Hey ants! Love your work I hate to annoy you with a suggestion, what if you did a hallway in the middle and 2 rooms off the hallway. Then you could have another door into the garage, if you wanted. Then you wouldn’t have to go through a bedroom to get to another bedroom.

Hi. As usual, I'm watching you with great interest, especially as you're doing things quite similar to what I'm doing too - messing around with renovating an old wooden house. However, in the case of this foundation, I wanted to alert you to a problem that could cost you a lot of extra work in the future. The worst enemy of wood is moisture. If I observed correctly in the video you covered the foundation log up to half of its height. You secured this with roofing felt, which is good, but which at the same time has now created a gutter into which water will enter. This water will not have an easy time evaporating off the foundation log and will cause the log to rot and mould quickly. If I may make a suggestion, I'd forge the foundation too high so that the foundation log is 100% exposed and can breathe freely. Thank you so much for your videos and I wish you all the best for the new year!
@@Ants_Pants And that will certainly extend the life of that foundation, although that's not the only water that will collect there and that will have trouble evaporating. You will do as you see fit, I strongly recommend you, however, to cat that concrete flush with the bottom of the foundation log. That concrete overlapping the log is not good for anything, and you will have a healthy house for many more years. Best regards!

I wondered about making an offset bucket to allow you to dig under the log wall better from the side, it would save you having to dig such a wide trench?Maybe worth thinking about. Unless it would strain the boom too much, I don't know. Happy days anyway dude for us armchair watchers! Thank you!
Bro you definitely should get a concrete vibrator for your next concrete job. Does wonders to your concrete strenght, also helps it to fill smll gaps and holes. The ones form china also work OK.

In czechia we put this concrete mix as a plaster on the walls, it aquires a little bit of skill to mix it well and throw it on the wall, when i was 13 i really liked that job. But for concrete we used less sand and more fine gravel rock, it will cost less and also wont crack that much.
Next time they’re eating the snow, tell them you just saw the dog pee there. After all it really isn’t that safe to eat snow, there could be microscopic organisms in the raw snow.

Hi Ant's phil again lol... with your skills you can get a job of work done that looks easy....with your new lathe--welder and plasma cutter why not have a go at making a digging bucket slightly wider than the dipping arm say 12" or twelve inches wide it would make digging easier on the machine joints and would be a really useful bucket for doing "footings" or pipe lines...and you would use less material on back fillings....just a small job to make one or two for the size of work you are going to be doing......from my family to yours happy new year..

It’s probably too late but if you drill some rebar into the old foundation you can tie them together.
Next time they’re eating the snow, tell them you just saw the dog pee there. After all it really isn’t that safe to eat snow, there could be microscopic organisms in the raw snow.

Hi Ant's phil again lol... with your skills you can get a job of work done that looks easy....with your new lathe--welder and plasma cutter why not have a go at making a digging bucket slightly wider than the dipping arm say 12" or twelve inches wide it would make digging easier on the machine joints and would be a really useful bucket for doing "footings" or pipe lines...and you would use less material on back fillings....just a small job to make one or two for the size of work you are going to be doing......from my family to yours happy new year..
not sure if it's worth it bud, can get really decent used buckets for 200-300 bucks
