Hey hey, I was also one of the official photographers for L16 back in the days, I remember your photos, have you managed to get the photos to work with lumen? or other software? .. i thought it would be fun to see if this camera actually can still produce some amazing photos even so many years ago..
That’s awesome! I’d love to see your work with it! Send me your IG! I still actively shoot with it and Lumen seems to be working on my older laptop. The Lumen on my iMac keeps crashing however :/
mine is running on LightOS version 1.3.4.1-111 with Camera Firmware Version 006FD11B and Build Number 00WW_1_341. The only thing the update gave the camera the capability of was 4K Video as an option but I never filmed any video on it.
I think these type of tests need to be done by taking the (approximately) same photo, but with a different camera, in order to have a relevant comparison. In this case, because of the camera ergonomics, i would just use a smart phone to take the sane photo i just took with the L16. Then you can show side by side how different the L16 photos are. Just a thought.
Love that idea!!! Thank you so much for your valueable feedback here. I will definitely plan a video around that later this year as I will be visiting Lake Tahoe so it will make quiet the good setting to test out landscape photohraphy. I think the general idea with this one was whether it was still capturing quality photos itself and the tech holds up after 6 years :) do you own a Light L16?
I’m thinking about buying one just because it’s $100. But I keep hearing complain about the firmware not being available. How did you find it? Still working?
OMG did it go all the way down to $100 now!!???! So sad 😭😭😭 i got this camera when Light asked me to promote the L16 for them so the aoftware was on their website as well and you could get the updates through. Now the software does not run on recent MacOS so I am keeping a laptop not updated strictly because of that 😂😂😂
I’m afraid not :/ i had the worst experience with the video part on this camera when i did the update so never filmed with it afterwards. The file sizes are huge too compared to the length you film. You are better off of filming with a decent camera or phone
They are surprisingly good quality!!! Very sharp and vibrant colors, but editing is such a pain with processing and size. Without their own software you can’t edit on photoshop and lightroom either
Ugh I just bought 5 of these for $100 new in the box I thought I was getting a deal. Got home and found out this company is out of business 🤦🏻♂️ honestly I got them for video. The guy told me they were great for video. But it doesn’t even do video 😡
I can’t even believe you found 5 of these new in the box!!! You would need to update them to get the video capability but take it from me, it is not worth it.
@@CanAhtam, IT IS WORTH IT! Can you find a similar one elsewhere? I also have a brand new Lytro Illum-YES, they are clunky sometimes, but that's because they were still in BETA mode when their companies shut down. So we need to appreciate the marvel they are because they are unique, and that makes them very special and worth having in the collection. And yes I got 8 other cameras including 2023 models from the BIG BRANDS and LIGHT is worth more than those GREEDY MADE CAMERAS ! Imagine what the next L16 model should have been......in the actual world where everything is soo expensive...nobody cares to invent something revolutionary....sooo we will maybe never see another iteration of a Light kind of cameras - Even the BIG players don't bother to invent something new. Now it got worse because they can sell us SHITTY CAMERAS based on Ai....who needs bigger sensors and fast cameras with tons of features ?? AI will do everything for you ! CHEERS AND KEEP TAKING PICTURES AND APPRECIATE IF YOU GOT A SPECIAL CAMERA IN YOUR HANDS.... Nothing is perfect in this Universe, including Humans.
so well said! Light L16 is truly such a treasure!! I want to buy one other probably and keep it in its package as a true preserved tech. They tried to work with Nokia on the Lumen smartphones btw, but the phone never stuck a landing to begin with. Then they moved into the automotive industry instead (bold move!) not sure if they are still active, but such a disappointing end to the camera itself. I hope more innovative brands will step up and challenge these brands like Apple who just feel comfortable with unnecessary attributes to their phones.

I have one question! Is yours running on LFC-1351-0-00WW-A01? If so, can you tell a difference between that firmware and what it had before? Thanks!

@@CanAhtam $100 paperweight lol. Im surprised no one ever open sourced it.
Hahahhaah i really believe there is still such potential to turn this into something but the buyer market was probably not strong enough
are the short video clips filmed with the L16 ?

@@CanAhtam cool , i bought it because i like your videos lol , plus its 100$ now so im sure your gonna get lots of questions bout it
@HipHopRapScene i would love to see the content you shoot with it!
Are the pictures good quality I heard it can do 80 megapixels

Omg that is crazy!!!! It is a cool gadget but can’t imagine buying a pallet worth of it
