I don't think they'd understand it, or know what to listen for. Remember when they were about what they created was the pinnacle of 'hip'. They're ear just wouldn't be accustomed to playing outside of harmony, rhythmic complexity, the fact that this is a just a reimagined take on a simple jazz standard, and all of it happening at a completely mad crazy pace.
Taylor Eigsti has always completely owned the piano - all the harmonies, combined with monster technique. Drummer and bass are killer players in their own right, great support and musicianship.
Total monster players - amazing intro and great arrangement. He played some dense, at times hyper kinetic stuff `a la Rubalcaba, but more Jazz/changes oriented and ultimately his own.
Taylor's chords at 7:40 ...how in the hell do you modulate voicings like that on the fly?! With all 10 fingers?! WHAT A BEAST! I wish I could study with him!!!
The first time I heard this I wondered badly what it woudl be like to study with him. About the 4th time I heard this, I realized I'm not ready to study with him...
If you know classical music and learn jazz music well, an incredible mix emerges. On top of that, when you analyze the folk music in the world and use them in your music, then you are truly unique. Of course, for this, you start taking piano education at a young age, knowing classical music and then learning jazz music, researching it and using them in your music, creating a new style and this makes you inaccessible
Taylor has amazing touch, tone, facility and his own personality at the keys! Opening seemed Debussy-esque. (I think he covered all 88 keys multiple times in this unique Caravan)
Great trio. Bass got screwed in the mix, though; it's muddy, and that's a shame, cuz this cat plays with such focus...Oh well. Still grateful for the music, thank you!
Because he uses dark cymbals, so he still wants the definition but also the qualities of the thin cymbals like crash ability and just more beautiful tones than thick cymbals
Sometimes I wish I could see what Mozart and Bach's reactions to this music would be.
Also Ravel's, I mean his music is somewhat similar
They would probably think it is shit
no their minds would be blown@@BiggyJimbo
@@BiggyJimboyou’re shit mate 😂 try and replicate anything close to this 😂

You must not be aware of how reputable Harish Raghavan and Eric Harland are... They're sitting at the top of the chain for their instruments too.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this
The virtuosity here, is in service of the music, not the other way around. That's what makes this great.
Right on!
Agree
After watching this I walked into the kitchen with wide eyes n my mum asked me why I looked so shocked. I replied ‘I’ve discovered aliens’
How does someone get THIS INCREDIBLE
This is magic. Amazing musicians. Love the drummer, Eric Harland!
I watched this about 30 times now, it's still great
It wont change dont worry!
I made this video... thank you!
same, still watching it over and over and coming back to it all the time for inspiration
Taylor eigsti is one of the best
I would drink and eat this music if I could...
Taylor's one of the best......
reallly really nice, Yanik Jayaram sent me here

I think he has learned film scoring,he applies those techniques into his music
Eigsti's playing is _wonderful_ here. Does it remind anyone else a bit of Ahmad Jamal at his best?
TRUE, with a blend of oscar, ahmed, cedar walton and his own style in its own right. Taylor is just amazing
I thought more Gonzalo Rubalcaba, at least on that intro and on the head/theme.
PIANO IS SOOOOO DAMN CLEAN
does anyone has a clue of how do they count the 8:00 part.
stopping by again
Great music and a great piano player. It hardly gets any better than this! Inspirational!! Thank you!! 🙏🏾

Hes playing the same voicing moving up chromatically. Sounds pretty wild tho
@@Zacharysandilands You're right, it is chromatic, but very full chords. The descending modulation is pretty neat too.

I could study with him and it would be as Einstein teaching algebra to a Schnauzer...
Funny probably the only bit of the solo i could actually do. Not that hard once you know your chords.
AMAAAAAAAAZING !!
Absolutely stunning.
Awesome!!!
Beast status! Terrific
Next to Oscar Peterson, my new all-time favorite piano-guy...
Питерсон классик!
Beautiful intro! Interesting and masterful arrangement of this classic tune. Thanks for sharing this!
New Caravan!
never boring!
Wow this was incredible
Kick ass
Wow Dude! You are so wonderful to listen to. Would love to have you play with @AbracadabraTrip
Wow what a great arrangement.

“Caravan” is one of my favorites! (Thank you to Nancy E. for suggesting this 17 years ago.)
Beautiful.
Totally bloody awesome!

Yeah unfortunately he was right up against piano and I had little choice on tone in mix. Sucked.
@@blue7audio Ah, I understand. You did the best that you could, thank you!
fucking hell,.,this is really scary, these cats play SO well!! love it :)
jazz hardcore...
are you rushing or are you dragging? yes.
No doubt highly influenced by Michel Petucianni's live version of Caravan. He adds his own twist though.
what virtuosity.......
This is...I mean...what...
Kid's pretty good at the ivories though he's no John Tesh.
Up to 8 dislikes now. Wtf.
I used to think I knew how to play the piano lmao
Why does he have to use nylon sticks
Because he uses dark cymbals, so he still wants the definition but also the qualities of the thin cymbals like crash ability and just more beautiful tones than thick cymbals
Only one stick is nylon--for the cymbals. Very unusual.
I prefer Ryan Reynolds on piano
Ethan Robinson and....
What the f... you talking about?
Wow... noone gets it... And are offended. I laughed
this joke flew over so many people's heads. i chuckled xD
Yawn..........zzzzzzzzz
Didnt sound like caravan though sadly
A good tune turned into a bunch of stupid noise. Well done. That is jazz today.
