A Walk That Changed My Life: Chapter 9, Part 1

Noah was a normal middle-schooler in the state of Lockings until he went on a walk with his mother in sixth grade. Abandoned by his annoyed mother, he is saved from a group of gangsters called "Hoods" in an alley by a high-schooler named Marlin, who took him under his wing to train him how to defend himself. Sparring with him and his little cousin Nathaniel and spending each day with them, Noah becomes best friends with the two, helping them with whatever they needed. But then, a few months later, something happens to Marlin, changing their whole friendship and what Noah identifies him as.
I'm very aware that most of this is just dialogue, and I know some might not like that. But this chapter is very important for the storyline and what's going on in Nathan and Marlin's life, so if you're not interested in that, so be it. Just don't say I didn't warn you if you're confused about the lore.
And no, his father didn't leave for the milk for any of those jokesters out there…
