- I make a 1420 km fall camping trip on my scooter to the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario.
beautiful weather, great country side and the perfect ride.

Wonderful - can´t wait to get back on my 125cc scooter. I have been having it for just 4 weeks - it is my first scooter at age 59, and keeps me excited as a nine year old. Looking forward to spring&summertime. Take care.

There are numerous, myriad breathtaking places to be enjoyed here in the USA, but your scenic routes via scooter never fail to make my mouth water jealously... and now to know that I could get a protective “bear box” delivered to me in Canada? Makes me want to spend a summer (or TWO!!) exploring up there!! You almost never fail to inspire additions to my bucket list! I'm a 'slow & soft talker' myself and some people find it annoying as if everybody had to shout and scream thoughts out to show how well and peppy they feel. Fortunately many people say I calm'em down (I'm a teacher by the way) and they even tell me: "I like your therapy...I mean your class!", haha! Great vid, wonderful message and keep up the brilliant work!

Thanks James. I started riding a year ago and have had a little red Suzuki GN125 which I’m selling. I now have a big Kawasaki GT750, but I’m most excited about the 2015 Suzuki Address 110 I got last week. I haven’t made any videos yet, but if I do I’ll stop back and leave a link.
Have you any camping adventures planned imminently? You have wonderful such countryside for it!
The Suzuki looks like a great bike, never heard of it but checked out pictures online, should be a lot of fun. From a 750 to 110, interesting range, but each bike has its attributes I guess. I can't compare because I've just had the scooters since I started riding two years ago.

James Carey I live in the UP of Michigan (the shores of lake superior) I've ridden my reflex out of the Northland in "weather windows" of mid-30s with lots of gear on. I can make it to the next climate zone in one day (roughly iowa) then Missouri and decent winter temps from there. I average 60 mpg loaded up. I sleep in the trees or abandoned houses and barns. I love scooter travelling. Taking all back roads and seeing parts of America no one goes to anymore. I doubt o will ever buy another motorcycle again. Big scooters get the job done just fine. Thanks for helping me feel less "strange" out here in the 2 wheeled world. :)

Yes, food,food,food. I guess it’s part of the camping and “survival” thing. I’ve watched videos of some guy making a egg and bacon sandwich while camping and then craved one and made it for lunch!

Got my first scooter at 60, a KYMCO Like 200i. At 63 still love it but never did long trips like you do, but now I'm inspired to try. Of course now I want a Honda SH150i like yours in addition to my KYMCO. Great videos, thanks!
hey we could be brothers! I started late too, but better late than never I guess. That long trip was amazing and I'd love to do another. I'm 66 now and still itching to go on a trip, heck I get excited just going to the store on my scooter, feels so good. Where are located?
@@jamescarey7277 Located in Plattekill,NY, in the Hudson Valley(USA). Never rode a motorcycle until I was 30. Had quite a few but never liked them. My father-in-law was a Vespa rider in Italy after WW2 so I tried scooters with my KYMCO, now I finally like my bike, who would have thought? Even with two bum hips I get out now. Love your videos!
Since I was small I have loved the idea of a scooter, but never had one for one for one reason or another. I guess it’s too late to look back and wish, but I’m glad I realized the dream, no matter how late in life. Always wanted a vespa, but they are expensive. I'm planning a trip from Detroit to the tip of the Keweenaw. So I'm learing a lot from your films... not to mention I love a good travel film. Sure was nice to see Tobermory again, been there many a time (on 4 wheels not 2).
Sounds like a great trip, must be a beautiful area near Lake Superior. I need to plan another long ride, I enjoyed the Tobermory journey a lot, and learned a lot myself. Let me know how it goes.

Very well done. I've seen some of the Japanese videos and the cooking looks awesome. Wish I could find a diabetes friendly bannock recipe. The meats, mushrooms, peppers and onion are all good too. I would be tempted to toss them together with fajita spices and some tortillas.

great video. I use a camp bed for sleeping when on scooter trips. The type where its canvas stretched over two poles. More like a normal bed,Only weighs 3 kg, packs down fairly small and keeps you elevated off the ground. Maybe an alternative to your hammock.
Tried a sleeping cot once and didn't work for me, maybe a more modern design would be good, who makes it? It's my old bones that need softness now, so in a tent I use a thick blow up mattress, but it's too heavy and bulky for the scooter.

What a great video. I consider it an adventure going to thrift shops and the movies on my scooter. I admire your adventurous spirit. What would have you done if you got a flat tyre at the campsite?i would taken a case of beer on that camping trip or a hipflask of rum to save space. Did u have to worry about bears around there ?
Flat tire, I would call CAA and get the bike taken to a service station.Beer or flask, not necessary for me to have a great time.Never encountered any bear problems.Don't waste your time worrying about things that may happen, deal with it if they happen. Enjoy your mini adventures to the store, life is an adventure.

Love the unruffled style. Noted the hard braking at the rail crossing! Still getting my head round the fact that your food gets protected from hungry wild bears by a security box while you sleep in a flimsy tent outside it! In Britain the most dangerous thing we see is other campers.

Did you do any mods to your SH150i before, during or after your trip? Any suprizes on the performance, reliability, mileage, suspension of the SH? Loved your video that focused on the camping; interested to hear about the bike its plusses, minusses, laudatory applause points, complaints about the bike. Thanks
Sorry to be so long in responding. I don’t have a lot of experience with other bikes to compare, but the SH150i has been great and I have no complaints. Would be nice to have a glove box and not to have to lift the seat to refuel, but absolutely no surprises. The bike does exactly what I want.
Looks like a nice trip. Too bad the roads were closed. I don't think a hammock is the way to go with your old bones. A nice little tent with bug screen and inflatable air mattress might be better. Besides a bear can't bite your butt that way. PS: I used to be the campground asst. superintendent in Jasper National Park.
Ha! I passed by jasper camp site once because there were too many "beware of bear" signs!!!!Yes, I did a canoe camp and a car camp (videos to come) with my large air mattress, but I think I had a few new (hopefully temporary) aches and pains this year, so even on the mattress my sleep was off.I plan to take a close look at my sleep system for next year, but I still like the hammock and will be working on that to, always adapting and hopefully improving .I'd like to hear more of your bear butt biting experiences in Jasper :)
I have the same problem with my old bones too. I'm 68. Trying to find a light comfortable camping rig is an on going search. I do have a pickup and camper which is comfortable, but for light and cheap, (gas is getting to be a major cost nowadays), I have a couple of tents and an air mattress.
I used to chase a lot of bears away from stupid people in Jasper. I've also had many up close and personal encounters with bears. When you can feel the air on your face when a bear swipes at you I call that a little close for comfort. I learned, ' let them have the marsh mellows'. Had a seat chewed of a dirt bike one night while camping in the Gatineaus in Quebec. Cheers, John. Keep posting and I'll keep watching your great videos.

James Carey in Scotland a burn is another name for a stream or small river.
Just found you , like what I am seeing.been wanting a scooter for awhile, since I retired.used to have a 400cc.you say you cruise at 55, how fast can it go?
I'm on a trip now and cruising at 90 kph, all loaded with my camping/traveling gear.
Without the gear I can do 110kph, but I have no need and usually stay at 90 because I enjoy the ride and don't need speed.
There are faster and slower scooters, depends what you enjoy and if you do a lot of highway/interstate riding.
The whole idea, whatever you ride, is that you enjoy it (and can lift the bike up if it falls over!!)

I cruise at about 90 kph (aprox. 55 mph) out of the city and stay at around the speed limits in the city.
60 miles is one way for me to commute to work and its a nice ride. I usually stop for a coffee on the way but it's not a necessity.
I could go for hours on the Honda without stopping, and as this video showed a long trip is more than just possible it's a pleasure!
macaroni and cheese box dinner are cheap . have you tried pan frying chicken in bacon grease then adding the chicken into biscuit dough ?

What differences in the Honda are improvements over your Like?
Thanks for watching Peter.Improvements are relative to each person and what you are using the bike for, both bikes are good.The differences with the Honda, and better for me for the type of riding I am doing, larger wheels, better top speed, higher and more comfortable seat for long distance , better mirrors.The dash ( speedo and gas gauge etc.) is easier for me to read on the Kymco so that is one thing I miss on the Honda, and I believe there is more storage under the Kymco seat.

Can't hear what you're saying even with the volume on high.
Sorry to hear you are having issues with sound Duane.I listened to the video on an Ipad and two different computers and the audio seems fine to me.I wonder if your headphones or speakers are not operating correctly, or some volume setting is off either on TH-cam, computer or headphones.Hope you can correct it, and thanks for trying to watch my videos.
I had no problems & my audio setting was on about 50%.
