He nailed it... I'm 52... I vividly recall the 1970's to 1990's doorbell moments... friends & family stopping by to just say hello... come in stay a half hour to hour... have some soda, snacks... walk them out to their car... hugs, say good night... America was much different then...

Doorbell routine absolutely spot on. I grew up in the 50’s-60’s. German family. My mom always had baked cakes, especially on weekends. Friends visited a lot on Sunday afternoons or Saturday. Sanka could be offered or the electric percolator was put on. You were happy for company, especially if they had kids and you could play in the backyd or front if warm. No worries about being abducted!!
    Social interaction was abundant.
Fast forward to the present-- eye to eye conversation all but gone at dinner time, if you even eat together. In restaurants adults and kids on phones, texting. No wonder young people can’t string a grammatically correct sentence together. It’s all abbreviations, and smart phone code. Ahhhhh! Now texting is the oral conversation of 50’s to 70’s. Social media is changing young people’s exchanging of social discourse and manners. Internet has its positives, however, I’m glad I was brought up in an era of simplicity, cherishing family, company over, and manners! I hope somehow we can return to a little of that small town life!

True call. Hysteria. Check out data from the CDC, also easily found in the DHHS web site. In the last couple of years, that's 2019-18, 34,000 Americans died of Influenza. Flu. It's a death rate of 7% out of all Americans who got it bad enough to require hospitalization, which reached the staggering number of 500,000. Total number of Americans diagnosed with the flu last winter was, brace yourself - 16.5 million! 5% of the American people were sick enough with the flu to go see a doctor. 3% of them needed hospitalization, out of that 3 %, 7% kicked the bucket. Nobody gave a rats turd about that.
Btw, though I know overeating is not a physically contagious epidemic, do you know how many Americans died of Obesity? 300,000! 300K for duck's sake! But that's obesity. If you count ALL fat people who died due to constantly stuffing their faces with unhealthy quantities of food, you get 3,000,000!
3 million!!! 1% of the entire American population die each year from overeating.
      Corona is children play.

XmanSully, I agree with you to a certain point. They, the professionals who are experts in disease control, still do not know how it is really spreading. To be cautious is the right way to be thinking. Good hygiene is the number one practice to be implemented. Most people don’t really wash their hands. Especially in hospitals. So, even though your statistics might be right, it doesn’t change the fact that people are being infected and dying. If you survive, it might be awhile for a full recovery. To conclude my thought, media, yes I agree, they are known for pushing rumors. But, to consider this situation as a minor thought or just another contagious disease is a little on the denial side. The virus is spreading and more people are being infected everyday. I say be aware and to thank God or whatever you believe in, everyday is a blessing, to be with your loved family and friends. Today, would be a good day be thankful and laugh as much as you can.

I love this guy so much. I'm 49 years old and his whole routine is literally telling the story of my life. I think that's a combination of both the times being different when we were younger and the Italian upbringing/tradition. But he literally brings me back to my youth and makes me laugh hysterically at the same time. Priceless.

Same here. My husband gets a kick out of my stories when I tell him about our Italian upbringing or seeing an Entenmann's in the store, I have to get it, he thinks it is funny how excited I get over it. I never ate them back then, we always had one in the kitchen or if we were out and someone was otw over, my mom would send one of us to go get one. Sebastian Maniscalco portrayed this accurately. In the post WW II years, up until about 1995 or so, people "called" on friends and family members. In our Lithuanian household, the rule was steadfast and unchanging. A cup of coffee was in a guest's hands within five minutes and food offered in about 15...30, if they were close enough by blood to have something cooked for them.

Yup. Same with the Swedes. I grew up near Sebastian so most of the stuff he talks about growing up is the exact same for us. Once the 90s were over, everything changed. When I was a kid, our whole street was basically an open door policy. You could eat dinner wherever you wanted and were always welcomed. Same with friends all over when they came by.
Now? Sebastian nailed it haha. I always peak out the window quick from a spot where they can't really see me to see who it is. If I don't know them, I kneel and freeze movement for about 2 minutes.

Old days are the best days of our lives. Showing up on your friend or family's door or receiving an unnanouced visit from parents or relatives or friends was indeed one of the best things to happen to us. Sebastian opened up on the beautiful past habits that we wish to have them back.

As a child, I felt really good when friends rang my doorbell just to see if I was there.

This was my parents in the 1970’s. It was always my Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Bob. 😂 So true about the cake and coffee and it was always 9 pm and I always had to answer the door. 😄

I laughed myself silly over this. I'm 58, and grew up in Queens. This was 100% our life in the 70's and 80's, and we loved it!
Look! It's Aunt Chris and Uncle Ray!

You have to be his Dad's age in order to get it. Cake was always saved for Company and Sanka was instant decaffeinated coffee which you drank in the evenings. Company dropped in almost any time of the day or night. In today's world we don't answer the door.

My girlfriend‘s family had the best linoleum in their kitchen and family room. We could go across the whole floor with about 20 feet of sliding.

I remember being at my grandmother's house as a child when company would come over, often in the middle of the day. She would stop whatever she was doing and wait on the unexpected guests, making sure they were comfortable, getting them coffee, sugary treats (she always had plenty around that she baked herself), even setting out the ash trays if they happened to smoke. Then they would sit and chat for the longest time, and I remember her laughing. She was thrilled when company would stop by. Wish I could go back for a few of those visits, I miss them.

One of his best bits! And it’s totally true. My dad was an Episcopal Priest and in the 70’s and 80’s people just stopped by. We’d put on the coffee and my mom had cookies or Sara Lee pound cake.

I think I’ve rewatched this skit, half a dozen times! Soooo funny. My most fav ever...and so true. Sometime ago, my husband and I are watching tv, Saturday, late morning. Teeth brushed, hair still tousled, enjoying caffeine...knock on the door. We freeze, like deer in the headlights. Husband: “Who’s that?” Me: “I don’t know”. 2nd knock...We both jump up, I head toward the bathroom, he lands in the bedroom doorway. Me: “Go see who it is.” Husband: “I got it last time”. Now I’m laughing, tears rolling down my face...apparently we were outta Sanka. 😂😂😂
