Funniest part of this episode was that it ended with a plug for a dampener after he just roasted Wilson for using CV to dampen racquets internally 😂

Harry should remember that there are many players out there that want a very damp feel...what he deems "dead" feeling is someone else's "plush" or "comfortable". I wonder if he would be so negative on sucn a damp racquet if it were a current model being offered in his shop? Also, the reason top pro road cyclists appreciate some dampness built into a frame & fork isn't for "big bumps", but more for the constant vibration that occurs when riding on asphalt & tarmac. It's well known that constant vibration being transmitted to the body is extremely fatiguing as well as can cause numbness & nerve damage. Harry should really not speak when he doesn't know about a subject, because he can come off as a clueless baffoon...unless that's the impression he's looking to give. I really appreciate a lot of Harry's content, but this video is actually very poorly done IMO.

Your explanation of Countervail benefits in bikes is on point. And yes, there are indeed some players who want a racquet that has minimal vibrations.
Harry is a clueless buffoon. It’s ok to acknowledge one’s lack of knowledge on a subject; no one can know everything. Unfortunately, he’s the provincial know-it-all uncle who will expound on anything based on anecdote.

The non-countervail version 6 is MUCH better. It’s a real players racquet. No nonsense, very direct, good power, good control even after all these years. No gimmicks.

Putting countervail aside. I'd be curious to know how different the latest Blade is to the very first wilson blade. Has the technology really changed that much? Or has the paint job changed?

I have that blade countervail v6 in 18x20. It feels great for volleys.

I have the blade reverse color v6 18x20 as well it was a great racquet imho... mine felt a bit light but was pretty awesome until it cracked at the throat near the hoop in the corner. bummed, but the 18x20 gen 2 pure strike has been a decent dense frame for me. edit - both 18x20 frames needed a bit of lead @ 3 & 9 and some additional weight in the handle, stock form didn't do it for me.

I have the blade V5 98 S and I love it, just realised I love it. How does the V9 compare to it? I'm playing really well with this blade, I will probably go back to it as i've been using babolat pure drive VS

What are the best strings to add feel to the countervail version of the Wilson Blade?
¿cuáles son Las mejores cuerdas para sumar feel la versión countervail de Wilson Blade?

May have answered a problem for me. I just recently bought a Pro Staff 97L V11 with countervail. Used it for about a month now and have a like don't like relationship with it so far. Seems like something is missing. Maybe countervail is the problem.🤔

As a cyclist I agree, you can never have enough dampening on a road bike. "Compliance" is a term thrown around left and right in the cycling industry. On a tennis racket, I can think of nothing worse 🤢

Well, SOME absorption of vibration is a good thing. I remember my old Head Ti.fire being completely hollow, unplayable without dampener.
Get some hefty shocks in your arm when it´s already maxed out due to weigt and stiff frame and there you have it.

Regardless of feel, how different is the playability?

the best Wilson Blade 98 was the black "Amplifeel" with silver aesthetics, 16x19, the only thing I needed to do was tie a fat rubber-band at the bottom of the face, like Agassi.Raonic used it; not sure who else. I could do anything with the racquet, easily able to get good speed, weighted well, pocket well w/poly hybrid w/Nxt Even if I mishit at times, the ball stayed in. so sad they messed it up

There is connection between the materials with carbon road bike & CV racket. Modern carbon bike fork and chainstay is absorbing heavily the road bumps, otherwise it would be impossible to ride 3-6h on bad surface asphalt. I have like 15y experience on road bicycle. Have had also CV Blade racket, very bad one. All-in-all marketing department have figured out smth to sell the CV racket ;)

the 2015 blade 98 was the best one, but yeah....i didn't like the lime green and black blade. the v9 gave me tennis elbow as it was too stiff too. the 2015 one has the right flexibility and head light for whippy shots too. 4.5 here.

Isn't the Countervail Blade also stiffer than the earlier and later versions?

    • @F4BIO771
      @F4BIO771 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nope, first editions of blade are the stiffest

Most modern racquets today are so muted anyway, CV is no worse than any of the new techs that dampen vibrations in a lot of today's frames. People just love to jump on the bandwagon and dump on CV, but then turn around and praise a lot of the new racquets today that are just as muted, if not more.

v7 was the best one. v9 is totally different. it does not play good backends for some reason. the frame is too thick. so it is not blade any more. it is more like fat
