Happy Republic Day!
Musical waves amidst the waves of the mighty ocean in the ever magnificent Kanyakumari - our hometown!
Filled with immense happiness and joy, we present this medley shot at Kanyakumari as our humble tribute to our motherland on the Republic day!! We were awe-inspired by this spectacular ocean, the Vivekananda rock & the Tiruvalluvar statue, and thought of creating this medley in Sindhubhairavi with a garland of compositions by the great composers of our country🙏🏼

கடலில் தவழ்ந்தது அலையா இல்லை சிந்துபைரவியா!! மங்கையர் தந்த முத்தான பாடல்கள் சிப்பிக்குள்ளிருந்து வந்தவை போல சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. கன்னியரின் இன்னிசையில் கன்னியாகுமரியை கண்டு களித்தோம். சுரம் சேர்ந்தது போல நாமும் இணைவோம்

akkarai sisters have already carved a niche in carnatic music as one of the finest (vocal /violinist) . this should be posted at national level as a national integration song . my humble opinion.

@Visalakshi K Raman A comment: I understand that the north Indian raag Peelu (my son and I call it SRee Raadhaa-Hr^dayam in our private spiritual practice in view of its unique mix of both samyOga and vipRyOga Sr^n*gara rasa-s) also can use all the 12 tones! Peelu also is a magical melodic form. And of course Sindhu Bhairavi has all the sacredness of the Mother Goddess! May all these raga-s heal us all in these harsh times!
@@DKMKartha108 I learned SadhAsiva Brahmendra's famous bhajan "BhajarE yadhu nAtham" from M. S. S amma's cassette. I did not care to look up for the arOhaNam and avarOhaNam at that time.
But today I looked up . You are correct except for the fact that rAgam Peelu uses only Suddha rishabam and not both rishabams.
When a raga uses so many different swarasthanas it creates a mesmerizing effect.
Music is the song of the soul!
@@visalakshik.raman.6278 In north Indian music ALL the 12 tones are used. Here is a quote: Raga Pilu is a light raga commonly used to express joy, devotion, happiness and love. It is mostly used in light-classical forms, like the Khayal, of north Indian classical style. Raga Pilu is a light classical raga or thumri that is quite varied. Like Bhairavi, all the 12 notes can be used in a composition. Since the structure of the raga is left to the artist's style and interpretation, it is sometimes referred to as Misra Pilu (‘mixed version of Pilu’) which incorporates not only the main notes but grace notes like komal re, suddha Ga, tivra Ma, komal dha, and both Ni's. @@visalakshik.raman.6278 I double-checked in my MAnasa Guru PaNDit Manik Bua Thakurdas-ji's RaagdarSan: He also describes Peelu as capable of taking all the 12 notes. He criticizes those who call it a Dhun, lower in status than a raag. He is generally against the idea of hierarchizing ragas as major and minor. namastE!

What a beautiful tribute to Bharata Mata on the occasion of India's 73rd Republic Day! Hats off to you, Akkarai Sisters, for coming up with the concept. Delighted to see you both play a medley of amazing compositions in raga Sindhu Bhairavi, from multiple composers in various langauges of Bharat, that too at Kanyakumari, where three oceans (Sindhu) merge into One! Ending on the ever-popular 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara', followed by the notes of the National Anthem was a masterstroke! Gave me goosebumps! Proud to be a Bharatiya. Special kudos to the brilliant percussionist Shri Arun Kumar and excellent videography by the team of Mr Manivannan, Muthukrishnan and Balaji.

What an excellent rendition in a good awesome locations.
What a way to begin the Akkarai Sisters' first upload of the year! As an avid listener you can't ask for more. Can you? It is a garland indeed but embellished with musical jewels. A great lesson on how to present a carnatic instrumental medley. The music flowing from their violin is so continuous and one can never feel the switch between the songs. Sindhu Bhairavi is their forte and it is fascinating to see how they have handled each composition! The pitch perfect intonations to match with their seamless bowing and finger techniques portrays the emotions beautifully in each piece. Vidwan Arun Kumar's handling of different percussions deserve special mention. His choice of instruments for each piece was brilliant! It is a conglomeration of outstanding musicians coming together to provide such a aesthetic and blissful experience😊
The conceptualization of the video by Swamynathan Sir added the director's touch to the entire presentation! Kudos to the entire photography team and of course an exceptional audio editing by Akkarai Sisters. They are definitely a master of different trades! Good luck and best wishes to them in their future endeavours.
