Absolutely incredible build, the level of detail is mind-boggling....RESPECT ! I have owned, loved, and wrenched on 3 Corvairs (`65 Monza and 2 `66 Corsas), built one of the Corsas into a Crown conversion mid-engine 327 back in `79-`80. 400 HP and 2500 lbs. equals a lot of fun. Many Chevelles, Goats, Mustangs, Road Runners, etc. got embarrassed by "a lowly Corvair". I miss those days !
Agree. Still blows me away all the stuff that was changed, mounting everything right, straight etc This is a giant middle finger passing traffic in the fast lane!
Awesome build! A guy named Charlie has one he use to race in the Silver State Classic ORR in Nevada. It was a mid engine setup and ran well hitting speeds over 170 mph with an estimated 400 to 450hp. He wrecked one and then built another one again with the full tube chassis design both times. Its on YT and shows it doing an end over end crash at high speed but don't remember where exactly in the archives it can be found.
I had a 65 two door. Respect! You built a car underneath the lines of a body that is legendary. Something about the 65 or body in general that makes people dream. Well … you dreamt!
They had an original kit that removed the rear seat and put in a small block where the rear seat was giving the car almost neutral handling and lots of power!
WOW!! THat is one angry lookin' s.o.b!! Amazing build waaaay over my head. Start with a great foundation and.. These cars are so frigging light cant imagine one with 4-500hp
I have to agree that the craftsmanship is very good and I'm sure the final results are what you expected. You probably could have put any body on that frame with similar results. That being said the only thing I can nit pick on is the fender flares. Sense the chassis and suspension dictate the track width of the car I understand the need for something to cover the tires. As your craftsmanship shows your ability to do most anything to the chassis or body, it is of my opinion (and we know what options get you). How hard would it of been to have widened the body 3" on each side of the centerline, there by keeping the tires inside the wheel wells? I'm sure there is a lot more work involved but the outcome would have been outrageously more stunning in the overall looks department. Again it's just one old farts opinion.
Nope, I wholeheartedly disagree. This is like a miniature '66/'67 Chevelle. Kind of like Scott Taylor's John Doe oldsmobile cutlass converted from front wheel drive to rwd small tire street outlaws car. It's all about taking a car with body lines you love and building it to what you want.
@@andrewmcewan8081 Take a look at the video again at 9:15 / 9:25 and you'll see that they built a huge air box into the nose and air inlets under the bumper approximately 4"×16". This doesn't "ruin" any body lines.
Simply put... This is an absolutely spot on build. Without a question. Just the wrong car. Think about a 65 corvette and someome putting the engine in the back, youve made a bastard classic... But I guess half of every one is a bastard anyway right? 🤣
Had a 67 with a crown kit for v8 ..drove it from San Diego to Albany Georgia. And promptly sold it..girlfriend said it go's or I do...we got another car..

As a Corvair enthusiast: I would have to say this build was out standing; Thanks for sharing.

@@gordocarbo Yeah I can see it now WTF was that! LOL
The chassis is wild, wild! What an absolute piece of art this car is!
That is the best looking Corvair I have ever seen,
Gyawd...I fkn neeeed this Corvair in my life!!
This change of engine to the front was excellent, in addition to being a beautiful car. Congratulations

Had a 63 spyder, nice engine and wish new designers would see the insanity and build on that other than just dropping a shell on a new corvette.
Just beef up the corvair motor. Turbo charge it. It's like a 911. Just add turbo👍
That's One BAD ASS Corvair!
They had an original kit that removed the rear seat and put in a small block where the rear seat was giving the car almost neutral handling and lots of power!
I have envisioned this type of build myself for some 30+ years. ❤👍

Congratulations it's a sort of Dreams car nice work
Cool ride clyde
What a transformation fantastic work !
Wow! Great build and video
Love the look of it
I want an Evair
Gmpp might still sell their Ecrate conversions
I miss fabrication. I learned alot.
I thought is was going to be a rear engine v8 build but it is still SICK look'n that corvair awesome
Thank you for uploading the video.. Hansoo.. I'm learning. 🤔👏😎😊
I like the idea of putting the engine behind the front wheels thereby creating more of a mid engine car which will handle much better

Well yea.
nice car 😮🤔👏😎
There is some nice work here with a few cringe bits but I'm glad they didn't go down the route of adding a grill to a corvair.
Sweet! nice build! Would you by chance have the mold or copies of the flared side panels?
the whole point of a corvair is its rear engined , should have done all this fantastic engineering on something else

@@rustymohr6652 u ruin the lines by cutting in a grill or r u feeding the radiator fromm underneath

I guess you must. You commented first to start this thread.

Smaller rims and tires up front. Set that nose down. Otherwise amazing work!!
How many here bailed once they saw its not mid engined? I did
I would have kept the engine in the back though.
Totally agree, it would be like having a rear engine Camaro…
Misspelled the tag. DNR H8R. Do not resuscitate Hater
Needs some vents to help that rad cool down
I've been told a 87 Buick Regal has the same wheelbase?
Yeah read about guys using Gbody chassis with this body
Is this the corvair that body is already made by some company
Cool car...Birth~~!!! haha

Wish I had of known I would have bought it.but I got one now
Ive heard that so many times! Still got the car glad I have none of those selfish hos
The engine should go behind the driver
Custom classic garage is taking way too long on their similar project
Builds like this can take yrs
Not
A
Corvair
Sure looks like it to me!
Beautiful build but not a Corvair.
Uh oh, a purist?
