Take a peek inside a Broadway theater, circa 1935. There’s a Crook, a Con Man, and a carnival barker named Honest John. A lovesick Usher, a gold diggin' Hat Check Girl, and a feisty female reporter played by Irene Ware, the almost Miss Universe of 1929.
Trivia: Irene Ware was crowned Miss United States in 1929. That same year she was first runner-up for the title of Miss Universe at a pageant held in Galveston, Texas. The Miss Universe contest of the 1920s was not connected to the current Miss Universe system, which was launched in 1952.
This movie was swell, thank you! There's no background music, which makes the scenes stand out more. Great acting, and a fantastic story-line. I also love 1930s fashion.
