To note I used to drive a 335d from 2017, and was a very big fan of the car, so of course I will be biased towards a 3 series. I have test driven the new 3 series and it was a 320i that I was given so I feel as if I can speak on a few point you have made. I now drive a 5 series touring if that is at all relevant...? Some very questionable takes with a lot of what you have said about the vehicle. This review came across as if you WANTED to hate the car. Firstly I see you are comparing the suspension of a small saloon to a Range Rover discovery which is like comparing power between a Ferrari and a Fiat. It is pointless, and the Cars have very different purposes. The car also had run flats on it which is absolutely going to reduce the ride quality that you have complained about. You mentioned the car should have "Pops and Bangs" with it being an "M Sport". This shows that you may not be entirely aware that M Sport is the TRIM, not the performance of the vehicle. Seeing as it is BMW's bottom of the line, smallest and most economical petrol engine (in the 3 series) to expect high performance and noises is quite the delusion. People who are buying a 320i or 320d are not doing it for a fast, life-changing driving experience. If you are to review an M340i, M340d or M3 then it is absolutely important to talk about the noises and power. Small note, you seemed quite upset at the engine turning off with "Start-Stop", 99% of cars manufactured in the last 8 years or so have this feature, and it can be turned off very easily. The manual shifters are easily kept on by shifting gears correctly or "aggressively". If you just cruise for 5 seconds or so in a gear that makes no sense it will go back to drive as to not waste fuel. The camera for parking turns off once you have driven away.... once you are no longer parking? Weird thing for you to mention as it turned off after you pulled away. At the end you talk about the gear changing being bad? The ZF 8 speed transmission is used in so many vehicles, Aston Martins, Fords, Alfa Romeos, Toyotas... Range Rovers? They are very good transmissions and its a weird thing to comment on, especially when the coveted discovery of yours uses essentially the same one... Also having seen your review on the iX1 I can see that you have issues with the air curtains on the front of the vehicle which allows air to pass through reducing drag which makes the vehicle more efficient. That is the point in the "Random Gaps" I do agree with some of the things you have said with the interior, IE climate being within the infotainment is alway a negative to me, but to complain about the build quality whilst mashing your hands into stuff felt a bit OTT in my opinion, but I do think the new 3 series has seen a clear reduction in build quality on the interior. I mean after seeing some of your content, you are someone that thinks new Range Rovers are extremely reliable so it does say a lot. Lastly to add, as someone who is around 6ft 2" I have never had the issues of smashing my head on the way in, although with a lot of what you have said, that would explain a lot ;)
You’ve made some great points about the differences in trim levels and the purpose of certain features. You have great insights on the ZF transmission and the Start-Stop system, as well as the clarification on air curtains.
Why are you judging m-sport suspension on awful roads from the places you were filming? The roads are terrible on your video, I would not buy saloon car on m-sport suspension for those kinds of roads, it is build for german autobahns. Try base suspension and then judge. About 320i dynamics - it is basically the entering drivetrain for g20. If you want dynamics, get at leats 330i or M340i. For basic drivetrain it has enough power. If you dont like it - go tune it to 280 hp and try again, you will not be disappointed. 320i - the best can in the segment.
I think you have to knock the gear lever over to manual if you want the flaps to stay on and don’t go back into auto mode. That’s what you had to do in my 335d
I agree with you on the additional tech that just makes the driving experience worse. Had a Kia as a courtesy car the other day, it was struggling to find the white lines on the road and was tugging at the steering. Lots of bongs for unnecessary things. Noticed on there with all the climate settings etc being on the screen, what’s wrong with physical buttons for those bits. Feels like we’ve gone backwards in some ways.
Ok bud complaining about pickup time in 320i just shows that you have no idea of what car you are driving. On top of that you are complaining about it while the car is in eco or comfort. 🤦♂️ Bad review overall. All the safety stuff as much as I find annoying as well it’s good that it’s there because for elder people and just “slower people” this is fantastic. Just turn it off before you drive it, that simple. I could go on and on about how rubbish your arguments. I think it’s a good car and probably best compared to competitors.
Exactly the reason you need to look after the FK2. All new cars are designed to be as annoying as possible with all the gadgets trying to limit your enjoyment & driving experience.
I have had a 3 and 5 series - its the runflats that ruins the drive on uks rds - also most people have larger wheels with these runflats and that makes it worse
It’s not a fake M badge it’s a M sport trim like ST line for the Focus. A 330i/M340i/ M3 would run rings around a Focus ST I wouldn’t talk too much. RWD/Xdrive being more fun & sporty furthermore.

VALID (100 EMOJI)!
Completely agree.

@@gleb5524 think il just take my discovery 👍
@@barrettsreviewsX5 Is clear of a discovery in ALL aspects.
0-60 in less than 8 seconds is perfectly fine for a normal family car it’s a 320i not a m340i, I feel like you just don’t like bmw so you are biased
Run flat tyres are terrible for ride quality. Changing them can transform the car.
I drive a 330e msport pro touring and it’s bloody brilliant

No gear leaver buddy just this new switch they put on all there cars now 👍
@@barrettsreviewsIf you pulled the switch for auto select towards you it will go into manual mode

There just crap 👍
Not driven many cars then.

Il walk 👍
You bought one then? 😅
My Disco goes back into D like that too unless it’s in sport mode .
The new 320i would be the equivalent of a 1.6 Sierra back in the day for engine pick up
I always laugh at 320 owners giving it large on the road. Now they even got the dual exhausts to look even more sporty.

🤣🤣 to true, filming the FK2 next week and can not wait 💪🏻

So is that worse…or worst? 😂
bait title, thumbs down
Drive mode makes no difference to the suspension set up unless you have adaptive suspension which this car does not. Reviewer clearly has no idea.😂
What do you expect??? It's a BMW with a fake M badge on it. When will people realise, it's just crap on top of crap
100% 👍
