the western validation thing is funny to me, considering that BTS submitted "BE" to the Grammys for the AOTY, The Best engineering of an album, Pop-vocal album but didn't get nominated in any of these categories. BTS don't seek western validation, Grammys just refuse to acknowledge any of their non-English projects that were deserving of a nomination.
I've literally been saying this for the last 10 months. People really forget that bighit submits their Korean work - the recording academy just chooses not to nominate them.

If they are submitting their music to a western award show, then yes they are in a way seeking western validation. If they don’t care then they should stop submitting their music to the Grammys.

My BFF used to be an army but she's no longer keeping up with them. However she has never said anything negative against the boys, she just moved on. she still fangirls every time she sees Jimin and sleeps with her chimmy pillow because, you know, once you jimin you can't jim out, but she genuinely doesn't know much about what's happening to him these days and it's fine. I don't know why others can't be like that. I especially hate ex-army who feel like it's necessary to downplay BTS or even degrade them to be accepted in another fandom (and I hate fandoms that validate that behavior). most of the bigger idols do come from well off families, and especially if they're foreigners, from what I observe. it is very rare to see bigger foreign idols (especially if they're from like, china or thailand) that come from middle or working class families. this is not to hate or anything though. it's just observations, and acknowledging how most people's faves have more connections than they let on. if anything it's pointing to the fact that getting into the idol industry and finding even middling success is incredibly hard when you're poor, and even harder if you're poor and not korean.

It only makes sense that wealthy candidates would be more successful. Who had the opportunity for lessons or coaches? Who can take the time out of education to repeatedly audition, and who needs to work to support themselves or afford school? Sure there are some incredibly driven or talented individuals that get in, but not as often.

Dynamite is still charting despite it being almost 2 years since it's been released and kpop groups' new comebacks can't outsream or outchart dynamite using 2022 data alone. Enlistment or not dynamite alone will still be outcharting and having more longivety than any other kpop song for the next few years

BTS is not going anywhere. Even if they disband. Army is just going to stream their music. They think people are just going to flock to other groups
They will Fans age out of obsessing over idols, Idols age out of wanting to be idols. It is a cycle and it is a young persons game. BTS members will have success in other areas probably for the rest of their lives. But not in KPOP. Younger fans are already replacing BTS hardcore fans and as BTS fans mature, they realize it's just good music not a lifestyle obsession. Once they do their military service and are in active for 2 years, they won't be at the same level as now. No one stays on top forever, that is life. BTS fans need to come to terms with that soon because their military service time will be here before you know it.

I really love this channel, another channels I like that defends BTS are Sonyeonstan, there is even a video where she talks about RM being the punching bag of kpop which I found so good as well, and a reactor that I really appreciate is MonqTV. He reacts to many artists, but I personally only watch the BTS ones and he has always defended BTS with facts pointing the false claims made by antis. He is an ex underground rapper which trully understand hip hop. He defended Yoongi explaining from a hip hop perspective the use of the Jim Jones sample, he defended BTS when people said they shouldn't have made the cover for "I'll be missing you", also there is a reaction for their 2022 Grammy performance where he shared his thoughts.
i dont know how so many stans see idols wear designer stuff in tons of predebut pictures, be students at sopa or hanlim, talk about how they lived or vacationed abroad, and think, "yes, this is an average lifestyle". it's not like stans are completely oblivious to it but it's normalized to the point where many of them think that lifestyle is nothing special

i don't completely agree with the blackpink opinion, i kinda get where you're coming from but i feel like at least rosé and jennie really want to release new music. jennie is shading yg left and right, in interviews, live shows etc. that she wants more songs for blackpink. and rosé always gave off the most "musician" vibes to me, the way she talks about music and everything. not so sure about jisoo and lisa though, i could see jisoo more as an actress and lisa's solo showed that she's not really soloist material and more of a dancer/performer in my opinion. but we'll see. btw what i noticed is that the girls especially jennie seem to be really happy and carefree at the moment so i just want them to do whatever makes them the happiest even if it's slowly ditching the usual idol route (what they've been doing for quite some time now). so maybe you are right, sometimes i feel like they're just over it after all the years when yg used to let them rot for real and it may just killed their passion or motivation idk.

I don't think it was desperation but rather an expectation especially when it came to how bts stans reacted to things prior to this year and how their stans treated other people and groups fans for doing things even if it was somethin like another group making music in english for their fans. It still confuses me why people especially kpop stans of any group use "stan" unironically. All I can chalk up this new maturity of bts fans is to the fact they have grown up.
I personally don't think any of the music bts has submitted to the grammys deserves a Grammy, however I do think it is necessary that they submit their very mediocre cute family movie in english music to the Grammys to even get a nomination.
The Grammys are very racist, very sexist etc, I am still waiting for bts fans and other artist fans to realise that, and I doubt bts will do anything to upset the Grammys because they really do want one it is a shame that they have to submit subpar music because of how racist they, when they have a plethora of music in korean that actually deserves to be submitted.

I do not think people are trying to make Army look horrible, it's just that from the constant behaviour they've shown their reaction now is not in line with their usual.
You can not deny that a large majority of army are or atleast hopefully were stans, who are now thinking sensibly, and realising their behaviour was gross and not only made the fandom look bad but subsequently the artists too.
Honestly it's one of the many reasons I stopped being part of kpop fandoms, especially when majority of them self identify with being a stan unironically.
I hope bts can submit actually good music to the grammys no matter the language, however I find it implausible atleast for now that they'd be nominated for anything other than english, and they're definitely not going to ruffle any feathers so good luck to them and the scammys.

Some might disagree bt they seem like the idols who use the gp for promoting solo works n I think they r happy being influencers, shooting ads and cb once in a yr or 2 as it might require a lot more work n might interfere w their solo schedules. Kpop stans are making up shit at this point. My whole timeline was screaming about the performance till the end of the show and then we collectively watched the Vlive. And I'm pretty sure if ARMYs dug deep enough, we would discover that many of those hateful army accounts were created by kpop stans. It's baffling how much effort kpop stans put into paining ARMYs in a bad light and making us all look like some cartoon villain.
But digressing, BTS's grammy stage was the biggest fuck you towards the recording academy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the category is called best duo/group PERFORMANCE and objectively Butter was the best and their performance proved that. Moreover, BTS stay winning because everyone I know said that their stage was the highlight of the show and I can already see so many new fans coming. And on a side note: they should separate actual duos/groups from collabs because it's quite obvious that viral collab has the best chances at winning.
What's more pathetic though: kpop fans who were making fun of ARMYS' disappointment and who were celebrating BTS's loss at the same time. Not to be mean but most kpop groups and 'grammy award' will never be mentioned in the same sentence, they're simply not impactful enough. And yet kpop stans celebrated grammy's snub louder than their faves' actual achievements.
secondly, I feel like 90% of kpop stans on all platforms are BTS' antis. So many stans wear hating BTS as a badge of honor. We have weekly crying sessions about how westernized or bad BTS' music has become as if 95% of active kpop groups haven't released English singles/English versions of the songs. Edgy kpop stans make being ex-ARMY their whole personality. And no one is more concerned about the enlistment than some random Jenny from Arizona or Claire from France.
And about BP: I've been saying this since 2019 but they make millions just by being influencers and they really seem to enjoy this type of lifestyle (travelling for fashion shows etc). Not everyone has strict works ethics and creates music 7 days a week. Why take more difficult path when you can live a comfortable and wealthy life without spending hours upon hours in a recording studio. I used to be a huge fan at the beginning because you could see the passion and determination but the last 2-3 comebacks were just underwhelming. The songs were as good as always but the passion is gone. All the collabs and side works seem like they're not doing it for music but only to be seen (that abomination of taki taki wannabe or Grimes cameo and I'm still salty about IC being recorded only to be submitted for the grammys). I'm still gonna tune in for the comebacks because the songs are objectively good but I don't really feel like the girls are here for the music anymore. (that's just my opinion though, feel free to disagree and maybe in secret they're really preparing an album with 15 new tracks)

I have always found it so weird how much foreign fans have to say about military enlistment. I don’t even have a well formulated opinion yet and I’ve studied politics in Korea 3 years now - it’s just such a complicated issue and there is a real barrier of understanding between Korean natives and foreigners. This is also a massive feminist issue so there’s that added controversy as well. At the end of the day this is Korean domestic politics and most foreigners have no idea what they’re talking about.

Right now you're the only Kpop youtube account i watch and are subscribed to, Like 5 months ago i was subscribed to atleast 10 other accounts, and coz i liked their views on other topics i almost always overlooked the BTS slander till award season came and people took it too far. K-Poppies are extremely bitter all the time about BTS, so much so that they project their own group's shortcomings and their fandom's inability to reach the success they want for their favs onto BTS. Notice how so many stans like to hate so much over BTS rather than focus on their favs and get them the goals their favorite groups wanted to achieve in their comebacks? Like, K-Pop is honestly fully dependent on fandom power, and your favs literally want to harness that to achieve a certain level of success per comeback. It's your fault as a so called fully fledged fan of a certain group that you guys aren't able to gift your favs their desired goals for their new releases. You project that frustration onto BTS. And the fact that BTS is the most popular group in the world and in the mainstream, and that's your only reason that you hate them, because they're mainstream and you like 'underrated groups'.. is just baffling, and shows you're a 'pick me' person who literally chooses to like stuff based on whether they're unique or not. You're not actually unique, you're just trying to be purposefully come off as unique rather than organically find new music to like. K-Poppies stay mid, BTS stays winning.

The reason why BLACKPINK can go on such long hiatuses is because the amount of endorsement deals they get are so endless, that if you take a minute to think about, the insane amount of money take from modelling and similar sort of deals FAR SURPASSES the amount of money YG would make if they kept releasing music traditionally like other K-Pop idols. They have unironically found a way for singers to make more money from being supermodels and influencers than they would have from releasing 1 or 2 full length albums per year. I don't really know how the girls feel about it. There's no denying they have one of the greatest vocalists and dancers in K-Pop but BLACKPINK has completely lost me. People label them as the ultimate girl power group. How are they representing girl power if their entire careers are controlled by a corporation run by money-hungry, incompetent men? How can they represent girl power if their ability to release music depends on their company and it's executives? The fact that BLACKPINK has fully embraced the supermodel influencer lifestyle at this point has made the already superficial nature of their K-Pop origins (as like all other groups) even more shallow. No authenticity, no depth whatsoever. There is little to no content. The fanbase has become completely divided, filled with solo stans. Blinks are the most toxic fandom to exist in K-Pop. Sucks because BLACKPINK's songs are such huge bangers.
3. Racism is so ingrained in the South Korean nation is that these people don't even realize what they are doing is wrong. To have been born into that culture has made some of their racist sayings fly off their mouths with ease, because they have little to no cultural sensitivity teachings. These racist remarks are definitely disgusting and unforgivable, but what is forgivable are the people who said them, actually improving. You have to realize these people were born in a toxic society to begin with, as like most societies are, and the fact that a lot of idols, like RM, Lisa and MAMAMOO have learnt to realize their mistakes, whether it be cultural appropriation or racial remarks, through their fans educating them in masses online. Nobody is perfect, even the most prettiest idols. It is not our duty to shame them and condemn them, rather try and educate them on the problems they can fully fix; like their mindsets on culture and races.
3.1: Continuing Point 3, educating idols does not equal confronting them on their virtual fan signs or calls. It's extremely embarrassing for the idols, but more importantly, it's not effective, because more than often, in the heat of the moment, they feel confronted and scared, and don't even realize what they've done wrong because some of them are so far behind in cultural sensitivity, or the other likely scenario is that their company staff cuts you off. No work is done, it's just embarrassment for both the caller and the idol. Just raise awareness in masses in Twitter and forward it to their company mail. Trust me, it works because idols are active in social media more often than you think and emailing the companies are the most effective solution. Take Jake from ENHYPEN as an example. The poor boy was given a Necklace reading Allah that was PROVIDED by the stylist. I don't see how people can blame him for not knowing Arabic and not knowing that it was an offensive way to make Islam an aesthetic?? Like bruh, hes a kid from Australia/South Korea, one of the most ignorant countries. Obviously, he won't know what it means. The fans bullied him in his lives in hordes of comments, and it was disgusting. MAIL THE COMPANY and blame the people responsible, not him. It was really sad. If the idol is at fault and directly the root of the problem, please just use social media in a non passive aggressive way to bring awareness. Don't embarrass both parties in fan calls. If you do, please be kind and gentle with them, otherwise they won't even realize their wrongdoings, they'll only be scared.

The western industry, in particular US or UK, will probably form a group and with huge industry support shove them down everyone's throat so in the global market we'll get another 1D, not bts. Kpop won't strive with bts gone, the industry won't be any nicer to korean artists with bts gone. exemptions are given when someone has contributed to the spread of sk and its culture, etc. in a significant way and its undeniable that bts have done even more than the people who have previously been given exemptions. kpop stans are just mad because no other kpop idol has been able to do the same - hence why they were never given any consideration for exemption.
i would say that people from more well off families are the ones that can afford singing and dancing lessons. without instruction, even naturally talented people would struggle to refine their skill well enough to pass an audition

GIIIIIRRRRRLLLL I don't wanna name names but there's at least one idol that comes to mind that really isn't THAT talented, especially compared to the rest of the group, but was getting so much exposre before they were chosen by the public as the face of the group and it had ALWAYS given me nepotism vibes cause they're from a rich family. Sometimes people become the public's fave simply because the company is pushing them more and sometimes i feel like people's parents use their money and connections to pressure the company that way or the company on their own feels like they can't dare not to turn the son/daughter of the rich family into a star.

But some of the shit I have seen other idols do was WILD to me. It was so ignorant (if i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt) that i have never seen that shit in the west publically and especially unchallenged. Yet you'd have many of the same people who stan those folks hate on Wendy like she killed babies for fun. If you think what she did is the worst of the worst and can never be forgiven, there is hardly any group where people haven't done worse so if you were honest and consistent you would have dropped kpop entirely a while ago. People are just being performative when it comes to her. And yeah her accident has nothing to do with her bad "parody", so it's vile to mock her for that.
Also your last point is so true. For non-black kpop stans those instances of idols being anti-black are legit just ammo for fanwars. They don't realize that it causes real harm. They don't care baout us calling it out beyond fanwars and that's why they don't have the sensitivity to not leave it around with zero tw. Most kpop fans don't care about black people and are anti-black themselves so I really DO NOT CARE about them discussing anti-black racism AT ALL.

6. kpop Yter to BTS anti pipeline is a great way to put it because it legit works like the alt right pipeline where it's the audience and the creator being in a vicious cycle dragging them both to the worst. I feel like a lot of the kpop Yter may not have much negativity against BTS at first, but if they aren't explicitly praising them it leaves room in their audience for genuine anti-BTS talking points. The creators then see those talking points and feed into them for numbers because as RM said antis are as obsessed with BTS as Army are, and give engagement to people talking poorly about them. Over time the creator is trapped in that cycle and gives worse and worse takes to the point that they genuinely start believe in those talking points bc they surrounded themselves with that negative energy too much.

9. Nah i can't agree with that one. Blackpink is more valuable as a whole brand to YG than the members individually. They have a lot of solo stans sure, but that's exactly why from YG's perspective what will give them the most money is the group comebacks since it would be summing all the solo stans together. However they tend to keep the group comebacks on the side until they reach the breaking point, because they've been running on a "low maintenance - high reward " strategy for a while and you can hear it especially in the music quality. They also use them to distract people from scandals at YG. I think the girls are somewhat free to go do stuff on their own but when it comes to releases YG has the last say. Gallant talked about contacting Rosé for a feature and he struggled with the company and it never happened. It makes sense, they are probably under exclusive contracts with YG music wise, so if YG feels like that feature doesn't fit their "low maintenance - high reward" calculations they have no insentive to greenlight it. And since they are not allowed to be very involved in the group music, the releases are primarily the product of YG themselves. I wouldn't be suprised if next year at least half the group doesn't resign with them. YG's track record with female groups speaks for itslef.

I personally can’t agree with the “stop sharing idols being anti-black online” thing. The reason idols appropriating black culture while also so freely fetishizing blk people and our culture or just outright being racist is because people would hide these things. I’ve put a lot of trust and support in idols for years just to find out all that time I spent saving up for their albums and such was pretty much useless cause they don’t like black people, and I would always wish someone would’ve let me known before joining and fandom or something. Honestly, it becomes more and more clear to me every single day that there is a hugeeeeee chunk of kpop stans (not all, I know there’s a lot of people who genuinely stan and love kpop groups) that use their hate for BTS to fuel their ‘love’ for kpop. The fact that they use BTS as the measure for their ‘faves’ successes on every achievement (“omg ended BTS”, “coming to end BTS”, “So much better than BTS”) says it all. I’m absolutely sure that it won’t just be armys that leave kpop when BTS is gone, but also a lot of kpop stans. Because I genuinely don’t think they’ll care to keep token stanning their ‘faves’ when BTS isn’t there for drama and comparison anymore.
