The thing I like about your videos, and those of other Loopers, is that I get to see the scenic beauty of the area, without having to put up with the heat, humidity, and Bugs.
Hahaha bugs are a reality for sure! But surprisingly we didn't have as many as I have seen in other yt videos on the loop! I think it helped that we kept moving ahead of the heat🛥 👌
Our boat comes out of the water next week to go into winter storage, and of course there’s already a looooong list of ‘boat projects’ to do over the next several months … but after watching this episode I’m now starting up a ‘spring commissioning’ list, and the first thing on it is to get a courtesy inspection by the USCG Auxiliary! Meant to do it all summer and just never got around to it, so next spring for sure. Thanks for the reminder, and I’m glad you passed yours with flying colors!
I was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years and did many inspections. These are for boaters' protection and to make sure they have all the safety equipment they might need in a emergency.
If you get a vessel exam by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and you pass they will put a sticker on your window which is the same as the sheet the Coast Guard gave you. When they are picking boats to stop, they may pass you by since they can see you have passed a safety inspection. If they are really looking for something else, they will still stop you for a safety inspection.
They stop me all the time and have never gotten a sticker. was almost every time i took the boat out too. Haven't been borded since covid though. That's when they finally stopped lol
@@travcon8 The gold side doesn't give out stickers anymore. Only the Auxiliary (silver side) and I think the US Power Squadron gives out the stickers. You can look up a unit near you and arrange an inspection.
Actually i got stopped like a year ago by a police boat and the guy was like nevermind bro, i can see you know how to drive. I was pulling up to the fuel dock and i was like let me dock first. Once he saw me dock he didn't even bother to board lol @karlstreed3698

I feel safer knowing the military is protecting our coasts by insuring US recreational boaters have proper signage inside our boats.
