I started meal planning last year, and it has really saved me money. The other thing is just to be aware of cheaper ways to get what you want. Example...yesterday I went to the store just to buy 1 red onion that I needed for a specific recipe. I always look at the reduced produce rack first, and I was able to get a bag of mixed produce for $2 Cdn. The bag contained 2 red onions, 2 apples, 1 orange and a small eggplant. All of it was in good shape. The eggplant I cooked last night and was big enough for 2 meals for me. The apples will go in my morning oatmeal for a couple of servings, I already ate the orange, and the onions are pretty fresh and won't go bad before I use them up. All for $2!

Exactly, shopping the deals and looking for that clearance rack is sooooo important!!

I literally went and got milk, creamer, coffee, butter, eggs, cheese crackers, chocolate syrup and bananas yesterday and spent $43. 🤯🤯🤯 It’s ridiculous. 💜 once I’m debt free we are going to get some chickens and get a garden started.

I meal plan dinners, and every Thursday is pizza night. I buy Aldis pepperoni pizza. 1 is enough to feed my family of 6 (usually with salad). And then we typically have a leftover night or 2 or make whatever you want night during the week. Plus, hubby and i eat leftovers for lunches. We spend $800 month, but that includes pet foods, household needs like toilet paper, etc.

I just reversed shopped right after watching this this morning. 11 dinners and only spending $105, including the basics like milk, eggs, and bread. Thanks so much for the awesome tips! I'll put it on the fridge so when I ask what everyone wants for dinner, I won't have to make a bowl of "I don't know" for atleast the rest of the month.

I started reverse meal planning in the early 1990s. I saved 30%, then 40%, then eventually 70-75% 💰 off my original shopping method. If someone is looking for a way to cut costs drastically/dramatically, I believe it’s the best way. Other ideas fit with the method to further reduce costs. During different seasons of my life, I kept a 1 month to 12 month pantry/freezer. Every time I hit a plateau, I could try to add another small idea to either lower my cost of groceries, energy or even add fun. Eventually, I added a fun night (make your own homemade pizzas or tacos) and an expensive dinner night like peel and eat shrimp 🍤, high cost steak 🥩, and even a dinner out.
I hope your viewers will embrace this method of planning 📒 and shopping 🛒.

I have learned to shop at 6 stores...I look at what we all we have..then I have a meal plan for what we are having each night. I buy a month full of meat, frozen veggies, anything frozen we buy in a full month. I write up the list...then do price planning...which stores are cheaper to get certain items and which ones are having sales. I try not over buy or frivolous buy unless I can think of a quick dish with what I already have.....Oh and try Turkey and Mushroom over rice or potatoes...my kids love that one also besides the chicken one.

I’m the same way when planning meals I don’t really like planning my meals by days of the week. I’ll write out the meals I like and just make them according to my mood 😅 planning my meals by day felt too strict, so I’m more casual with how I cook and I don’t cook every single day either because I would have too much leftovers and my fridge is small, so I make a meal, eat the leftovers the next day and then the following day I’ll make something new. Aldi’s is my go to for groceries. I feel like my money stretches further there.

A great way i budget is use the walmart app as my grocery list. It shows you the total in the cart. I delete items as i pick them up in the store. Also Aldi beats walmart 9/10. I save about $20+ per week going to aldi first and then walmart after. That's over $1,000 a year just by changing where i do my shopping.

In my area, expensive suburbs of Washington DC, having a home daycare of 8 toddler 2-5yr would do it. $300 week per child X 8 children = $2,400 week X 50 weeks = $120,000 a year. Take that and divide by 12 ($120,000/12=) $10,000 a month. Add in a part time working spouse making $1,000 a month a there you go. Keep the business to your walk-out basement with windows and your home is still your castle. Some childcare businesses even offer additional services or products to increase their income.
