It's cool that your minder was one of the engineers and not just a PR / marketing person or someone they'd trained for the event. Diego seemed genuinely proud of the vehicle, and that's really not something you can take for granted these days, in _any_ industry.
My daily driver is a 2nd gen Ford Escape. I don't off-road it, but I really like its ground clearance, utility, and general ability. The Bronco Sport, I feel, is a spiritual successor to the 1st and 2nd Gen escape, which was more truck-like than the 3rd Gen got away from. I'd replace my Escape with one of these in a heartbeat given the ability.
I miss my 2nd gen Escape so much, especially because it has a V6. Looked for a used one but they've all got so many miles on them! Wish these Bronco Sports came with a better powertrain, especially for the price of the top trims.
How did I not know there was a Bronco 2? This channel is awesome. Love the history and witty humor the format keeps me engaged for the full half hour which is difficult to do these days!
Alanis, your videos are really great and quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to reviews with new vehicles. I know it's a lot of work, music, and cinematography is spot on. The history report at the beginning is my favorite part. I truly have no business looking at new cars, but you make it fun.
Baby Badlands owner here. I was stoked to read about the Sasquatch and then the DAY OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT ALANIS HAS A VID?! 🎉 LOVE it. A note on the interior, the higher trim option seats are better. Mud wipes right off--pawprints too!
Watching this before I go to work with dedication that would make bobs guy jealous 😂. Honestly though, I enjoy your take on the bronco. I think you’ve really found your groove making these videos! The “alanis handle” was the icing on the cake hahaha
Thank you for explaining unibody vs body on frame. I couldn’t tell you how long I’ve been consuming car content without a plain English definition (google was no help).
I remember when the Escape first started to look tough. Funny how quickly that turned into the typical crossover design language when the Bronco/Bronco Sport were confirmed. I can't help but see this as the cutesy baby Bronco in training. Kinda like when you see a lion cub mimicking an adult
A Bronco Sport hybrid would be a massive seller in my opinion. Production capacity is the only thing holding them back, as they’ve hardly been able to keep up with the Maverick hybrid demand as it is.
Oooh! An Alanis King upload on a MONDAY???!! OK!!! My Monday isn't so bad after all! Lol! Might I add, the down home country music in the beginning...nice touch! But I knew the classical music was coming at some point, Lol! Excellent vid!
It's a good inbetween vehicle for some people like me, who want a good daily and some weekend light duty "offroad" vehicle. Only thing that it now needs is a proper low range - that would be just incredible!
Another great review--and the archival footage of the old Bronco was especially cool. I'm not the Bronco Sport's demographic, but I have to admit Ford's done an excellent job with its appearance.
great review! funny memory - a couple years after it was introduced, the Bronco II started to develop a reputation for easily rolling over. A friends parents had just bought one - 13 year old car nerd me bit my tongue and didn't mention the rolling over bit. One winter morning we were riding the bus to school. Traffic got really slow and when the reason came into view, it was his moms Bronco II on its roof 🙃 (she was fine)
I think the Bronco Sport is a good compromise between a city and light offroad vehicle. Ford added some nice features that would work for the majority of people. Having any sort of underbody protection is something most crossovers don't have and is needed for their lower ground clearance. It will be interesting to see how their sales do once the AT4 GMC Terrain comes out! GM is nuts for dropping their 2.0L engine. Having owned both the 1.5L and the 2.0L, the 1.5 feels quite weak. Ford has the right mindset in giving buyers a more powerful engine for their higher trim models.
I do like the Bronco sport... Not too concerned about the unibody construction.. I work in forestry and had one of these as my rental work vehicle one trip. Was the badlands edition.. Does what you need it to do I can attest lol...and surprisingly quick lol.
The sport is practical, capable (enough) and frankly I think if looks ok as a daily driver. I’m told it’s a fairly fun drive. But I need something to tow 4-down behind my RV, and apparently Ford is just not gonna let that happen with the sport! Here I save for another year for a full size Bronco
The “Big” Bronco is the better looking vehicle for sure. But the Bronco Sport is so much better to live with and ride in. A buddy of mine just got a Sport and I’m surprised at how much I liked it.
Great review. I am 6”1. Will I be comfortable in a Bronco Sport? Will there be enough legroom behind me? I am looking at either getting this or a Ford Explorer. Thanks!
I should've taken more notice of room in the front seat, but I think you will be able to fit comfortably! A lot of legroom and headroom for you, from what I could tell. But like you mentioned: Behind you, there won't be any. Thank you for watching!
@@scupking thanks!! I can swing 45k for a Bronco Sport Badlands with Sasquatch package but the Explorers I like (ST-Line/ST) are a bit pricey and not sure how capable they would be off-road.
I feel like this will be a nightmare to work on. Too many computers with a complicated ecoboost engine, and don't forget that cramped under hood space.
I wanted to love both of these Broncos, especially the two door version. However, with all the advancement in technology with engines, I'd think Ford would've gave us better fuel economy and towing capacity on these.😮💨
The stupid radio volume style gear shift dial stays stuck in park if the driver door reads as open. Sounds safe but, if the door sensor / wiring goes bad that means you can't put in Drive and you have a 3000 lb paperweight. Also, 1-pedal? This is a fat NO!
Everyone complains about truck prices (me included) so car brands introduce models that you kinda want at a better price. Then they make a cooler version (maverick tremor) and boom!, there goes the affordability. It sucks.
Needs a higher suspension and bigger wheels. Not much though. I am not a lift kit guy. I tend to like low vehicles. But if you are going to go off road with this, It's not going to end well.
@@AlanisKing I posted the comment before I saw the sasquatch package. I like that upgrade. If I were to ever get a sport, I'd opt for the squatch package! Good video!
For families that can only afford one vehicle, the sport makes more sense than the big boy Bronco. Suburban family hauler, parking in a city, and the camping vacation once a year, the smaller size is a lot more practical. 99.9% of real buyers aren't going to push a sport so hard off road that the big boy Bronco is a necessary upgrade.
I'm only watching this to support you so you can do reviews on vehicles people actually care about. no car enthusiast cares about this vehicle and trim.
The bronco sport is actually the better choice for most people actual use case : daily driving. Dont want people to not know its not an actual truck? Debadge the sport label.
Ehh…. Not really an off-roader here, but you’re going to have these getting winched off moderate-difficult trails for sure. At best looks suitable for light overlanding a la the Subaru Wilderness series and things like that.
No need to watch any other review of this vehicle! You have dropped the definitive one right here … Congrats!
