It still amazes me how well Beetlejuice works as a musical, It gives the characters so much more depth, and I'd argue Alex Brightman has become even more iconic as Beetlejuice than Micheal Keaton. And now to end this comment before I say "Beetlejuice" a third... Oh no.

These Oscar-winning films are certainly memorable. They've made a huge impact on our lives as well.
It might not have won an Oscar but I'd love to see Barbie as the princess and the pauper turned into a musical. It's a really good movie and it has the potential to be a great musical.

"Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper" is one of my favorite movies of all time, and it's one of the perfect movies to be adapted into a Broadway musical because every song in the movie SOUNDS LIKE A BROADWAY SHOWTUNE. In fact, I feel like if "The Princess and the Pauper" does become a Broadway show, it would be a smash hit and everyone would get tickets.
I also think that the second Barbie movie that deserves to become a Broadway musical is "Barbie as the Island Princess." Every song in the movie is also amazing, and that's because they were all written by the same songwriters for "The Princess and the Pauper." Megan Callavari and Amy Powers, and the orchestra score for both movies was composed by Arnie Roth.

One thing I love about the original Broadway cast of "Beauty and the Beast" is that Belle is played by Susan Egan who also played Megara in "Hercules"
And voiced Rose Quartz in Steven Universe. Along with Patti LuPone voicing Yellow Diamond

It’s not “broadway” really, it’s too seasonal, but I’ve been SCREAMING for it to be a seasonal show at one of the Parks. Like…it’s a guaranteed cash cow, so I’m shocked it hasn’t been done.

I saw Sunset Boulevard in LA before it went to broadway. The tickets were a gift, and they were first row orchestra. Glenn Close was amazing

I saw Lion King when it came to Chicago and I was amazed by how good it was. Especially the opening song.
I have Shrek the Musical on DVD it was part of the Shrek DVD collection. At least Frozen had songs in it already. Beauty and the Beast also has songs. Lion King has songs too!!

Not a movie, but there is a book called The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells. It’s about a woman whose brother dies of AIDS in the 1980s. She becomes depressed and goes to counseling. The counselor does something that causes her to jump back and forth through time into the 1910s after WWI, and the 1940s during WWII, and back to the 80s. It would make a perfect musical using music from the different time periods
I got to see the Lion King on stage last month and it did not disappoint. The entire production was AMAZING and deserves the number one spot on this list.

The Greatest Showman would be amazing as a stage musical adaptation, with all the acrobats and performers and they could do puppets similar to Lion King for all the animals.

That’s what I was thinking ever since I saw the movie for the first time the greatest showman should be on Broadway.
Of course Lion King is #1. Circle of Life is one of the most perfect numbers ever put on stage. These are all good, though it may need an update in the near future. Apparently, Some Like it Hot is fantastic on Broadway right now. Picking a random movie is hard, but if I had to pick the next Disney animated film to get a production (besides Hercules - which has already had a few productions but not come to Broadway yet) I might have to pick Encanto. Miranda could easily expand the score and I can just imagine the Disney stage team figuring out how to do the magic and the house being alive. The only one that would be really tricky is Camilo and his shapeshifting. Having seen Harry Potter and the Curse Child, the rest of it is totally doable.

My grandma used take me and my family to see Broadway musicals when I I was younger. It was really fun to watch it. I recently went to go see the lion king on Broadway and it was amazing. It’s one of my favorite Broadway musicals of all time based on my favorite Disney movie. I am a really big fan of it and I love it so much and I can’t stop listening to it. I wish they would bring back you in the beast on Broadway as well and I’m hoping that the SpongeBob musical can tour again hopefully I can go see them when they come on tour, I went and saw hello Dolly with my last ex-boyfriend back in 2019 before the Covid hit and it was really fun to watch it. Broadway shows are amazing that are based off movies that we’ve come to watch in love, but my favorite of all time as lion king the musical

it should be noted that Moulin Rouge only won best actor at the tonys because one actor was nominated. It was the first tonys after covid but there were definitely other actors that could have been nominated

Filmmakers, please also do this the other way round - turn musicals into regular films - so that we can enjoy the story without being interrupted several times by incongruous song & dance routines.

Sorry but without "The Producers" high in the ranking this list is garbage. The record breaking 11 Tony Awards winning musical should be at least second. Original movie won an Oscar for Best Screenplay.
