It really is about getting the consistency right. Keep practicing. Text one medium by mixing up different paint to medium ratios and doing a pour until you get your desired results. I did a series of experiments back in June. They should be in my mixing paints playlist if you want to check them out

You can! I don't use silicone in any of my painting currently. It's all about getting the right consistency with the paint to floetrol ratio.
