I love his demeanor, such an open passionate approach to design and artistry. He is a wizard and his instruments are tools of creative empowerment. HeDennis made me a weapon of inspiration. My candy apple green reverse head stock Voltur is a member of my family now hahaha Thanks Dennis! Ps: It's great seeing that Psonicsphere over your head!
Dennis' take on aging is exactly why i love my Novos - i can just use them without having to worry about banging it on something, accidentally leaving it in the car, etc... plus the feel is just unbelievable
I just bought a Miris J that has not arrived yet - I am watching as much as I can about Novo - so many positive vibes - I know I made the right decision.
Dang, pleasantly surprised to see this interview pop up! To watch DF talk about his beginnings and then how Novo started is what I hope is just the start to many new designs and future of guitars 💚! And yes, a proud owner of a SOLUS H2 machine that 5-ING ROCKS🤘🏼
Cool XTC English Settlement logo by his work bench! That's a fantastic album. I've been looking at videos for Novo guitars, they sound incredible and look really cool.
I only started learning how to play the guitar about five weeks ago & I'm documenting my entire journey on here so watching this was super motivational.
I like the wood texture. I am analyzing to buy on, to order one like the one on his chest. It is possible to buy one without scratches, without worn areas. ?
Great to have this interview with this usually rather shy luthier. Have followed Dennis’s work since I read an interview in UK’s The Guitar Magazine with Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding of XTC, describing being given/ gifted completely off-the-wall custom guitars personally by Dennis. Loved those shapes, and loved pretty much every design he’s released ever since.
I've had 2 Serus Js, both with p90s, and they're brilliant. I'm a single coil guy but man I do not hate the sound of those rail humbuckers in this video. Not bad at all.
My Novo Miris J guitar will be on the way soon! For any potential buyers, just know that these are the best guitars you'll ever put your hands on.....that is certain. Mine is a custom version I haven't seen produced yet. Well over a year later, it takes patience, but this guitar is going to be played a lot! I can't wait!!!
Interesting story and nice designs with that traditional look but still different. I never got into the CNC manufacturing but had considered it before I retired. However, my thing was "handmade" and I wanted to stick with that to the end as much as possible. That and not growing the business beyond my control. Good luck--you're definitely doing a lot of things correctly--keep at it!
what is that piece of music the guy is playing around 10.40 or is he jus improvising?? beautiful... i have my novo arriving in 3 months!!! sooooo excited.
As a Novo owner, I’d totally encourage you to shoot for one. They are, in my opinion, superbly made instruments with tons of character that really beg to be played. I never bonded as quickly or as deeply with a guitar as I did with my first Novo.
@@marquee-moonAgreed. I stupidly sold mine because the fretwork was so flawless and I played it so much that they started to wear pretty quickly and the thought of having someone refret it kept me up at night. I waited for one with stainless frets, finally found one and grabbed it. Guitar was superb but I didn't like the frets - too much "zing", not enough warmth. Sold it and ordered one almost identical to my first one and it's on its way to me from NC as we speak. I'm pretty stoked.
I don’t have the dough, but I love the look and sounds of these guitars! Would love the opportunity to play one, one day? I think they’re all beautiful.
At a certain price point, a high degree of playability is a must, and at the level of Novo, and other brands similarly priced, that high level is generally met. This means that the aesthetic has to be the real selling point. I think Dennis' guitars look great. I wouldn't want one for myself, but I can appreciate the designs. I make my own guitars now, they way I want them, but I saw a few things in this video I hadn't considered.
These are amazing guitars. It's really a shame about the price. I'm not even saying they aren't worth the money, but it's unlikely I'll ever be able to own one, unfortunately.
Ok. Obviously cool guitars. But let me get this straight. 4k plus for guitars done on a CNC, plek with parts and pickups made by others. We are paying for what? His design. Nothing wrong with that but let’s be clear…. Another guitar for those who have disposable cash and not for those of the everyday.
Bahahahaha as a person with many vegans and myself have tried it, this is VERY ACCURATE 😂. We live in a “pick your poison” world. So let’s pick our poison, am I right?
Dennis is the coolest! This is a great video.
Really great interview! Tasty playing too 👍🏻
Oh hey @AndyDemos, thanks!

💯😍🥰
Novo on Reverb us a huge deal to a lot of us!!! So glad to see this happen!
I’ve owned several Novos and they’re all amazing. My current J is my #1 for sure. DF and his team are the best.
Dennis' take on aging is exactly why i love my Novos - i can just use them without having to worry about banging it on something, accidentally leaving it in the car, etc... plus the feel is just unbelievable
Why would this change being able to leave it in the car?
@@joeyp1028the tempered neck and body make the wood much more stable to changes in temperature and humidity
Love seeing Evan in videos! I historically have always associated him with a tele, but that Novo fits him perfectly.
Classy guy, beautiful guitars. I discovered Dennis many years ago on the old "offset guitars" forum. It's great to see his success growing.
I've been using a Novo guitar since Dennis developed it, I don't think I'll ever hold a better guitar in my hand…👍💯🥇
I just bought a Miris J that has not arrived yet - I am watching as much as I can about Novo - so many positive vibes - I know I made the right decision.

I was not expecting Evan on this video. It was a pleasant surprise ❤
Great interview-really enjoyed the journey!
ive recently purchased a miris J....just WOW. incredible quality and attention to detail. "you get what you pay for"
Gotta love Dennis and his guitar designs. Unique and great sounding instruments.
I really resonated with this particular Luthier. I very much want to have Dennis make me a guitar.
Cool XTC English Settlement logo by his work bench! That's a fantastic album. I've been looking at videos for Novo guitars, they sound incredible and look really cool.
As I recall, Dennis built and gave a guitar (or two) to Andy Partridge. This possibly may have been used on the Apple Venus/Wasp Star sessions.
I only started learning how to play the guitar about five weeks ago & I'm documenting my entire journey on here so watching this was super motivational.
Why was he gauging the strings? 😅 it says it on the packaging

I’ve got one coming this Friday! Very excited!
Gorgeous guitars, no doubt about it! I need a pay raise!
In comes Evan sneaking in some Into It. Over it. tunes. Big love
Love my Novo Serus P2! It’s a great guitar, super reliable, and always a joy to play! Oh and it’s in Mermaid Sparkle!
Dream guitar!!! Keep up the great work!
Amazing story. Hope to own one of these beautiful guitars
Love the XTC English Settlement pieces in the shop! and of course Evan/IIOI!

Awesome guitars...the neck on my custom Serus is incredible...none of my other high end guitars comes close
This was wonderful. Thanks for doing this!

Inspiration for my own guitar building aspirations - not in volume, but quality.
Build the hollow, it’s not on your site.🙂. That one is fascinating, bolt on or set neck?
it was a signature a few weeks back on their website. $6500
anyone knows who the guitar players are in the demos?

what pickups in that first clip? at 4:20
Lollar DB humbuckers 👍 Had one installed in my Jazzmaster 3 years ago, can't recommend it enough. Super crisp and controlled even with fuzz.

It was great to see a Novo guitar played in a stadium by Martin Gore from Depeche Mode. I would love to own a Novo one day
Shame it was so shrouded in fuzz, could have been pretty much any guitar.
I saw one played at a recent death cab show. They are super cool looking, would love to check one out someday

Good for Novo and Reverb. Love my Serus J
0:28 and I was sold already.
XTC over workbench. 😊
I have a Novo Miris J and it’s my favorite guitar
Ok. I want them all!✌️❤️
The offset one's are definitely cool looking
I have a Dennis Fano built Fano guitar that is my favorite. May have to grab a Novo at some point.
I wanna be friends with this guy. Lovely fella. Nice guitars.
That’s a great looking guitar
If you haven’t played a novo go and hunt one down asap they are rad 😎!
Bring back the lefties!
I don’t have the dough, but I love the look and sounds of these guitars! Would love the opportunity to play one, one day?
I think they’re all beautiful.
I like the H2
good dude.
These look cooooo
People are flipping these like homes
Why did Fano leave….Fano? 🤷♂️
Novos are really cool. Are they $4-5k cool? IMO no I’ve always been a little underwhelmed when playing one but the designs are really cool!

I prefer "light" or "ultra light" relics to get the first dings out of the way
Fun fact > NOVO in serbian language means NEW ;-)
Same in Portuguese.
thank you for saying "distressed" and not "relic".
MORE EVAN WEISS IN THE WORLD
Wow Jack Black makes some good guitars! 😂
gold hands ! well done ;) play guitars ... don't collect them ... except for Joe B. , you know ;)
I'm still waiting for a 24 fret Novo. I thought he would take that element from Rivolta eventually.
Novo: Best headstock in the game
They even got Pablo Escobar test playing their guitars!
Even if it's perfect, play it. The extension is if it's too much money, people won't want to play it. Just play it.
Dude's guitars are the only ones that "look" like they'd "feel" and "sound" like they'd fit me perfectly. I can see myself with some of his guitars.
These are amazing guitars. It's really a shame about the price. I'm not even saying they aren't worth the money, but it's unlikely I'll ever be able to own one, unfortunately.
It’s all doesn’t matter, to make a good guitar is east, good looks and light guitar and stay in tune and all that matter is a PRICE.
You're correct. Having the right tools and equipment makes all the difference. Also patience.
Do you build your own guitars?

Design, fit, and finish. Read the reviews.
@@kristopherk5454 well that covers about every review of every guitar out there. So, in a word…no.
You said we’re paying for his design. I just corrected you by saying we’re paying for design, fit, and finish. It’s not only design…in a word, no.
No. Donkey.
Good performance.

In 10 years, when NOVO gets too big, maybe Dennis will sell NOVO and start Fanovo...?
Relic guitar haters are like vegans, there are only a few of them, but they like to make a lot of noise
Bahahahaha as a person with many vegans and myself have tried it, this is VERY ACCURATE 😂. We live in a “pick your poison” world. So let’s pick our poison, am I right?
This is just me, but I hate gold hardware. Nickel or nothing. Chrome should be outlawed…
Man, I'm exactly the same way. It just looks gaudy or cheesy on most guitars.
gold hardware on a black les paul? on a white gretsch? cmon dude those are classic looks
@@methyod those are really the only exceptions. But most other tines it's meh.
Good Lord!!!! I've been craving a Novo for 4 years now...... time is now....
I follow no one. I desire to sound like no one.
Good luck with that lol
