Theon's death was stupidly written, he ran to his death, he should've stayed to Bran's side to the end, Arya would've made it in time and he would've lived
That was mostly because his death happened early in season 7 episode 3 to be precise while yeah Arya killing him by stabbing him with the special dagger given to her in the same spot where the Night King was stabbed to become the undead threat he became while in front of the tree where she first received the dagger was symbolic and looked cool looking it kind of sucks as a great death of a villain due to happening so early in season 7. What they should've done if the writers wanted to have the Night King die early on in season 7 is save his death at the hands of Arya in that cool looking symbolic fashion for episode 10 aka the final episode of the first half of season 7 that we would've had 9 episodes to properly allow the undead menace to actually be a menace to be feared, that way when Arya finally killed him it would've been well worth it.
