It's great to see somebody who has played for years still love playing just like it was the first day they got their first kit. You can tell Bernard truly loves the music he creates and does so for that same love.
Love that Purdie! Simple grooves from the soul that are sweet and he essentially built it all from listening to the trains rolling across the tracks where he grew up making a rhythm with their wheels riding on the rails. He never forces it but just lets it create itself into a beautiful funk swagger! He and that skilled brother on the bass were locked in nicely!
Huge HUGE thumbs up on that comment!! My taste in drummers, approach to playing the kit, and the sound I wanted completely changed when I discovered players like Purdie, Steve Jordan, Clyde Stubblefield, Charlie Watts, just to name a few....Playing in the pocket, focusing more on the groove, and making it feel good. It's a shame that there is still a great majority of drummers and musicians in general who are only impressed by technical chops.
