  • Second part of our epic high country trip. Departing Mt Gibbo, travelling to Mt Pinnibar then on to the Murray crossing at Tom Groggin camp ground to exit, only finding a flooded murray river!
Amazing high country vista's, iconic peaks!

Bloody lucky finding that access the farmer allows across his property. Bloody nice of them.
    Excellent vid mate.
    Thanks for sharing

Certainly was, would have been tight on fuel to drive back out the way we came in that's for sure. Good information to know you can get out via Tom Groggin station if the crossing at the camp ground is flooded and unsafe.

I think west to east would be my preferred route being the Pinnibar track seemed to be more rutted coming down to Tom Groggin. Thanks again for your efforts Jase, cheers BobbyB.

West to east is definitely easier. It's a nice drive if you start from Benambra Corryong Rd on Wildboar and head to Mt Sassafrass, then Gibbo, then Pinnibar and out at Tom Groggin

Big relief with the private property access! This video is definitely a step up with the inclusion of the external footage, well done.

Thanks Peter, much appreciated feedback. We'll endeavour to do as much of that going forward as we can. Yeah, can't tell you how happy we were to be able to exit via Tom Groggin Stn

Great episode Jas, very informative mate, just what I was looking for. 👍🏼
I’m looking at doing the reverse of your trip on Friday. Had a bit of rain early this week, so just trying to get my head around it all as going solo also.
Loving the external camera work mate, makes it a lot more interesting, but so much more time consuming though! 🤦🏽

Thx Gav it's a great trip, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Some good ruts on the Mt Pinnibar Track at the moment! We did it late December but I haven't edited it yet.

There is a sign stating no entry at the Groggin bridge, with bio security concerns access will probably be closed

Yes track closures for Mt Pinnibar and Tom Groggin were extended this year until 1/12 (subject to revision by Parks VIC)

Jason, do you know if the private property has the same signs on the Nsw (great alpine road) side? Do they allow travel across the cause way from the opposite direction?
And knowing they do allow crossing from the Vic is invaluable and very well appreciated (both the property owners and you sharing this knowledge). Cheers for the vid.

    • @OffTheBeatenPathAus
      @OffTheBeatenPathAus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

There weren't any signs on the NSW side at all indicating it was ok to drive across their property if the ford at the camp ground is impassable. Guessing they figure that if you're on that side it's not an emergency where as they acknowledge that if you've come to the VIC side of the Tom Groggin crossing and the ford is flooded, it's hours (and people may not even have the fuel) to get out.
