Lots of winter trips accessing backcountry skiing, tracks go from mild to wild easily. Rather just access some nice campspots now

      @Bush-Tv  ปีที่แล้ว +2
