Sparkster is the ultimate hero. Not saving the princess for wealth or fame, he doesn't even stay to get showered in appreciation. He just gets the job done, then leaves.

The Axel fight were he blows up the ship to suck you into outer space was especially creative.

Fun fact: The giant centipede boss is actually a giant spider, because in the beginning of the first level, you can see the castle and on that castle is a giant spider which is the level boss.

The Giant Pig Mech chase near the end of the game was really scary for me as a kid. Still the greatest game I've played!!

i mean maybe kids would find some of them kinda disturbing but this is nothing compared to some other games at the time, ones with some pretty detailed flesh-horror sprites and absurd bosses

There's a way easier way to do the first boss by just rocketing behind him from the start. He can't attack backwards, if you timed it right he won't backtrack onto you, and its bombs can't hit you.
Also a much faster way to do the serpent (which I think isn't more than a mini-boss, like the first one, the first actual boss is the third boss in this video), which requires you to know where the serpent will appear (its scripted) and stand ontop of its head wailing your sword at it, if done right the serpent will die even before the first jump.
Faster way to do the train: on the first phase jump on his face, attack twice with your sword and jump, rince and repeat, it dies before it reaches the end the first time. Second phase, evade the hands by timing your attacks when they come at you, you will do damage and receive none, standing on the right hand corner when he does the hand target attack just hack away and none of the attacks will hit you.Third phase is pretty much the video.
On the Gigantic Fish, you can just jump twice when the platforms are moving and then just run on the oposite direction of the fish and you won't fall as long as you time right the end of the phase.
This video actually shows all bosses and mini-bosses, since the only actual bosses are the centipede machine, Train Tank, Gigantic Mechanical Fish, Captain Fleagle and his Giant Junkbot, The Pig Robot Fight, Mothership, Emperor, Axl, and the Pig Star core, the rest is mini bosses.

Gigantic Mechanical fish is just that Robotnik fight in the fire world of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. They're nearly EXACTLY the same.

It's really weird. Sitting this close to the sprites in this definition, I can finally see that captain fleagle has blood dripping from his snout when you fight his mech.

The Mothership Boss is very simillar to the boss Mothership from Bucky o'hare before the part of the final boss
Bucky O'Hare had a lot of cross references with Rocket Knight Adventures and Gradius/Life Force. All great games.

In RK2 or Sparkster as it's called you can see the console struggles with the game. During boss explosions the game slows down to a crawl especially during the boss that looks like a stick man
I wanna think that the slow down was intended just to make it seem like a dramatic finish

@@mekaboo318 No dude. Mother 2 (Earthbound) didn't even come out before Rocket Knight Adventure. Rocket Knight Adventure came out in 1993, while Earthbound came out in 1994 and Mother 3 in 2006 (on the GBA).

How can I beat the Giant Pig Mech of Axel Gear without being hit? Can someone give me a strategy? Please help me, I lose something as 20 lives there and I can't go further.
Stefano Riva Wait for him to approach you then either counter-attack or try to get the drop on him. Being lower seems to give your punches more range, so use that to your advantage. Don't approach him yourself as he will just swing at you while you move into range. Good luck!

Game is fantastic & all the bosses are great but nothing tops that train boss.

You forgot to include the fight against Axel in Stage 6 where he fires a big-ass laser beam.
I loved this part 13:05 in the age of 10 when I made it that far at Stage 5. It's like playing Rock 'EM Sock 'Em in my childhood years.
