This was fun, thanks Mrs James James for being such a good sport! My wife (correctly) picked my J-45 as her favourite of my guitars - don't have nearly as many and certainly none as cool as yours - but I do have a wife that understands the madness ;) Hope your recovery is going well. Cheers.

Another Privettricker Channel! This guy is a faceless guitar legend on youtube. He has hundreds of videos seamlessly cranking out songs just to show you how to do it right. Goes in an out, no talking and no ego, and whabang done. I actually noticed the James James channel today because I've watched soooooo many videos that I recognized this guys *hands* in a thumbnail on the side of a Breeders video I was watching, lol! Glad to see happy marriage on display in this video. Good content, good humans here. Really a lot of music fairy dust falls off these two. Sweet Gretsch, by the way ;)

11:25 Aaahhhh my ears are burning!! Sorry you 2 youngsters but by the time you heard Clapton he was set as a radio pop star. In the 60's and 70's he turned guitar on its ear as far as I'm concerned. He's a good singer, great song writer and great guitar player. Think of the first time you heard SRV and how different he was. Now he has 1000 clones and I can hardly listen to the original. But EC is still on my playlist.
Cream, Beano, Blind Faith, EC, 461 Ocean Blvd, Derek & Dominos, on the White Album, etc etc etc.

I saw Page and Plant on that 98 Tour in Denver. I was managing a blues club at the time, and had a guy named Lionel Young hosting our blues jam on Sunday nights. Lionel was and is a GREAT violin player. We show up to the concert, and lo and behold, Lionel is part of a 3 piece string ensemble backing up Page and Plant. Great show and one of my personal all time faves as well.

JD Simo's playing is "predictable" to me. I think Derek Trucks is as good as anyone living. Coverdale/Page was by FAR Page's best playing after Zeppelin, way better than anything he did with the Firm, except maybe Midnight Moonlight. And Lynyrd Skynyrd should have quit after Ronnie and Steve Gaines perished.

    • @jamesjames9275

I'm a huge fan of your husband, and very appreciative of his time and work that he puts into his videos. I had already told him earlier, that I would gladly give my two feet to have half the talent he has. I remember, in one of his older videos, him telling everybody that he used to tour quite a bit with various bands of his. You have a good catch in your husband. Supertalented, selfless and very giving of his talent and time to help other guitar players, with an amazing musical ear and talented playing. They have guitar players on You Tube, that don't half of your husbands talent, that are cocky. There is no reason for anybody, no matter how talented they are, to act like that, which is why your husband has many people that love his super talented playing and musical ear. I admire the hell out of your husband's playing, playing form, and musical ear. Are y'all from the South? Just curious, because I live in New Orleans, La, and we use the word Y'all alot. Just a contraction for You All, rather than you guys, or youse guys. Lol

I saw Eric Clapton last night in Tampa, and the concert was awesome! The arena was sold out, and the enthusiasm was tremendous. His band is excellent, but it IS his playing that people come to see and hear. His tone and emotive phrasing are fantastic. If you are filling arenas at 76 years-old, you must be doing something right.
He also played some new songs, and those sounded amazing as well. Cheers!

Love the Clapton comments. I thought he was great at one time. Mostly due to his use of sustain and volume. As far as lyrical content I agree 100%. He's only gotten worse as time went on. No originality in his chops. He did come up with great rythm hooks. e.g. Got to get better in a little while.

I traveled 8 hours the night before to attend the 1995 Plant & Page concert in México City,. That morning I was walking around in the city doing time and excited because that night I was going to see them in concert, when suddenly a limo parked just in front of me and from the back door gets out Jimmy Page. I just walked about 5 steps more to extend my hand and shake his hand. I told him "i traveled 8 hours last night to attend the concert tonite" we both talked for a while and walked into the Mercado de Artesanias. It was fantastic to me have been able to tell him how much I´ve enjoyed and admired his work.

Either way, sorry to hear that your other shoulder needed some TLC. I had my first shoulder operation at 24 so I feel your pain.
Misses JJ... you funny legend you. My mother taught me when I was young... (Hey mum who do you like better the Cult or Deep Purple.. and mum would say The Cult... I'd then ask why, in which her reply was because Ian is better looking.)
haha JJ mentions his favourite guitar but then mentions every other guitar is 2nd... clearly so he doesn't have to sell any.. smart move sir.
Misses JJ smart move listening to The Rolling Stones before seeing them, I bet you enjoyed the concert that much more.
JJ... you legend mate.. The first band that comes to mind as an Australian is AC/DC, should never have continued after Bon's death.

Awesome JJ《☆》Brilliant on Mrs JJs part👍Ima say Terry Cath was my favorite short lived rock guitarist. I saw The Firm in 94 or 95. They didn't get to play very much as they were an opening act for GreenDay◇¿. I was schooling my gf/babymama on who Jimmy Page & Paul Rodgers were as she is 10 years younger & a Country music fan. Thankfully my Son didn't inherit the Country gene🌴◇:*:◇🌴Greetings from Florida😎🎱☮🔊🖖👍

Nah, the Firm split in 1986. And beyond that, Jimmy Page is not an opening act for anyone. He'd never agree to that.

It seems to be how/when you catch them. I saw the 'Faces' tour in early 80's in LA, and I just remember Clapton's solid vibrato and commanding voice. Page was late and out of sorts. Jeff Beck was transcendent but I had to give that particular show to Clapton. However, at the end of the day Page will always be my all time #1 GOAT when it comes to overall creativity and vision as an artist and magician/musician...

What a charming lady! When you said "A very brief career" I thought you might go for Terry Kath for top rock guitarists.

If he’d lived a little longer, he’d be up there with Hendrix on most people’s lists.

Hendrix is my all round favorite guitarist. Clapton's style I see as tending to be more of a very accomplishest accompanist; He blends into the band more than Jimmy Hx & P do. I like Clapton's stuff after the Unplugged album more than his stuff previous to that. He seemed more settled in what he did well, not so driven to be the best. i can enjoy it for what it is.
Ron Wood is also an amazing talent in this tradition which a lot of British lead guitarists seem to adopt as a playing style. His work w Faces & Rod Stewart is top of the line.

I get in this relaxed and fuzzy/comfy kind of mode listening to you guys and watching the mid sections of "The King and Queen of my Small Screen" Don't know how you can resist holding those guitars, but its only temporary and you're doing the right thing for your arm. Take care!
