Skoda's best selling SUV is this one, the Karoq, a mid-sized Qashqai-class Crossover originally introduced back in 2017 which went on to become the brand's second best selling model, generating more than half a million sales in sixty countries. But time moves on and the segment this car competes in gets ever-more competitive, hence the need in mid-2022 for the updated model we're going to look at here.
At its original introduction, this Skoda was basically a successor to the brand's popular Yeti line of compact SUVs, but the Czech maker re-named it to designate the fact that this was a slightly larger and considerably more versatile product. It sits just above the little Kamiq and just below the seven-seat Kodiaq in a line-up of Skoda SUVs that now accounts for 50% of the marque's total sales. If you're wondering, by the way, if the word 'Karoq' has any meaning, then we'll tell you that it's taken from the language of an Alaskan tribe and, roughly translated, means 'car arrow'. Make of that what you will.

As for the video - I'm researching mid-large SUVs on Motability Scheme, and nearly didn't consider this - I'm glad I saw your review, however I just don't think this is anywhere near the Tiguan, Kuga ST x or [my current fav] the KIA Sportage GT Line.
Anyone care to differ / or to offer any other advice on my choices so far?

Sat inside a KiA Sportage 2023 the clocks look like a sign board not nice rather have the Scoda Karoq.
"no stupidness pretending to be a comedy side act" It also shouldn't be boring either but fun, informative and engaging. It's a car review not a mortgage appointment.
Look at the clutch used in the models that you consider. For example Kia Sportage uses a DCT while Karoq uses DSG...

Just purchased the SEL 1.5TSI auto and already getting 45+mpg steadily at motorway speeds. Only issue I have is the road noise, which seems to be down to the noisey bridgestone tyres that have been fitted. To be fair that is the only issue I have with the vehicle. Don't forget to activate the particulate filter in the aircon system. It is a godsend as it stops the car gathering dust and even cuts down some of the more unpleasant road smells that other vehicles produce.

Hi, did you consider buying Octavia? Me and my gf are in predicament of choosing between the two.
Both of us like higher driving position in Karoq, we like the looks etc but on the other hand Octavia has a bigger trunk, is more aero efficient, a bit more modern when it comes to interior design. We can't decide!
@@5950ziel I did, but being disabled I found it much better to get and out of the Karoq. In addition, the ability to completely remove the rear seats on the SE L model, (which I have), is a massive bonus when travelling to IKEA.
I'm in same boat, I speced a half decent octavia & karoq, the karoq came in a good bit cheaper. I've noticed the right hand vent on the centre is annoyingly right behind the steering wheel, well its close enough to be very annoying anyway.
12:02 - The sun glasses storage was never available with the glass roof, also in the first models. Only without the the glas roof, you'll get it

I love the Karoq over than the VW Tiguan The Seats in the Karoq are very comfortable the Tiguan are more harder .Skoda have come a long way .I plan to buy the Skoda SEL spec 1.5 tsi petrol engiine and a big plus Heated front seats to the front only. and to have a spare wheel to at cost..Thankyou OSV for a indepth review on the Beautiful Karoq.We hired a Octavia in Bristol we did not want to take it back

It’s notable how many ‘standard’ features in earlier models have now been moved to optional purchases. In particular the Edition trim version which featured many extras as standard has gone all together from the range. The SE L can be spec’d up with leather seats and other additions to match the Edition trim. I have a 2019 Edition Karoq which is well spec’d . I used the Skoda configuration to add these to the current SE L and arrived at a package price of over £46k -Ouch! -Manufacturers are using smoke and mirror tactics to cover the rapidly increasing price of cars to deliver far less well featured vehicles.

I have been aware of the chip shortage and that it has played a part in vehicle availability. -A friend of mine who ordered a Land Rover was hit badly with delays of over a year at the peak. It’s interesting to see how manufacturers have responded to this, with model revisions, ‘face lifts’ and options pricing to prevent brand devaluation. It’s a supply chain management change that has manifested in design revisions and subtle adjustments to consumer expectations. This clever ‘less is more’ approach has heaped a whole load of costs onto the consumer who fancies a few extras.

The cylinder deactivation to increase fuel economy is a gimmick. It’s so hard to achieve. Purchased new the 1.5 petrol automatic late last year (2023)The conditions to achieve cylinder deactivation are so hard to maintain. Normal driving barely ever cause deactivation to operate. Even on motorway just the touch of the accelerator causes it to cease. Average 32 mpg on mostly dual carriageway driving. My much older 2 litre petrol golf (2002) was more economical per mile. It’s a little bit of a bigger car than my previous but the mpg is far worse than I would have imagined. Not economical price per mile…
Silly question but how do you fit your fake plates to the real plates?
A red sportsline Karoq, that is about how sporty it will get 😂 Practical car though, great for pulling a caravan.

Very boring car in the segment now in comparison to the Kia Sportage. The interior and exterior design language just seems so dated and is massively overdue. When you think 2017 as the first version. It’s changed very little. That’s too long before a proper refresh.

You need Winter Pack Plus to get a heater windscreen (and heater outer rear seats)
Best car of the segment. If you configure it wisely it is a very versatile car.

I reckon this guy is only 5ft tall, he makes the car look very big indeed...when it is not!
At 6.2 I find it big enough , great car .
My son in law with his 6.3ft length fits perfectly in the rear, so it is not that small.
You said 'super' too many times in the first few seconds so I switched off.
