The QSP Parrot has been my favourite pickup this year. For £17.99/$20 even Nick Shabazz had to nitpick to find fault. I just went through testing the Ganzo Firebird which cost me £15.99 but for just £2 more the Parrot feels and in fact is leagues ahead of the Ganzo. Here in the U.K. the OKT RAT I & II go for around £50 and I’d put the Parrot in the same league for substantially less than a RAT Model II.
I have better knives in much better blade alloys but they all cost a heck of a lot more than £17.99.

It's boring, plain, and has no true pop. I love it. It's a tool that I wont mind abusing a bit and don't mind if I lose or gift it randomly to a friend. 440C? A past steel, but it still applies to a lot of work applications. Love it, Nick. Thanks for posting about it.

Blade shape reminds me of the KBar Dozier, another fine knife in that price range. I actually prefer the nicely done lock back of the Dozier, but the QSP seems dandy too as a Monday through Friday, take-to-work knife. Pleasant to see you reviewing some affordable stuff here. The 600 dollar knives are nice to look at, but I'm not taking one to work (or home from the store) at the price range.

Bougth four of these a couple of months ago, in the Netherlands by the way. for about 21 euro per piece.
Gave three knives away, and these guys were surprised by the quality, and are stil very satisfied.
I use mine as a real beater around the yard and the field, sharpened it once and its again razorsharp. Only thing that drives me crazy is the fact that the thumbstuds arent that thight anymore, and i cant fix that. But for the next hard and filthy job i wil take the Parrot again. Its a great tool.

This might be a good subject for a future video, Nick: suitable first knives for kids.
I was thinking about picking this up for my nephew when he turns 8 next spring, which is the same age I was when I got my first knife, a SAK. I managed not to cut myself, so hopefully he can do the same. A locking knife should be even safer than a slip joint, and at $20 it’s not the end of the world if he loses it.

You put the Nick in Pick. I am at the point that for me to pursue purchasing a knife. It must fill a role or replace a knife. My next knife an ultra thin slicing knife. TRM Atom will fill that role. I was getting a little nutty over knife collecting. I am a user, not a collector. After the Atom I will be looking for a good slip joint knife.

20 bucks allows for much less-than-perfect. I recall you at some point talked about cutting carpet on a concrete floor, and obviously not using valuable knives for that, this one however seems like a perfect fit, the classic hardware store knifes, when it goes dull it's in the trash.

Hi Nick. I usually love your reviews and highly respect your opinions. You are also the reason I delved into this hobby headfirst and all in but reviewing a knife that is another version of at least a dozen SRM’s cheap Bokers and a bunch of Ganzo’s that are just as good overall and just as cheap makes me wonder why you chose this knife. For a few bucks more you can get some knives that are iconic gems. CRJB and other new players. QSP has been around for a while and really brings nothing new to the table. I would much rather carry a Tangram Santa Fe. I know it’s $20.00 but like you said for a little more you can get a much better knife.

I think in the year of our lord 2023, the onus is on the video watcher to understand that a majority of youtube content featuring a product of some kind is an ad. Theres nothing wrong with that. If you enjoy the content, watch it, if not, the exit button is surely close by. Time for the audience to grow up a little bit and take some responsibility for themselves and their actions (purchases).
