    Hi David. Here You can control the "fan speed". The file cur_state works from 0 to 4. Personally I set 1 or 2
    /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device0/cur_state

    Hi, thanks for this concrete tutorial without unifying things. I would like to ask you if it is possible using Raspberry Imager to install Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop, for the first time, on a 64Gb SD-Card on a RaspBerry PI 5 with 8Gb

    I've said goodbye to SD card since when RPI 4 was able to boot from SSD.
    My question: Is Ubuntu capable of booting from SSD on RPI 5? 🤔

    So I have some problem. Could Raspberry Pi 5 support legacy version of ubuntu, like 22.04? Or if I only can install 23.10, will there be some ros2 version that will support ubuntu 23.10? Thx

    • @kneekoo
      @kneekoo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Raspberry Pi 5 needs the newer version of Ubuntu because that's what has proper driver support. If you're talking about the Robot Operating System (ROS), they will probably support the next long-term support release of Ubuntu, which will come out in about 5 months. Until then, you can try "Running ROS 2 nodes in Docker" - that's the name of the article in their online documentation.

    I wonder if there weren't any inconvenient while using ubuntu on Raspberry pi 5
    cause I felt it's too slow to use ubuntu on raspberry pi4, though it was just terminal mode no GUI.
    and some upgrade didn't work well. so I had to turn it back to Rasp OS again .

    Doesn't work. I can get the image written but whether I put it on an sd card, or a USB SSD Ununtu from the imager just won't boot. Raspberry Pi OS no problem, but Ubuntu fails...

    Thanks for the video. However, equivalent installation for Ubuntu 23.10 server does not work. OS loads successfully, but then system requires login and password. And for any login and password, including ubuntu - ubuntu, it says login incorrect. Is there a solution for that?

      No, you can't do it. Only Ubuntu 23.10 is supported on RPi5, not earlier Ubuntu versions. You can use docker container of course, but this is not straightforward OS installation.

    If you had a big enough SD card, could you dual boot a Rpi?

    • @funwithrpis3281
      @funwithrpis3281 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes.. PINN from sourceforge is likely your best bet. It is based off NOOBS which was something the Pi foundation wrote yet no longer maintains. Honestly though why bother when you can buy multiple cheap smaller SD cards (can buy in a pack) and just run them separately. I am pretty sure that is why the foundation killed the NOOBS project.

      At the login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+F5 to switch to a TTY. You'll be prompted to enter a login. At the login prompt, enter your username and press Enter. You'll then be prompted for your password. You will not see your password as you are typing it; just type it and press "Enter."
      Now do some changes with below commands
      mv ~/.config ~/.config.old
      mv ~/.local ~/.local.old
      mv ~/.cache ~/.cache.old
      sudo systemctl reboot.
