A song about the Teutonic Knights, sung by the Schlesische Jugend (Silesian Youth), Originaltitel: "Der Grenzlandwimpel", melody and lyrics by Willi Nufer, 1931.
The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem (official names: Latin: Ordo domus Sanctæ Mariæ Theutonicorum Hierosolymitanorum, German: Orden der Brüder vom Deutschen Haus der Heiligen Maria in Jerusalem), commonly the Teutonic Order (Deutscher Orden, Deutschherrenorden or Deutschritterorden), is a Catholic religious order founded as a military order c. 1192 in Acre, Kingdom of Jerusalem.
The Teutonic Order was formed to aid Christians on their pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to establish hospitals. Its members have commonly been known as the Teutonic Knights, having a small voluntary and mercenary military membership, serving as a crusading military order for protection of Christians in the Holy Land and the Baltics during the Middle Ages.
Purely religious since 1929, the Teutonic Order still confers limited honorary knighthoods. The Bailiwick of Utrecht of the Teutonic Order, a Protestant chivalric order, is descended from the same medieval military order and also continues to award knighthoods and perform charitable work.

Ein bisschen verwirrend der Satz mit dem Balkenkreuz. Nach meinem Wissensstand tauchte das "Balkenkreuz" erstmals in den letzten zwei Jahren des 1.Weltkrieges auf deutschen Flugzeugen auf. Wahrscheinlich, um eine Verwechslung mit österreichischen Flugzeugen auszuschließen. Und war natürlich später bei der Wehrmacht in Gebrauch. Der Orden St. Maria im Spital zu Jerusalem kannte noch kein Balkenkreuz.
Das Balkenkreuz wurde 1916 eingeführt, das Lied ist aus dem Jahr 1921. Wahrscheinlich hat der Dichter das schwarze Kreuz des Deutschen Ordens mit dem Balkenkreuz verwechselt.
@@MrCmon113 Das ist so nicht ganz richtig. Es gibt ja verschiedene Arten von Kreuzen zb. das Tatzenkreuz,das Georgskreuz und eben das Balkenkreuz. Kreuze die an ihren enden keine Formveränderung haben sind so gesehen alles Balkenkreuze,sprich wenn es zwei gerade "Balken" sind,die in Kreuzesform übereinander gelegt werden,ist es ein Balkenkreuz. Somit ist der Text korrekt. Ins Bewusstsein ist das Balkenkreuz mit dieser Bezeichnung erst zum 1. und 2 Weltkrieg gerutscht in Verbindung mit dem deutschen Militär. Viele Grüße.

it's so annoying that the movie industry pretty much only makes medieval movies and shows about France and England. When Germany has a very long history too and I think a movie or show about the 30 years of war for example would be very interesting. @@dr.ludwig ich habe einige wichtige Dinge herausgefunden und die Wahrheit gesagt was eigentlich los ist.....in der schule hab ich auf einmal so schlechte mündliche Noten obwohl ich mich im Unterricht immer melde.....und ich hab weiter gemacht und habe Sachen erfunden die die Automobilindustrie zu Grunde gehen lassen könnten und die Pläne wurden einkassiert und vernichtet und wie gesagt auf einmal schlechte Noten und alles, nur weil ich nicht komplett blind und blöd bin wie die meisten da ich mich gegen die Gehirnwäsche der Schule wehre (PS.ich habe LEIDER eine Hochbegabung und eben große Möglichkeiten weshalb der Staat anfängt mich aus dem Weg zu räumen) und das wurde mir bestätigt ich darf nicht mit ins Schullandheim wegen "schlechter Einflüsse" und da sag noch einmal jemand das System ist nicht korrupt...
Dann sofort die Lehrer beim Rektor oder gleich beim Schulamt melden. Ein Lehrer muss neutral sein und darf keinen Gesinnungsunterricht betreiben.

@BlackCat86 Früher wurde ein Kult von Stärke, Männlichkeit, Krieg und Patriotismus propagiert, und heute sind alle "entspannt". Ich erinnere mich an die Japaner. Seit Beginn der Bildung Japans bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs war es ein ziemlich kriegerisches Volk und jetzt schau, was japanische Männer mit ihren Mangas und Anime geworden sind :) Jetzt haben die Menschen hauptsächlich aufgehört, den Krieg als Mittel zur Lösung von Problemen zu betrachten und Pazifismus wird gefördert sowie die Lösung von Problemen durch Diplomatie.

Aus irgendeinem Grund macht mich dieses Lied unglaublich glücklich.
Man fühlt die Verbundenheit zu den Vorfahren, die sich so sehr aufgeopfert haben, damit wir besser und sicherer leben können. Es war eine Zeit in der man sich noch beweisen musste und höhere Ziele anstrebte als den oberflächlichen Konsum von heute.
