Our daffodils are starting to come up and the weather is getting a bit warmer - it makes me feel spring is really coming. I love The Invention of Hugo Cabret - so good and I learned some things too.
The daffodils at my son's school are coming up but nothing yet in my garden. Last year it wasn't until early April that I noticed them but this year we are having an early spring so hopefully soon. I planted a ton last autumn so I am super excited! Oh my yes...Hugo is really, really great! 🍀💚

I just finished reading Aesops Fables! I love the Ward edition! Chris Dunn’s Wind in the Willows is my favorite edition.♥️ Secret Garden is definitely a boy AND girl story! My son loved it just as much as my girls🤗 I have that edition of VR in hardcover. It was a gift to myself for Christmas a few years ago. Holling Clancy Holling books never became endeared- we always liked the story, but the style of writing didn’t capture us. The mindset of domesticating wild animals makes me sad & angry, but in the case of saving them from death or bullying it’s more palatable. It would make me more sad to not help in those cases. “Trumpet” has always been my favorite White novel. 🥰
I recently discovered you through one of your comments on Miranda Mills' channel. I'm really enjoying your videos, I love old book illustrations and have a big collection too. I didn't like Mary Poppins either, maybe I'll give it another read as you suggested.

On the Mary Poppins...no guarantee but the second time I read it, it struck me in a different way that I cant even explain...like its magic was hidden from me the first time around. If you do read it, let me know as I would love to know if anyone else has this experience. A fellow illustrated book collector! Who are your favorite illustrators?
