Excellent parade. West Point is THE place to be for the finest of everything. The academy, grounds, the view of the Hudson, the museum, the cemetery, parades, education and on and on are second to none. I grew up not far from West Point. The memories I have of the place are wonderful. Thank you for posting this. George Vreeland Hill
Whilst I couldn't agree with most of those comments (IMHO Sandhurst holds better parades, offers a more solid education, the academy buildings and grounds, to my view, are more picturesque). However, I will say marching on grass is extremely difficult. The parade did well to do so. Perhaps it was the view of the Hudson.
People should understand that these cadets are the equivalent of a basically trained soldier or ROTC. The marching and precision will not be there, they are "boots" in other words.
@DrKorn5 Actually, White used to be the color of trim on intantry uniforms in the late 1800s. The uniforms of the 1890s were manificently accuted. Uniforms became more utilitarian during the first world war. Thank you for commenting
@tommy192771 I hevent ever looked it up before but the explanation i got during beast was that because we march with an 8 man front we dont use column movements
What is the uniform in the last rank of the company at 3:57? Red trousers and a blue jacket? Certainly not USNA or USAFA exchange cadets/midshipmen. Would this be an exchange cadet from a foreign academy, such as Sandhurst?
@@itisbigernie Some of the companies had exchange students from the other service academies. At time mark 2:26 you see one from the naval academy and at time mark 249 you see a cadet- wearing a white hat and an Air Force blue tunic - from the Air Force Academy
yes that is a transfer program. there probably are some usma cadets at navy and af doin the same thing. its a cool program but i bet transfered cadets and mids get so much crap from the school they r at cuz of the rivalries... but awesome experience tho!
@cotroni4 Any other western country with commune healthcare and a social system to fall back on, that doesn't go invade countries at random? Sorry but you asked...
why do we always have to use those stupid brass instruments, someone get some drums in there, this shit could sound so much better. i wanna see some tribal sounds coming out these guys like those black college bands hahaha

The single bass drummer is providing the beat for everyone in the parade to stay in step.
The mach they are playing at minute 1:35 we used to play it in my high school back in Honduras.
The name of the March is the "Thunderer" by John Philip Sousa.
Happy New Year 2020
GOD BLESS AMERICA FOREVER!
KEEP AMERICA GREAT FOREVER !

LA FABBRICA DEI PREPOTENTI !!!!
I'm afraid this was ruined by the commentary
Why are some cadets not wearing gray uniforms?
The members of the band, who are wearing blue tunics are not cadets, they are Soldiers in the regular Army .
@@588158 HI, they were not marching with the bands. They were marching with the cadets' companies.
@@588158 I saw them at 2:26, 2:47, 3:09, 3:59 & 4:05 time marks. Thanks.

You should learn how to spell first, criticize last.
all praise to the "corps of cadets"
