"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
    “Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode. “That Raytheon decided they don’t hate gays or trans people - frankly, I don’t really give a shit what their take on that is..."

As a married parent of two kids, I really think what's "ideal" is two parents. Kids are back breaking work, and I honestly don't understand how single parents survive. Regarding whether it's two men, two women or m/f, I don't think that matters nearly as much as just having two parents splitting the labor.

And even if a child has 2 parents (no matter the gender combination), one might be emotionally absent. The child loses on that front. There's also this misconception that a gay man/woman can't take on the necessary gender roles required to raise a child. Then again, gender roles are antiquated.

What I find interesting about Shapiro is he touts his ideas being based in logic. YET, much of his social agenda is based on the ideals of his religion, which are not based in logic. If you want to bother, go back and find the Joe Rogan podcast from a few years ago Shapiro was on. He openly admits he doesn't approve of gay people getting married because of his religious beliefs. Later he realized that was not a defensible argument and invented the man+woman= child is ideal for society nonsense.
Both he and now Peterson have created an academic fantasy of idealism when judging society. This idea of " if only straight couples raised kids that would be best for society." is so detached from real issues that affect society it's astounding. How about dealing with hunger, alcohol and drug abuse, poverty and poor education, (in the US!) before any of their nonsense is even listened to?

@@Gambit0590 I know that's what you've been told, but that's not true. Exodus 21:16 explicitly gives the death penalty to anyone trying to enslave/ sell someone into slavery. If you're referring specifically to Exodus 21:7, the daughter is not being sold as a slave, but as a wife. That's how it's written in the Septuagint. It's "domestic", not "maidservant", so not the best translation. Anyways, this was a rare occurence, but was sometimes done in the event of extreme poverty where the alternative is for the entire family to starve to death. So, no slavery. Exodus 21 allows indentured servitude, a way in which someone could repay their debt while the master (creditor) fully provided for the debtor AND his families' living necessities. The law also protected the servants' rights, like he would be instantly freed if the master injured him badly, for example. The master could give the debtor a wife and they could have children, but the woman given as a wife was originally the equivalent of a daughter to the master, so the wife and children where to remain with him when the servant finished paying off his debt/ the maximum allowed time of 7 years passed. In that case, the servant could choose to remain a servant forever in a mutually beneficial relationship with the master and receive a piercing as proof, but he didn't HAVE to take the wife the master offered him if he didn't want to. As for Leviticus 25:44-46, the word "slaves" is also referring to getting indentured servants, this time from foreign nations. Again, not the optimal translation with the context of Exodus 21:16 in mind. This is no different from hiring people in the modern day because they need a job and can't generate money themselves. They would then be protected having the same rights as fellow countrymen who were in servitude. And that's about it. I hope this helps!

It’s obviously not enough but they can’t even say maybe what they truly mean that gay people shouldn’t exist. Can’t say it anymore.
    2. How pissed would you be if you were a genuine religious people like a liberal Christian ala Episcopalian or Universalist who hears someone using their beliefs as a weapon to oppress, to hardline that certain people shouldn’t exist. Sanctifying and legitimizing are two different things. The law legitimizes same-sex marriage under the 14th amendment. A same-sex couple with a marriage license is legally married for all intents and purposes under the law such as tax filing, custody rights, etc. However, religions still have their say on sanctification of marriage based on their beliefs. Even a heterosexual couple married in city hall is considered unmarried from a religious perspective because it has not been sanctified.
I wish your arguments against religion were as well-informed and good faith as your arguments against neo-liberalism and late-stage capitalism.

    2) The government should have never adopted the term marriage as it did in 1913 with the inception of The Federal Reserve building a church and state through line of encroachment for its now one world impulse.
    3) marriage or civil union should not be a first or second class citizen and if it is it's only in you the liberals eyes not because anyone else said so. Why would someone who isn't Christian want to be married or adopt Christian ideology and rituals and then on top of that put it on a pedestal as to call it first class. This again starts and ends as a problem unilaterally with liberal ideology.
    4) For all governmental and legal intents and purposes Ben Shapiro is for equality He's just not for religious appropriation which to me makes plenty of sense.

I really think Kyle hit the nail on the head of the argument pretty early in the video, it's a religion thing and they're working backwards from that point. Perhaps Ben might make another argument that sticks at some point about gay marrige, but the core of why he's having the argument in the first place come from his religious beliefs. Its a pretty important point as to why you'll never get Ben or those like him to change views, because they at no point worked towards a rational conclusion on this issue, rather they have a cpnclusive opinion based upon whatever faith they believe in and they make other arguments about the issue targeted at those who don't automatically agree with them based on faith.

The government can not discriminate on benefits or rights granted to citizens or that citizens posses based on sex or gender. If marriage is a societal institution, gay people have the same rights and benefits as straight people or they aren't free.
