First time that I ever heard this when I was in elementary school where my mom was a substitute teacher/assistant librarian. She was also one of my first ever teachers along with her mom (who was also our grandmother, who was the child of two educators of color from Georgia who founded a school in the rural community of color in Ila, Georgia in 1889. Our mom was an alumnus of two HBCUs (Both NCCU and Livingstone College here in NC). My second/third grade teacher and my mom were both graduates of the same school where I and my brothers attended elementary school from 1961-1966. Mom did temporally replace this lady who was one of the best teachers ever when this lady had to have some emergency surgery. It saved her life. She was❣ an alumnus of JCSU in Charlotte, NC. Both of these magnificent ladies of color are in heaven now and I hope to see them both again someday. 💯
Splendid performance. This is the song I participated in a senior boy's choir way back in the late 50s' singing in the school competition and won the champion. The principal of my old school Kings College in Hong Kong was so proud of our achievement.
