This is the kind of lesson that makes James James, the quintessential TH-cam guitar instructor. The guy has a super good ear, and picks great songs...👌

Thanks for doing this one, James. Dandelion reminds me of Child of the Moon (my fave Stones tune)...for which you also did an excellent lesson. Losing Charlie is a gut punch, and it helps to keep the music alive. Thx.

I like you mentioning "Child of the Moon" as your fav' Stones tune ; my fav' - of the Decca period at least - is "Have you seen Your mother baby etc" but I love Mick's vocals on "Child of the Moon". Cool hearing other people discussing, well, obscure Stones songs. I'm a big fan of Between the Buttons, a 'poppy sort of Stones LP.

Very enjoyable analysis of that transitional psychedelic period of 1967.
Their Chicago blues influences were old news by late 1965, and it wasn’t until Beggar’s Banquet in late 1968 that they seemed to find a new footing to build upon.
Thanks for shining a light on this little gem of a song.

I'll have to check out that isolated vid. I hadn't really heard the acoustic on that track, mainly the rest of it -- harpsichord, Bill Wyman's bass, Charlie's drumming, the oboe or English horn in the middle, etc. Great lesson here. And looks like you're playing a Gibson Hummingbird -- just like Keith used.

I watched David Bennett talk about diminished chords and how the Beatles used them a LOT! Have the Stones ever had a diminished chord in a song? Also I notice Santanic only had 10 songs-USA albums usually had 12 so WE LOVE YOU/DANDELION should've been on that LP right? I know UK albums usually dropped the hit 45 from their albums, while in America, we wanted our hot hit ON THE LP! I prefer the original title of dandelion-sometimes happy, sometimes blue. I challenge ANYONE here to tell me what is being yelled at the start of child of the moon!
