Man, I am in the middle of doing valves, have both heads off. Timing belt failure. Don't have much money tied up in parts really, and nothing in the car but tag fees. So I decided to keep and fix. Got one head done, just need to install the rails. Then I will do the other head and put it all back together. Never have done this before so your videos are extremely helpful. Thanks brother.
How did it works out? I’m doing the same thing on my 2007 Accord. Got it for cheap with a timing belt broken. I got it to run with a new belt but the valves are toast. Any tips?
Man so thankful for you making these j series videos. I have an Acura TL and these are so useful. No complaints here any resources are appreciated!
You're making me look like I know what I'm doing! Thanks for all your videos!
I've learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
Thanks I got my timing off on the timing belt and during the hand crank I realized I was tapping values so I can do this to close the values!
Great video. So you gotta readjust the valves after this?
Affirmative
@ hey man. Thanks I’m about to try and save some money by doing both camshafts myself. Any chance you could list the tools I will need? Honda just quoted me 5k also what are the 1st steps I should always remember 1st. Take out out the spark plugs to turn the motor?
Great video man!
Video was to short☹️ I wanted to see how those seals go on. Next video?
Thank you so much!!
do you have a continuation of putting these pieces back together and tightening the valve spring 10mm nut? trying to see a valve clearance video, i have seen some, but i like to see how other people do it. thanks
thanks for the video.
do you have video changing the cam shaft?
Yeah I’m thinking this video will help a lot bc when I do a valve adjustment on my 01 CL, those rocker arms seemed a bit loose as when I tightened the valve screws they would move a bit, should I do this replacement?
Hello, I have an 07 Pilot and was told I needed to replace the rocker arms as they were damaged, but I'm attempting to do this on my own but I am very confused as to what are the actual part names I need 😅 confused on what they mean by arm a and arm b. I know it sounds like a recipe for disaster but TH-cam has taught me I can do anything.
Can I ask why you changed it? I think I need to change mine on my 2018 civic si. The rocker arms are extremely loud now.
What brand head gaskets do you recommend from Rockauto?
Replacing 2012 mdx rear exhaust rocker … I have it out any trick to take that assembly apart to put new one on?
My lifter broke is there a. Way to only change the lifter?
Hello thank you for your awesome videos! I have a 01 cl type s. I found my rocker arm shaft cracked and it was causing my valvetrain noise. Do I need to take my timing belt off for this procedure if only replacing the intake side shaft for the rocker arm assembly?
I just want to replace whit out remove head tanks good videos
Awesome video brother. You're a great mechanic.
I have a 2016 RDX Acura, turn the engine light on and threw nine codes. I clean the mass air flow sensor, engine light never came back on.
My question to you is, how come the engine light didn't go out by itself I needed an ob2 reader? Thank you in advance
After a problem is fixed it takes many drive cycles for the computer to recognize the issue has been resolved. To clear them out immediately, you need a scanner to reset the computer.
Gteat video brother.
I'm doing my heads on my 03 pilot tight now, when I got heads back from the machine Shop the rocker arm dwell pins where removed, front head calls for solid pins to go in back of the head and the Hallow ones towards the timing belt end,..,,,,,,,,,
So this the Dilema......
For the rear it calls for the solids to be in the front of the head towards the timing belt and tge hallow ones towards the back of the head. But all the videos I have seen have them backwards including mine. Any Idea whis is the right way?
Hey Bundy, how's things going? Got a quick question. I redid my wife's 2003 honda accord ex 3.0 v6 fuel system. The only thing I couldn't find was a fuel rail pulse damper. Do they have one for my year?
My engine starts running good and then all sudden bank 1 seems to shut down engine and oil and vsa ights up on dash.
Can them valve stem seals cause this
Hi there I could not find the eBay link of my for changing valve seals
I'm replacing the oil spool on the front rocker assembly....for this job would it be best to leave in the mounting bolts to the oil spool and rocker assembly when removing them both? i have a 2011 odyssey touring.
how much is the labor for this work
Excellente video bro
Hi have you ever bought any engine cylinder hat for Honda Pilot 2011 At autozone how's the equality is it good
How often you have to do it (Mileage or Months) or do you go by the noise it is making? My Toyota, I do not have to do that.
And did not need to do it on my 2013 CRv.
This is not a maintenance issue. This is only if you want to replace your valve springs with different springs or you need to replace the valve stem seals. Most people will never ever do this but the few who do, that’s why I put this video out.
Hi
I am wondering if you would know where to get the valve spring compressor tool kit for 2005 Acura MDX 3.5 l j series engine?
I need to change valve stems seals without removing the engine
Thanks
For the
car to remove the valve stems seals
Hey what tool use to remove rear head spring to replace stem valve seals
Hey! I've got a 2005 RL. I when I took off the cover (your first step) the manifold had a lot of oil in it and all the ports were pretty gummed up with black oily soot. Right chamber visible from top was The last hole on the right when looking at the metal gasket, that was almost completely plugged. Question: do I need to take off the engine head to clean that out? Don't want anything dropping in that shouldn't be there. At least the valves look clean... though the ports to them are also filthy.
hey there i know i’m a bit late and i hope you can get back to me, i’m having an issue with my j30a4 that i can’t seem to figure out, solenoid has been changed, oils been changed, wirings been professional checked out, the problem is a p2649 code and the car is not engaging vtec and giving me a 3500 rev limiter, is it possible my rocker arm is clogged or stuck in place?
What's that kit called
HAVE A 09 ACCORD WITH 3.5 HAVEING ISSUE WITH CAMSHAFT SEALS NOT SEALING, ALLWAYS START LEAKING AFTER START UP, I HAVE USED SEVERAL DIFFERENT BRANDS OF SEALS AND HONDA, WHAT COULD B THE ISSUE
How do I replace a vtt sensor rear.
My question is it worth doing it?
It is... speaking for my self I like to do this kind of work just for hobby
How would I do the valve seals without taking the head off? How do I stop the valves from falling in the cylinder?
compressed air.
Hey I have some questions about the 06 Odyssey 3.5 ivtec vcm
I bet the VCM has damaged some stuff in there cause of the lack of oil
Concise
I have replaced oil pump spool valve vvt solenoid and all pressure sensor s🙉
OK. I got a question anyone can help me or point me in the right direction I'll appreciate. my car just die on me while running 07 honda accord 3.0 so I checked spark ✅ gas✅ but no compression in all cylinders. time belt is good and aligned. what could be the problem??
How do you know the timing belt is good? Sounds like the timing belt broke. When was the last time you had it changed?
@@bundysgarage i know because i took the covers out and honda replaced the timing belt 20k miles ago. is very strange for me i cant think of anything wrong..
@@bundysgarage thanks for the fast reply
What is the link to the eBay kit referenced in the video? Thanks.
Here you go: www.ebay.com/itm/ON-HEAD-PNEUMATIC-VALVE-SPRING-REMOVER-INSTALLER-use-w-BENZ-BMW-TOYOTA-FORD/372797638661?hash=item56cc788805:g:D~oAAOSw4CFYyK7B:sc:FedExHomeDelivery!33511!US!-1
So you don't have to remove the timing belt to do this?
No you don't.
2008 v6 Honda Accord
Standard belt and water pump change.
All pulleys on, wrapping the belt around, getting all the way to rear cam.
All of a sudden, my rear cam snapped "back counterclockwise" abt 8-9 teeth.
Grabbed#17 will not go back, seems like it's climbing uphill. Turn the Crank to 3: nothing. Turn the Crank to 9: nothing. This is the point I need help.
Anyone?
Beck Arnley was better than fel-pro? I'm shocked
Beck Arnley, Ishino or Stone .. ...all are Made In Japan
Hey, I had to replace the spool valve on an 08 Accord EX with the 3.5 V6. I had an oil leak at the base where it attaches to the engine. I removed it, cleaned the surface really well and put a bead of Permatex ultra grey (I followed the instruction and let it cure fully before turning the car back on) and then put everything back together and it’s still leaking. All bolts torqued to specs. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I wouldn’t use any sealant. I replaced the oil filter housing and solenoid assembly as well on my j30 and I used the provided gasket and just torqued everything to spec. If it is still leaking, check your front main seal/oil pump housing seal. It is very common for those to go bad and it seems practically untraceable without pressure washing the whole underside and then driving around for a day to see the leak. I chased my leak down to the oil pump seal and it hasn’t leaked since
warning ....do not buy timing belt kits on ebay ....even if the say genuine honda....... THEY ARE NOT.......and the tensioner will fail at 2 to 3k mile causing bent valves ....happen to me twice in one week causing thousands in damage
Where do you buy it
It's a good video just wish you went slower and the voice over was matching the video. I've watched a lot of your videos just wish this one was a little more in depth and more detailed. To short and to fast and lacked detail. Sorry your Honda video are good but this one fail to make the grade. But I give all your videos a 👍 up
Agree... When you are learning..slower is better.
