- The Netherlands came from behind to break Brazilian hearts and take a huge step towards a third FIFA World Cup™ final appearance. Trailing at half-time to Robinho's early goal in Port Elizabeth, Bert van Marwijk's men drew level before Wesley Sneijder scored his second of the game with 22 minutes remaining.
Brazil ended the game a man short after Felipe Melo's dismissal as Brazil saw their dream of a sixth world crown dismantled at the quarter-final stage.

after 1970 Brazil gone 24 years without winning the World Cup (and they even cant win in COpa America during those period), Brazil players and Media assume because they are Brazil and didnt want to change, and arrogant set in , and was not until Carlos Alberto Parreira in 1994 adopted most defensive and disciplines at the back that won the world cup that year, but i still remember some Brazil ex players, pundits and media say that was the weakest world cup they been in, i was like WTF, they won the world cup, give them credit, same happen in the last 2 world cup, the Brazilian FA keep given the job to ex manager pass their prime (sometimes no idea what they doing esp Dunga) and not willing to change, and they relutantly given the job to Tite after exit the group stage in copa 2016, look what he did after that, that why i think Brazil have better chance winning this years

Before the match Sneijder was asked about the Brazillian goalkeeper since they had been teammates at Inter I believe.
Sneijder said that the goalie's weakness was high balls into the penalty box, so he made sure he got few in there :)

How Brasil lost this match is a mystery: the Dutch were totally outplayed in the first half. Van Marwijk was miraculous in the changing set-up, during halftime, as this wasnt a vintage Dutch squad.
Since '74 when these meet, it usually is a classic. Personally i favor the '74 match, with the '98 a close second.
Nearly smoked a pack of cigarettes during the second half. One of the most exciting matches Holland has ever played during the history of the World Cup.

No team on the planet is as bloody-minded as the Dutch, when the stakes are down and there is everything to play for especially against a stronger and more fancied team. When the second goal went in, I cannot forget how pumped up I felt and happy and relieved that I almost cried. I am Indian living in the Netherlands. I watched that match far away from everyone else so I could concentrate on the match and not get caught up in all kinds of conversations about beer and chips and other shit. :)

Gog Mclaine We didn't manage to reach the torunament because our national football organisation exists of fools. They chose the wrong trainer twice, while there were much better alternatives(Koeman form Southampton for example). Besides that they wanted to use the classic dutch footbal tactics. Louis van Gaal didn't use those in 2014. These tactics are completely outdated when facing other countries. Guess we're going to support our Belgium neighbors this year.

And we where short on it for year's and Also in a Qualifying Poule with France and Sweden, normally we should had have Sweden but we lost on amount of Goals... But now with or new base, Oranje begins to have form again

Probably the most famous goal ever scored in a World Cup. Yeah, that one. He must have been hit, pulled, assaulted by 5 opposing players on that gallop down the right side for goal. He could have flopped on the ground for any one of them. He preferred to just flick them off and go for the score. That's how it's done...

Kaká was Brazil superstar, he was once warded the best player of the World, not Robinho.
Kaká and Robinho were both superstars, they all just had a bad day and simply underestimated the Dutch
To be fair Kaka was having a terrible time for his standards at Real and Robinho just got loaned back to Santos after having problems at City (After the World Cup he went to AC Milan). The World Cup for them was more of a opportunity to become world class (in Kakas case again). Apart from them Luis Fabiano was a good striker.
