  • I had one ZGB zombie head left and gave in to the curiosity about how well the Principe would do against it... that was a mistake. But so was the one bad cut with terrible edge alignment on a thick branch that I did when testing the strength of the blade. Those two didn't go well together...
    In this video I also try blunt weapons, an axe, and the Mordhau ("murder stroke") with a sword on poor old Ivan.

      @Cliven Longsight No, I didn't miss the point.
      The point is that a real fighting sword has to be much more durable as in a real battle you are likely to hit shields, armour, and even other blades... REPEATEDLY. And if the edge would bend and chip that easy, it won't be of too much use.
      The geometry of that edge is simply inadequate. The wedge angle is much too small as the blade is too thin and thus, the edge is flimsy and fragile.

      Yeah ZT are designed to be freaking tanks, but they are not made for sword fighting. In a modern post apocalyptic contexte they would do just fine but i wouldn't fight against a real historical sword with a ZT.
      It's too heavy, and too short, their edge angle and blade geometry is more of an axe type. Very hard to damage yes but not really effective in a sword fight contexte.

    And hey, still got one perfectly fine edge to work with, and once blended, false edge cuts'll go just fine.

      Plus you have to cut so close because the sweet spot is right up by the hands. The benefit in a real world scenario is that it's also a good thrusting weapon if you want range. In a medieval battle your sword would probably be trash by the end anyway. Something like this would be great against enemies in gambeson with a bit of mail here and there.

    • @Kalivier
      @Kalivier 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Kaiser Franz von Lappen der 2. Yeah, but other swords from Albion like the Knecht didn't have this issue when he tested them. I know there are many things to consider in this situation but it is still a bit disappointing.

      Fineness is often close to delicacy. The levels of exactitude and precision it takes to tailor something for very specific tasks can often leave it weaker when it comes to work it wasn't designed for. Pushing the numbers to their limit usually leaves things that much closer to going over them.
      Having said that, the edge held up pretty well, regardless, and might not end up pretty, but it can be blended out without losing too much effectiveness.

    Thank you for introducing the Reaver Cleaver. I saw your video "Albion principe skull cutting" with the Principe and I was extremely disappointed. This is probably also due to the fact that a blade is ground to zero. So I'm going to buy something sturdier, like the Reaver Cleaver or the Panabas you suggested.
