    That's a shame they closed Toshimaen, I remember going there as a young boy.

      It really is, that was the 1st Japanese rink I skated in 2017 and it was a really good vibe. I remember the party sections when for 5min every hour they would turn the lights off and switch on the disco lights and play a special song. It was so cool. Never seen that before 😁

    Great to see this stuff spreading around the world! So many different styles, that’s what I love about this sport, you can do your own thing, it’s great! Except we have crappy rules so good luck hockeystopping :/ I’m going to try another ice rink 10 mins further than the other one, it’s pretty popular, so hopefully i can skate there when it reopens, it’s gonna be at least 2 months though probably...

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is what I love as well, this sport is everywhere around the world, everyone has there own styles and we all grow with it together. Im sorry about your local rink unfortunately that is the only thing that stops our sports growth is bad rink management, I really hope your new rink is much better when it opens up 😊

    • @freestyleskater
      @freestyleskater 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlobalIce ha ha thanks, another different local rink is charging £10 for one person! hopefully it goes down soon, it was finished late last year, don't think it's very popular yet lol... The one I hope to go to has hosted a lot of tv shows and whatnot lol, so hopefully I can spread the sport to more ppl :)

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@freestyleskater Nice definitely spread the word. Thats great. Yes we had that issue to rinks being £10 for only 1hr where sessions used to be 3 or 4hrs for that same price. Hopefully when this is all done they go back to regular sessions and prices

    I have a question for you: Are you mostly using hockey skates for this kind of activity?

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello, most freestylers prefer to use hockey skates for the flow and agility but some choose to use figure skates for a different style. It is really up to what you prefer but I find that most freestyle moves are a bit easier to learn on hockey skates.

    Does anyone know where to find those lighting skates? Thanks in advance :)

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the lights on the bottom of the skates. They are modified. So they usually buy LED strings from a store and then stick it with tape or glue to the holder and have to wire a battery, either under the laces or on the Sebas theres enough room under the skate for it. I hope this answers your question 😁

    • @katiasavina2521
      @katiasavina2521 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlobalIce the main thing here is that the light is on only when this guy actually skates. Guess there must be some pressure sensor..
      It's a pity the skates are modified, and I can't simply go and buy them 😢
      Thanks for your answer!

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@katiasavina2521 yes he put a pressure sensor between the holder and boot. It even lights up differently if he has his weight on the toe or heel. Its really amazing. Hopefully one day someone will open a business doing these modifications, I always wanted lights on my skates too

    • @yoshk6291
      @yoshk6291 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of my friends in Yokohama get their skates actually modified as in LEDs and batteries embeded in the blade holders. There is a guy who does all the jobs, you can find him often at Shin-Yokokohama Rink.

    5:18 can you do this type of stuff with figure skates?

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, some freestylers like to use figure skates as well, it gives them some different moves they can try. I personally have never tried it lol
