Nice work! One correction at 15:50 - that first arpeggiated chord is a C 7#9 chord - there should be an E natural at the bottom of the arpeggio.
This is a good catch! Reflected it in the chord chart. I'm not hearing any flat 7th though.
@@warrenmusic Agreed, no 7th. It's probably more accurate to call the arpeggios a C triad, then Dd triad, resolving to an Eb triad, where the Eb on top of the arpeggios acts like a pedal tone. Tension/release, dissonance moving to consonance. What a great moment!

Thanks for the kind words. To answer your question, I have not really thought about that one because it would be tough to make it work for one guitar. For how to play specific parts or songs though, you can commission me for a video tutorial on anything you'd like to see!

I like how you have done this. I don't read music. I really don't care to know. When I write chords, I write it how I will understand it. You've done a similar thing here. I guess sheet music is a universal language of music but it doesn't really tell me much about the feel of music.
Sheet music is FAR from universal. I’d argue TUBS is a far better connector across different traditions of music. Standard notation is great for a lot of things, but quickly understanding most popular songs on an intuitive level takes so much more time and study than with scale degrees/solfege, which I’ve combined with TUBS and Diatonic Harmony (Chord Numerals) here.

All i want to ask is how do I breakdown the songs by ear, I mean its pretty hard for me to get through the whole song. all i can do presently is find the root notes and melodies going in them on my guitar. What would suggest.

There is such a weird note hanging out in that one key change just after the main riff @15:15 ... it feels out of place in the first part but marries perfectly with the new section. It causes a flash of tension as it's unexpected and leaves you wondering if it was a mistake or where the piece will go, only to immediately release that tension in a beautiful transition to another key. It's feels like tripping on a curb at a full run, only to complete an elegant acrobatic flip in the air and landing perfectly on your feet.
I know nothing about music theory, and I can't play any instrument... I just love music, and Thom Yorke is a magical man. I just came here to see that transition in greater detail.

I came really late to ask but. I would really like to see you play polyethylene from the OKNOTOK computer album.
Very nice. Like mugitz123, I think 15:50 is a little incorrect. I hear C (left hand) E G D# (right hand) making it a Cadd#9. The second chord would be a similar Dbadd9 chord (or C#add9) with Db (left hand), F Ab Eb (right hand), and finally the Eb chord - Eb (left), G Bb Eb (right).
That first triad is what made me take my phone over to the piano to figure this out :) or maybe it was the Bb on that D chord... Super cool changes though and a neat analysis on your part. I don't really feel the "Mixolydian" because (to me) that would indicate a flat 7, and as you pointed out, the Bb is a flat 6. The 7 is normal (natural). I can't think of another part of the song where the 7 is played but that doesn't mean anything.
I heard this song on some Netflix show (Jessica Jones maybe?). I recorded it using my voice record app and went over to the piano. That was one of the first shows I watched during the quarantine. I don't know why I thought about it today but I wondered if anyone had already shown how to play this and I landed here. I did manage to learn/steal a lick from this video in another section - I didn't give that other section much thought because this creepy part was what I was after. I think I can play it all correctly now so thank you! :)
Maybe Part II could be explaining what the heck this song is about lol!

I do think mate you spend ages explaining the simple parts. 11 minute on the opening motif and rif. If you're teaching a song. Do you have to talk about the technical aspects of it. Thom Yorke is instinctive. He will most of thinking there is tension in that song but more attune to where its taking him. I appreciate the time you spend explaining things. But it might save you more time if you edited down. Like I said 11 minutes explain d and the descending 4 notes. There isn't really a need for it. Just my opinion though
