My favorite Vera Miles films? Psycho, 23 Paces to Baker Street, The FBI Story, and The Wrong Man. Happy Belated Birthday to the now 90 year old Miss Miles (Born Vera Ralston, and a 1948 Miss America Pageant contestant). One of the prettier Hollywood blondes, and a very good actress at that.
Vera Miles made her last film appearance in 1995. She's retired now, 91 years old and living in Palm Desert, California. She is one of the last surviving Hollywood film stars from the 1950s. If she's lucky she'll live to be 100. Let's hope she does.
Just found this, thank u so much for this! Have always appreciated her work. A very talented lady. Also, music is lovely. BTW, she played on pilot episode of The Fugitive.

Re-watching this. Also love the pic at 6:05 from "A Touch of Larceny" with James Mason. An all time favorite. You can see why he would do anything to get her!
Seeing this video, I thought about how the American cinema from 1930s onwards has had the ability to bring out all these beautiful actresses. A carpet stellar of dozens and dozens of beautiful and talented performers. Vera Miles, I remember especially for her role in Psycho. Intense tribute!
I remember seeing Vera Miles on TV many years ago in the movie "Those Calloways", which was made by Walt Disney in 1965. Miss Miles was only 13 years older than Brandon de Wilde when she played his mom in this picture. Vera was born in 1929, while Mr. de Wilde was born in 1942. She was just 35 years old, and he was already 22. (He played a teenager about 16 in this film) Her husband and son gave her a full-length fur coat for Christmas. She took one look at her present and started bawling like a baby. This scene shows what a talented actress Vera Miles really was. She also appeared on a lot of TV shows from the 1950s to the 1980s.
I'm aware I don't have good set of eyes but when I look at actresses back in the day pictures I can clearly see the youth, the child look is still there. I don't recognize it as much in young actresses these days I have to place a photo to recognize them as a child. Is there any one out there that can relate to what I said. Maybe shed some light on subject. Maybe my eyes are worse off than I thought.
Vera Miles was born in Boise City, Oklahoma on August 23, 1929. She is a retired American actress who worked closely with Alfred Hitchcock, most notably as Lila Crane in the classic 1960 film Psycho, reprising the role in the 1983 sequel Psycho II. Other films in which she appeared include Tarzan's Hidden Jungle (1955), The Searchers (1956), Alfred Hitchcock's The Wrong Man (1956), A Touch of Larceny (1959), The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), Follow Me, Boys! (1966), Sergeant Ryker (1968) and Molly and Lawless John (1972). Today, August 23, 2020 Vera Miles celebrates her 91th birthday.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962).
Wow, nice job! I prefer the more mature Vera, 35+; her lovely face took on a very interesting, exotic quality in maturity. But these were some gorgeous pictures of her youth. My favorite is the one at the very beginning. And then at 5:18 & 5:21 -- the grown-up. Nice music too. Thanks so much!
I am getting obsessed with her beauty

That photo is breathtaking. Thank God for physical beauty. Inner is most important, true, but the outer can make observers feel appreciation and awe.
