    This is an excellent demo of the spun seams! The clear, close-up steps are the best ai have seen for this process.
    Thank you, and stay well!

    Thankyou so much again. I certainly have pressed first and then tried to spin my seams . I learn every time you put out a video. And they are really good close ups ( and that is hard to do I’m sure) . 🤗

    Thank you for this tutorial! I have always been scared to do a quilt with pinwheels because of the bulk at the center. I'm gonna go make a couple of scrap blocks to practice. Great explanation. 👍

    Thank you! I have never mastered this technique. You have made the steps so clear, especially checking the diagonal seams of a pinwheel. I know I’ve mistakenly pressed the seams beforehand.😅

    I don’t understand why picking out the stitches past the stitching line doesn’t create a risk of more thread unraveling and causing a small hole down the road. What am I missing? Thank you.

    • @randyolson5001

      I worry about that too

    • @joyfulandmerryquilting

      I leave the threads that I have picked out, and they are anchored cross-wise from the last seam I sewed. I haven't had a problem with a hole being left behind. I suppose it could if you trim the threads once you pick them out, but leaving them in place seems to keep everything together.

    Thank you so much Mary. Do you do this technique only on four patch/ pinwheel?❤

    • @joyfulandmerryquilting

      You can also do this on seams with an intersection - such as the a nine-patch.

    Thanks Mary for a clear method to create these seams. I recently made a hexagon quilt and now wish I had known about this method. Please, hoe would it work with a hexagon seam.

    Thank for you video…..How do you keep your fabric from fraying? My fabric frays like crazy. Even when the sewing machine sews my seam. I appreciate your thoughts

    Thank you! But...what prevents the seam from opening up? Is it that the horizontal seam was seen last?

    • @joyfulandmerryquilting

      No - you are opening up the seam that extends into the seam allowance. It has been anchored by the horizontal seam. I don't clip the threads - just remove them from the seam allowance.

  • @C123abc

    Great explanation but I think you messed us on the pinwheel and should have spun the seams so they all go the same way. I think that yields the best result.

    • @joyfulandmerryquilting

      From my experience in order to nest the seams together before spinning them, the half square triangles need to be pressed as I show in the video. Then, I spin the vertical and horizontal seams only, as I show in the video. Whatever way works for you is great.
