    I just sold a Strandberg and placed an order for a Serus J 24.75 scale with the chunky neck. I've tried a few Eastman's and liked them, but I purchased a handmade Tele with very resonant woods and it has blown all my other guitars out of the water. Everyone says how resident the Novo's are, so I have high hopes the Serus J will be my number one P90 at the least, and hopefully my number one full stop. Thanks for the content. Sub+1.

      @demosfromthecrypt2403 merry Christmas to you also! Yes it's the stock Fralin P90's. I normally don't mind a bit of hum if the playing sound is good, but I can swap them out if the noise is too bad. I have Lollar dog ear P90's in one of my Eastman's and the noise doesn't worry me at all. I think I have a six month wait, but I waited for the hand made tele and it was completely worth it. Better to have a couple of outstanding instruments than a dozen okay ones in my opinion. I'll send through an update when I've had a chance to play it!

    YES! I'm in the same rabbit hole! haha! I took a chance in ordering a custom Serus J after watching Rhett Shull and RJ Ronquillo videos. But before receiving it, I bought a 2nd hand Solus M1 and it became my #1 guitar...and sold my dream guitar - Gibson LP Standard Gold Top to finance it. I've owned 6 Novos, currently have the J, and 2 Idris - one has the Lollar dB humbuckers and waiting for a custom Miris P2 in February. But I think I'm stopping there...geez, I hope so! My Serus J is the best guitar I've ever owned so I think that will keep me grounded. I've owned dozens of other guitars from the major brands. But the Novo product line is none like no other. If money wasn't an issue, I'd own every model...seriously, I love these guitars that much! They just fit me...my playing style and my pure love for guitars! Awesome video!

    My 1959 Fender Jazzmaster was my player for 32 years--until I got a Novo Serus J, then a Serus S.
    Sadly, the '59 is now sitting in the case. And my buddies know me as a used guitar buyer--I have yet to buy a new electric guitar in 40 years. That’s changing soon. I am getting a Novo Miris J with Lollar Custom Gold Foil pickups--I ordered it over a year ago. I'm waiting for a note from Devon at Novo Guitars that my guitar will soon be on the way. Just prepare to wait for a year for a new Novo...so well worth the wait!

    It’s such a great point about where the guitar takes you. The same thing happens when I play Fenders and Gibsons. I play what is expected. The issue is when products are linked to people. Strats, LPs… they sort of suggest/dictate what can or cannot be played on them. Something like a Novo has no such links and so it becomes what you want it to be because it can cope with it.

    What's crazy to me is the price, $3 - $6k...at the end of the day it's a slab of wood with some bits and bobs. Granted a major difference is how the wood and the parts are built and assembled. Funny how a number of famous musicians used relatively cheap equipment to come up with iconic parts, yet we need to apparently take out a second mortgage to own a playable instrument.

    • @demosfromthecrypt2403
      @demosfromthecrypt2403  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I get what you say Sir...Having owned and still own cheaper Fender guitars, I know they are decent and do a job. I wouldn't touch a Fender Custom Shop. It's still a Strat or a Tele. I can get one that looks the same for £400 secondhand. The Novo is fresh and interesting for me. They feel unbelievable. The thing rings acoustically and, more importantly, stays in tune when bashed about live. I don't get the same stability with the big brands. I think there's something more personaly having something crafted from a small amount of people also. The other thing is I regularly talk to the guy who built my guitars, I feel a connection. You couldn't do that at Fender unless it's a super super master build or your Brad Pitt ha!

      @seal-nowweretalking6753 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      With great respect, a guitar or any other instrument for that matter it not just a “slab of wood with bits and bobs on it”. An instrument, (particularly the one in question) is something that someone has invested time, sweat and tears into. If we can agree that everything in our existence can be summed up as energy, then an instrument is the result of that persons energy as it has passed through them. In other words what you are experiencing when you pick up an instrument made by them is a part of their soul.
      I make records for a living, I have done so for the past 35 years. When I look back on my career and listen to the records I made whether it be hearing one on the radio or coming out of someone’s car, I don’t hear a bunch of pretty notes cleverly slapped together, I hear the souls of all the beautiful people that were instrumental in making that record happen. Everyone from the woman who worked in the studio kitchen, preparing food for us each day, to the great musicians that poured their life’s work into become masters of their craft to play on my records.
      So when you pick up an instrument such as a Novo guitar, the reason it inspires you in perhaps ways that others might not is because the sum of energy that has been put into it is different from let’s say another guitar that has been mass produced on an assembly line. In other words an instrument such as this isn’t simply a guitar, it is art.
      I hope that makes a little more sense.

      A start-to-finish, unique, hand-built guitar built by a small shop in the US that is essentially an heirloom piece, impeccable workmanship, materials, quality, and attention to detail which, even with the high end tuners, specialty bridge, boutique pickups, and vibrato retails for $1000 less than a custom shop Telecaster? They're a bargain.

    I live in Nashville. I want a Novo so bad. Just seeing those gorgeous big ass offset bodies... yummy.
    I want a Bilt as well. They got those wild pickup configs...
    I have a thing about this new strat that I have. It has this really specific pickup configuration and I can't get this sound on any other guitar. It's ruined me. Lol.
    You got the GAS my friend. Novo GAS.

    Play clean, that screechy tone doesn't do the guitar justice. Don't listen to me, you're a much better player than I am. Love my Serus T. But doesn't take away from the awesomeness of my Whitfil Telecaster, Wildwood 10 strat, Bob Coleman Tele, 2007 R8 Les Paul, 250 dollar 1993 Epiphone Les Paul jr. bolt-on neck with one P90 that sounds as good as the others. Is the Novo better? Yes, but not when my mood goes thither. Gonna predict you will be buying back into the classics. Remember this post when you do. GAS never ends.

    Ok some of them Novo look amazing ... i own a Rivolta which is the cheaper line by Mr Fano ... now Novo cost a lot of money and i suppose like Prs core or wood library are crafted with time ...dedication... attention to detail etc etc... my point is ... any bespoke luthier instrument will probably start @ 3/4 k so that's the benchmark ... i own a mexican jazzmaster Troy Van Leeuween and that was 1200 pounds second hand ... that's my n1 ... them Novo really appeal to me because they look vintage ... i'm a sucker for p90 so if i'd have 4/5 k i'd probably drive to Peach guitars n try a few ... the point is being happy with your gear and be satisfied... ultimately it's in our fingers .... but i accept certain instruments make u play in different ways .. yes i have gas but i must play everything i own otherwise i'm a moron ahaha...
    U can be inspired with a 500 pounds guitar as long as u feel the call ...
    It's not the price point although more quality won't necessarily hurt ..
    it won't make u a better musician to have a wood library though...
    I suppose if u want to pay 4/5 k for a guitar it's fine but it won't be 4/5 times better than a 1k instrument ...

      I've had a rivolta also, really good bang for the buck there! It's not the cash for me at all, it's something about the vibe and the feel! I look at them in awe constantly. I agree with you tho, you can find some amazing guitar for 1000 bucks or less. For me tho, a jazzmaster lover. These hit me in the gut, and now I'm complete.

      Wait till you see or play the new Rivolta’s (can’t say anymore than that other than I’m unaffiliated w/Eastwood/Rivolta and just a customer). I own a prototype of one of them and the difference in feel and versatility from those that came before is night and day (I’ve owned three Rivolta’s). Pickup configuration is straight out of the Novo playbook and the finish on the neck is a radical departure. It plays like a broken in vintage guitar. I’ve been through over 130 instruments in my life, most built prior to 1965, as well as custom-builds on the level of Novo (which I love). But Dennis Fano is about to deliver a shockingly good instrument for an insanely affordable price and it’s going to turn alot of heads.
