I recommend printing this type of stuff from TPU, can stand a lot of heat and is practically impossible to break ! 98A or 95A Shore Hardness TPU would be great for this !
Printed one last night, worked great! Thank you very much for all the time put into everything you do and sharing it with all of us. It's greatly appreciated. Knowledge is power!
You could also use the lid of a spray can and cut it to fit. You dont get the fast removal but does help protect the lens, and hide accidental light switch activation They actually fit most flashlight heads, I did that to make a lens cover for my streamlight
I bought a sheet of plastic off amazon and did a similar thing because I couldn't justify spending $25 per light cap. It's not so pretty, and if you ND light at night, it won't block all of it, but it does well enough for those without 3D printers and took about 10 minutes. If I could come up with a way to make a ring around it like your 3D printed one, it'd be perfect. Maybe I could cut out more layers and glue them together to make the ring?
Just find a cap from something which fits in the front of your light with a little bit of room. Drill or burn a hole in the sides of the cap. I just did that to a windshield wiper fluid bottle cap and I spray painted it OD Green. I'm super happy and it was a fun project. Cost me nothing! I did it like this: th-cam.com/video/O8XS_KFIKPI/w-d-xo.html
@@thriftyoperator637 gotcha, I'll probably just paint mine with an outdoor rated (uv resistant) paint and call it done iv never tried PETG but I have had terrible luck deviating away from tried and true PLA/PLA+/PLACF/PVC
Great video. I was about to spend $170 on their website and I saw your video. Realizing I can get the printer for that price I’m now watching videos how do 3D printers work for beginners lol. Do you maybe know where we can find the file for the scope caps?
I am not sure but that should be a pretty easy design. Fusion360 is a free CAD software that isn’t too complicated. I bet you could design your own after a few tutorials.
@@thriftyoperator637 I hate you brother 🤣. I wanted to stay away from 3D printing and now…. Oh well I’m watching videos and gaining some knowledge. I appreciate the love.
I've been running a PLA plus one that I designed, for 6 months. Works great. Great video! Love your content!
Nice! Thanks

Finally got myself a 3D printer; this was one of the first things I printed. Thanks for the video & file!
@@unashamedly1776 nice! There’s s a ton of fun and useful files out there.

No problem. It’s all stuff I make for myself so it’s not much more work to share it.
It's like you knew I was about to buy 2 of these

@@thriftyoperator637 do you have an Etsy or website for your printed items?

This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing, I did something similar but it's nice to see others doing the same!
I’d love to support One Hundred Concepts but their caps for my specific lights are now running 48 dollars 😅
So thanks for this!
Yeah I’ve only heard good things about their stuff. Just don’t want to pay for it haha.
Thanks man!

Love it! You inspired me to learn modeling and make my own nvg iris covers
Nice! That’s what I like to hear!
Thanks!

Bad ass, dude! thank you for this!
Thanks, no problem
I printed one off of thingiverse, then borrowed a hair tie from my wife for the elastic cord.
Nice! I hadn’t thought about that.
You rock
Nice! Iv been considering getting one but didn't want to spend the money. Any reason PETG? I usually stick with PLA+
It doesn’t degrade in sunlight
