We swapped our 4 year old discovery sport for an karoq as a stopgap, planning to order another discovery sport later that same year. Three years later, we still had the karoq and loved it. So impressed were we with the skoda, we recently upgraded to an enyaq and again, we love it!
I recently took delivery of a 1.5 DSG sport line in the moon white and I can’t fault the car. Loads of room great to drive and a really nice looking car. The 1.5 engine has plenty of poke and I got 43 mpg on a long motorway run.
Just ordered 2nd karoq. The only downside is that the adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and road sign recognition should be standard on the Se-L. Similar Fords have it
I enjoyed watching this very honest review. I recently took delivery of my new Fabia colour edition, I do like the Karoq very much, however as I don’t have a large family, it’s slightly larger than my needs require. The lack of hybrid/electric options doesn’t put me off at all, in fact it keeps the price at a realistic level.
I have to agree Rebecca , the Skoda Karoq is a great all round car that is well proven. It's well equipped, roomy and super versatile. I think the understated looks add to the charm and not being in your face. Economy might not be class leading but for an SUV that's slightly more aerodynamic than a cathedral it's pretty good even on the 1.5 4x4 auto that was available in the UK for a time in 2019 (mid 30's in mine). it A very well done review! Thank you for sharing.
You're doing a great job, Rebecca! I just test-drove a new 1.5 petrol estate and loved it! I'm ordering a 7speed diesel automatic. Were it available, I would go for a hybrid 👍🏻
I have a 2019 Karoq with 1.5L Auto petrol plus the additional electronic cockpit, brilliant, the fuel economy over 28,000 miles has averaged 37.5 MPG, better on long runs, lower on short about town work. Having come to the brand from many years of BMW company cars, the Karoq is real value for money, does everything you ask of it and the seats are very comfortable, regular 3-4 hour journeys are no issue. The entertainment system is OK and Apple car play works well. The inbuilt mapping is good in terms of quality but not as slick as Goggle maps for flagging jams and roadworks. Overall we are really pleased with the Karoq, cannot recommend too highly.
We love our Karoq Edition. Bought it in Sept 2020 and we’ve covered 13,000 miles in it. We spec’d it with a host of extras - none of which were particularly expensive. All the car’s advantages far outweigh a couple of gripes. Namely, a skittery rear suspension and too-short holding straps on the VarioFlex rear seats when “tumbled”
Another informative, superb review by Rebecca, who incidently looks terrific in pony tails. Prince Harry missed the boat on his choice of Princess.....🧐🙄😤
Have just ordered one on Motability. This is probably the most practical car left on the scheme (after the demise of all the great MPVs) largely due to the varioflex seats, allowing enough space for a travel mobility scooter.
I still prefer the SEAT Ateca cousin. The folding/removable rear seats in the Karoq rob loads of headroom and my head was pressed against the roof. No such issues in the Ateca.
I'm 6ft5 and I fit perfectly in the rear of my car with the driving seat in my normal position so unless your some sort of experiment gone wrong I call false on this
@@davideyers3116 I’m 6ft1 and my head was pressed against the ceiling in the model with VarioFlex rear seats and panoramic roof. If a model without VarioFlex or Pano roof it was fine. Call all you want, my bruised head wasn’t imaginary.
You would only buy the version with the removable seats if that’s what you were looking for. It’s a very practical feature for the target buyer. Most people who buy this car will likely have young families where head room is no issue.
Does the Ateca had removeble seats? The Karoq with the non removeble seats offers enough space. My son in law is 6ft.4 and has no problem what so ever in my car.
I'm on my second Superb SE L. But I'm afraid the price of them now is prohibitive for me, as is the Kodiaq. How ever, it's junior stable mate looks like a sure winner for me. I will be going for the 1.5 petrol DSG. It is so fast and smooth, especially in sport mode, even in big car like the Superb estate, you will not need the 2 litre version.
The fuel economy surprised me, in a bad way for a 1.5 TSI engine. I'm getting a long term average 36mpg from my 2L petrol mk3 Octavia vRS and that has 230 ps so it must be the relatively poor aerodynamics SUVs have I guess compared to normal hatchback or saloons?
Every one of these boring SUVs get crap fuel economy. They're too awkward shaped for aerodynamics, so they catch far more wind as you know. I can't understand the love affair people have with these things
@@Edvard.Munchkin The old like them because they're easy to get in and out of, some like the raised seating position that gives them a better view and others feel "safer" in them. Not for me though
@@Bazza47 Not for me either. I'd go so far as to say you would be less safe in one of these as they would be easier to overturn. I miss the good old fashioned saloon cars
I have an SUV, a Qashqai 1.5dci, get a measured 55-65 mpg depending on local drives or long trips (fuel computer tends to estimate 60-70mp). Need to replace it now as it's on a lease, and the Karoq is the only one we can get which covers all out needs, but mpg is pretty dire ! Still cannot decide.
I test drove the karoq and noticed the central right air vent is very annoyingly almost directly behind top left edge of steering wheel can some owners comment on this please, cheers.
Think I'd go for an Octavia estate, bigger boot, more economical and the infotainment system appears to be a generation newer than the Karoq you've shown here. The only thing the Karoq has got over the Octaiva, in my opinion, is the fancy rear seat setup.
Sadly today's estate cars are too long for a lot of garages... Am SUV fits best, which is a bit of a shame because it is less efficient due to its height.
@@Simple_Slmon that's true but doesn't negate my comment. We have a 4.8 metre long garage, the Yeti fits easy, the Karoq fits just so but that's the limit...
Skoda U.K. will shortly remove these from the British market I read. So if you want one you’ll have to be quick or get an Ateca or Tiguan. I have one as a holiday home runabout and it’s plain but very good. The 1.5 petrol is punchy and people always ask what engine is in it? The auto box is smooth and the digital display is very futuristic. Loads of spec for the price.
Well done Skoda for not doing an electric or hybrid. Silly things. The Karoq is a decent if not spectacular car but won’t let you down. Over the long term, functionality and practicality win the race.
I am not convinced about electric cars, as they are very expensive for less flexibility I now drive a E class coupe (2013 model) which is fantastic to look at but difficult to get in and out of I am reluctant to buy a SUV however am seriously considering a Karoc
Yet another 'bland' looking suv vehicle that people these days want...no disrespect to skoda as it's a decent interior but where is the style 🤔 a lovely sleek estate car is so much nicer on the eye...great review as always Rebecca 👌
I think, here in the states, we get this as a Taos CUV. Underwhelming at best, built to a price-point but not much more. I do like it, but would never buy one. The VW group treats most of their products like a marketing/demographic science of weights and measures. It might work on paper (and it typically does) but does it incite the wow-factor or illicit more passion for the brands? Maybe, at some level, maybe, but not for me. But attention and the fun-factor leans more towards the new I.D. Buzz since design and mechanical prowess does matter. With that said, I would rather buy a used Golf TDI estate over most of their current offerings.
Ur crazy I had and still have a karoq but I defo will not be owning another one I have the 1.5 technology version its the worse car I ever owned slow as hell gears way to close together and the infortainment is messed up and constant warning lights even after having it updated
What a depressing car. I'm sure it's a perfectly decent car, but it looks awful and the interior reminds me of a Golf from 20 years ago. Grey, grey, grey, with more grey plastic.

On top of that I bet it’s more reliable.
