- Is this Zwift's toughest race course under 1 hour? I think it's definitely close if not the most difficult due to it's early punchy climb, followed by 2 further climbs with not much recovery time! What do you think?
This race was the equivalent "Zwift' version of the Dwars Door Vlaanderen Classic - More of these to come!
Course: Three Little Sisters, Watopia
Category B (C for this race)
Thanks all for watching, commenting and for those who also subscribe!
Please drop a comment if you have any advice that you think would help me become a stronger rider - hope you all enjoy!
I'm a category B Zwifter, with an zFTP of 276 weighing 77.5kgs.
Equipment:
Wahoo Kickr V5
Wahoo Kickr Climb
Apple TV 4k
Samsung 27" M50B monitor
Garmin HRM-DUEL
I love your Bianchi - my dream bike
Thanks mate, they are lovely bikes 👍🏻
Great effort Oli.. bloody well done Sir!
Thanks mate much appreciated 👍🏻 I got excited to see you sign up to yesterday’s Chasing Tour race - hopefully we’ll get into one soon mate!
Glad you took onboard no one’s feedback and just kept to your same routine of no warm up, if it ain’t broke and all that! Good riding though solid efforts to stay with the pack and to keep going when despite your legs screaming at you! When I’m feeling like that I just try to at the time see how my HR and breathing is if I’m not struggling in that regard then I will keep pushing as our legs can take on a lot more than we think despite them trying to tell us otherwise! Good result in the end a bunch sprint after all those climbs is tough and like you said tough route considering how up and down it is with short rests in between!
Haha 😂 I was a little pushed for time with the warm up but I should be ok to spend a little longer next race! Thanks mate, I was quite happy with 9th, it’d be nice to get top 5 some point soon, I’ll give your suggestion a go next race, I do have a tendency to accept defeat sometimes too easily so focusing on the HR and breathing will really help - thanks Ray 👍🏻
Great video as always mate! I agree with you, this is the toughest 1hr course especially with the start. I'm hoping to get a race in this weekend, what shape i'll be in who knows! lol but like you say sometimes life and work etc get in the way. Keep up the great work Ollie!
Thanks very much mate! 👍🏻👍🏻 It’s such a tough start and you know what I’m like if full gas from the go! Be great if you manage a race at the weekend - hope it goes well, I’ll be doing the 10:30 chasing Vlaanderen on Sunday if you fancy that one? Always good to hear from you mate 👍🏻
Let's do it I'm in! this'll be interesting after 3 weeks off but lets see what the legs have got! see you then I can't wait@@notpogi
Love it mate! That’s excellent news - see you Sunday 👍🏻
Ouch, that is a tough route to do without a thorough warmup first! The Zwift KOM right at the start is such a killer. Congrats on another top 10 mate. I'm hoping to do a few more of these now FRR is finished, they look fun. 👊💪
Ha! I’ll definitely warm up better next time, it’s a shock to the system putting a load of watts down early! Thanks mate, hopefully I’ll work my way up to a top 5 soon - be good if we could get into one of these races together 👍🏻 Hope you’re fully recovered now from FRR, did you enjoy the last tour?
@@notpogi I think I'm still fatigued from FRR tbh, my legs feel so heavy and sore, and I only did one week! 😬 I didn't really enjoy this FRR, it always felt like a chore rather than a fun race as I was struggling every race. I probably wasn't in any fit shape to do it and should have pulled the plug on it rather than limping on through it. By the way, what's up with the Tron wheels in your video, they are all glowing white, I don't think I've seen that before?
No idea re the Tron wheels mate, sometimes they look like that for some strange reason, maybe it’s something to do with the ATV maybe?
I know what you mean about FRR this time round, I knew I wouldn’t be able to commit to them all and after France and Watopia I was happy with what I’d done so just left it there! You did amazing to push on through and finish it, I’m sure it gave you some decent fitness gains 👍🏻
Well it’s like I’ve watched that race twice now 😂 I think you did really well mate that is a real punchy course I was keeping one eye on the rabbit in your group and you, your sprint at the end was good mate especially after those climbs titans that way around is not easy I think you should be happy as you never dropped and stayed with it
Thanks mate much appreciated and sorry for the confusion on my part at the start of the race when we messaged - I think I must have been delirious from the initial effort lol 😂
I really struggle with titans that way round - I was happy to make it to the end with that group, the rabbit was very strong 💪🏻 enjoyed it though - would be good to see you race one of these mate 👍🏻
@@notpogi I might jump on some as we have started the ladder league and it’s good for ranking points
Well done. Keep up the great racing!
Thanks Roy 👍🏻, how have you been getting on in these?
@@notpogi Top 24th in GC. I'm low in the power range for B cat so I'm pretty happy with my results so far
Looking forward to seeing you guys over in IndieVelo instead of Zwift!
I’m really looking forward to a few IndieVelo rides, good to try something new and I’ve heard great things about the platform 👍🏻
Road to sky is hardest one hour course, if you can do it that fast. Got 2m season PB on Hilly and spit out back as chase B caught As right before kicker up onto Titans. 😢
Road to sky is a very tough course, that’s a once a year type race it’s that tough! Normally that’s just over the hour mark for me though! Great job with the 2 minute PB 👍🏻 I find that’s the tricky thing about mass category starts, it’s very difficult keeping up as soon as it gets hilly!
Hey I was in this race too, in the group just ahead. This is an interesting course for sure. The most difficult? I think people make the race easy or hard, sure there's less places to hide because there is so much rolling terrain, but also Chasing Tour are rather good quality, with very strong people. The mass start also distorts the categories a bit and can be harder to stay with the pack than the usual, especially at the beginning of the race.
Nice work 👍🏻 There are some other very difficult courses but you’re absolutely right - the race is made what it is by who’s racing and how it’s raced. There are some excellent/very strong riders in the Chasing Tour and the mass starts make it super difficult for sure - I think it definitely helps having a decent 5 min power and trying to hold the group for as long as possible! Hopefully see you Sunday - I’m in the 10:30am UK race if you’re doing it? 👍🏻
@@notpogi For sure will do the Sunday race, not sure that "early", because of work I've adapted myself to riding in the evenings. This next race is going to be a very difficult one (course and race field).
I often find the later races suit me best also! Yeah it’ll be very tough, not much rest time again before efforts… good luck with the race 👍🏻
I think the cobble climbs and horrogate course are the toughest. Constant big efforts
Yeah very good call actually- both of those are right up there for me also 👍🏻
Hardest course under 1hr... Royal Pump Room 8 in Yorkshire... just awful lol..
I agree that one is so disgusting!! A lot of the Yorkshire courses are very lumpy mate!
👀👀
Hey! How’d you get on in this one?
@@notpogi Fine, but why speed up a nice race and video?
I was thinking about also uploading this series at normal speed additionally to these videos without the commentary 👍🏻
@@notpogi I love watching the full video...but others might like the quick video more...
Buddy! Don't be hard on yourself - you did great! Looking forward in racing together my friend! Let's keep the grind going strong! BOOM
Thanks mate, I really tried hard on this one but found it a bit of a struggle with the punchy course! Be great if we could get in another race together soon - we’ve got this mate 👍🏻👍🏻
