Jessica isn't mocking Harvey. She's doing what Harvey does. She's "playing the man". Harvey is at his best when he's antagonised. Like Mike did to Harvey against tanner.
@flamingburritto this is the equivalent of Alfred telling Bruce Wayne "you're out of your depth". And we all know if Alfred has to be the one to confront Bruce, you know everything else went wrong.
Mike was smart in this scene by forcing Harvey to answer the question. He knew Harvey would respond asking Mike the question of how he did it. Mike being the attorney and not the witness on stand can freely lie and it not be perjury in this instance. I know this is a mock trial so it doesn’t matter anyway but it’s a good strategy for the real thing.
What's even better is that Mike never actually lied. It is true that he chose to live with his friend trevor. It is true that it was a 3h 20m drive. And it is it true that he only went there to take tests. And it is true that that is all he had to do to become successful.
@user-kb8rc7xr6s yes, he didn't. He took exams for somebody else to make a living though and got found out, hence why he was expelled before he could ever take his first own exam.
What's also funny is that Harvey could've chosen one of MANY legitimate ways of hiring him and even helping him get his degree, and instead chose a stupidly illegal way. Obviously, it's for TV drama and without it, we wouldn't have a show, but he could've hired him in a position (like secretary/aid or something that doesn't need a degree and even supplement his pay like Donna) or even show Jessica his potential and have her pull strings into any law school to have them accept him and pass him. Hell, they give honorary degrees to actors, you think they can't just give someone a degree who can ace their exams without their classes?
Obtaining a degree without traditional classroom attendance is feasible, with several approaches available. The most direct method involves contesting the courses. However, this presents challenges for many students. Not only is the process difficult-requiring a deep understanding of the subject-but it also disqualifies the use of student loans. Contesting a course necessitates paying the entire tuition fee plus an extra examination cost, which may be exorbitantly high. While instructors have the authority to deny a challenge, it is generally frowned upon if they do so. Drawing from my experience with a Master’s in Computer Science and 13 years of teaching at various colleges and universities, I’ve observed only two instances of students challenging my courses and both received 100% on their challenge exams and both went on to receive full scholarships to MIT. That is why I loved this show, there are people in this world who are incredibly intelligent and talented and they can do amazing things.
I did it for 2 years in highschool.cut class from oct till may showed up for the final exam and passed it.teacher wanted to still fail me stating this student clearly cheated and has zero class participation nor homework nor special projects,to which i retorted in the student contracts each teacher signed with students states the final is worth 75% of ur final grade meaning if i skip everything and pass that final with a high enough grade i still pass the class.i finished the test 25 mins before the rest of my class( no way to cheat off them if im first done and 2 i couldnt know the answers because teach never wrote them down,i would have had to already know the subject matter which i did because i did highschool level american history in junior high. I was in accelerated studies aka gifted and talented and i have a photograpic memory so i retain dam near everything i see or read. In the end all teachers involved were angry but according to their own rules had to pass me.75 i got in each class.no final did i score beneath 85 and then after all of that i signed myself outta school( dropped out i was 18) and got my GED BEFORE MY CLASS EVEN GRADUATED.
@TheBrob1983 haha, I had to graduate hs early cuz of an international move. It was so funny with the counselors talking up how hard passing the finals would be, but it all ended up being a joke. They used the same English final for every single English class so I easily passed that, I was already in calculus so I ended up doing finals for earlier classes I'd skipped, and the few other tests were for high-school electives or history which just wasn't hard to complete from my general curiosity about the past. Trying to pull that in college would be harder. I've studied through courses in a week before, but I can't maintain that living a healthy lifestyle and I'll crash really bad once I lose focus. It's fun though when I can, there's such a strong feeling of fulfillment even if it might not be the healthiest for me
You can’t contest a course in law school. There’s generally only 1 test per class a semester, graded anonymously. You could contest that test grade, but good luck.
We all know of people who hardly ever went to class yet still managed to make excellent grades. I had a fraternity brother who was a drunk yet a genius. Constantly blew off the same classes I attended yet had better grades. I always studied, he hardly studied. Life is not fair.
I got through College and hardly ever attended. All the way through my Masters, PhD was a completely different thing though, I still need 5 classes but I can't physically do it anymore. Those were a grind.
Tbh if there really is a youngest partner ever at the most competitive law firm in the world who has a photographic memory just comes out and says in court that he never needed to go to class to graduate law school with high grades, I would’ve totally believed him if I sit on that jury instead of believing the theory that he never went to law school. And frankly even if he didn’t, it didn’t matter to me anymore because he is a damn good lawyer. The intention of the law school and the bar are to serve as a standard that makes sure attorneys are capable and professionally knowledgeable. If you are smart and knowledgeable enough without it, personally I think there is no need to waste the time and money and energy. Abe Lincoln was also a self-taught attorney and was good at it.
It’s about Mike making a mockery of the New York BAR. Mikes capabilities were never truly questioned, because with his memory he’s literally a natural cheat code & likely superior to most if not all Harvard Graduates, but despite this he cheated the system & lawyers don’t take too kindly to being mocked, egos wouldn’t allow it. It’s like trying to prove someone wrong on a technicality as opposed to changing how they think. Except in this case, the “technicality” has criminal consequences & no lenience.
