They really should have let Gate take over as the new lead villain for X6, rather than shoehorn Sigma back in. Just imagine what kind of screen-filling second form Gate could have had. Also, Isoc should have become the new arc villain going forward. He would have worked perfectly as the "Professor" of Mega Man X7, manipulating Red just as he did Gate. And then things would have gotten _real_ interesting in X8 with Lumine... Speaking of missed opportunities, I can't help but feel like Gate's DNA research should have lead to the development of the Chameleon Chip that Axl uses. Isoc could have taken that research and overseen the development of New Generation Reploids from behind the scenes, using Gate, Red, and Lumine each in turn. Where Sigma made the mistake of engaging X and Zero directly, Isoc would make it a point of avoiding direct confrontation at all costs, proving himself a threat thanks to his cunning and ingenuity rather than raw power and resilience.
Its such a schame that X5-X6 arc was simply thrown away, the continuoisity should've been kept but unfortunately due to the things going @ capcom at the moment it was kind of hard to achieve, such a missed opporunity indeed, it would've been a perfect continuation to X7-X8 but instead it simply was thrown away.... When X9 gets possibly made [and actually it is possible] i wonder if they will retcon him into the current 'canon' into the alt story that began with X7
Honestly, that might very been the direction they were going in, Axl's copy chip seems way too outrageous to simply appear out of nowhere. I kept hoping until X8 for either Gate or Isoc to pull a Sigma and come back from the grave (although we never actually get confirmation Gate died at the end of X6).
Sigma is the goat of the villains in the X series. Even in the Zero series he was still around, initially and took the effort of a super program to finally erase him. Sigma is important to the story thanks to the fact he carries the Wily Virus which makes him important. Gate is not important to the story. Isoc is just another Wily avatar, but Wily acts in the shadows as he heavility did in X5. LUMINE despite being the real final boss of X8, is not important to the story. The only thing Lumine set up was the fact the new gen reploids were dangerous and could go maverick at will without the influence of the Sigma virus. Also the new gen reploids like Lumine could become angel like robots, a trait that is prominent in the Zero series with Copy-X and other robots
Axl's Copy Chip and the mystery of where he came from did actually lead me to believe that Gate was his creator, even if only in the blueprint stage. A lot of Axl's attributes are in line with the 7 non-Ground Sacaravich Investagtors, and so I figured Gate had either locked him away to be his perfect creation that all others are based on post taking over the world or was still in the process of building him/was still just a blueprint during X6 and Isoc or Sigma took him and gave him to some third party to reverse engineer. Then when they were testing on him or whatever he woke up somehow and just left.

@@mintbrisk5961 Whaaat you actually tried that and still had trouble? when trouble happens even as Zero especially Zero in black armor then something is wrong. I dunno I found it made 10x easier as Zero he made the game a breeze and his double jump helps a ton in there. black armor him even better due to increased damage, no knockback during damage he stays in place and reduced damage taken heh an all around beast but X that Shadow Armor I found some parts of Gate lab easier with it due to spike immunity since some parts of the stage become spike happy. X will need a high jump unpgrade though since he cannot double jump so some parts become more hellish.

This game was rushed. I think Isoc was supposed to be a boss. Also, the levels themselves were supposed to have more variety. But instead, they chose to rush this game through, and thus, there are problems!
I love this track. It really captures the intensity of a bitter, fast paced rivalry battle against someone you seemingly can't shake and also can't stand.

After replaying all the Mega Man games in one sitting for the first time in 20 years, I can honestly say this one was in a top 3 for most difficult bosses in the entire franchise. They seriously went way overboard on that difficulty with this guy.

You need to get Zero's defense upgrade, and this game instantly becomes easy. Without it you can still beat it but Zero takes damage like crazy.
Shadow Armor? Nah, It's best to beat him with Zero because that armor doesn't have Dash to do that FREAKING JUMP

No he did not get killed by the virus. When they defeated High Max, Isoc also gets killed because they shared some circuit thing

Lol I think the first time I ever did this part, as a rotten cheating 12 year old, I just used x’s ultimate armor. When I played through again without, pretty sure I was using Zero, I recall being surprised just how difficult this battle is without using any cheap moves

everything about gate is cool but. all you have to do in a fight is jump between left and right platform lol
I know speedrunners hate it, but the Gate battle was probably my favorite for the X series, and this track has a lot to do with that.
I hate Gate with a burning passion cuz of how shitty his boss fight and the boss stage is but I'll admit,
His theme is awesome and his design is beautiful and badass.
