it WAS the 17" holy china. But there is a larger Sabian china on my kit that I am starting to love more. Considering a huge sabian china that I can ride on
I’ve still yet to find a china whose sound I like more than the humble 18” Wuhan, it goes for less than a hundred bucks but it’s just got the perfect prototypical china sound.
I just got a 19" Paragon China about a month ago, you might consider that if you're ever curious. I also got a 10" AA Holy China I use for a stack on top of a 10" HHX Splash.
@@louistotalcontrol The Paragon is very nice, I've been playing for 20 years, and have never owned, or even really played a China before it. So, I was pretty nervous when I got it, but, I'm so glad I did. As for the stack, I didn't really have a particular splash model in mind for it, but I initially tried an 8" AAX Splash, that didn't work so well. Then I found the 10" HHX, and that worked much better, no nasty metal-on-metal scraping overtones.
@@louistotalcontrol A stack video would be great though! I've been on the lookout for ideas for a bigger stack, now that I've got the smaller one taken care of. I've noticed it seems we share a few of the same tastes in cymbals, as I've played the 13" X-Celerator Hats, and 19" X-Plosion Fast Crash for years, and just picked up a pair of 15" Groove Hats (which are amazing) mere hours before discovering your channel. Keep up the good work, man!
@@redonred0924 I'll def. get on it - you may like to see my favourite large stack! Wow, you do have great taste in cymbals ;) massively appreciate the sub and kind works! Look forward to more chats in the future!!
My favorite china cymbal is not a china it’s a Zildjian 18” Swish without rivets ! A very sweet cymbal ! Wish I still have it ! My favorite I use all the time is a Sabian Carmine Appice Signature Series 18” China ! Good stuff !
I absolutely love Paiste cymbals, but somehow they just can't make china type similar to HHX 18" which I consider the perfect and reference china cymbal.
The 19” K Custom Hybrid was my favorite until I got the 21” Ultra Hammered China. That cymbal is a BEAST! I did just buy a 19” Holy China. This demo did it justice!
These are lovely! Have the 18” hhx myself as well as the 20” version, and a hand hammered 18” thin Chinese. Sabian do some quality Chinese cymbals. Also a fun little 12 zildjian oriental. Do the ozone’s hold up well? I was interested in one but heard they can crack or break easily
That's some quality choices you have right there! I guess anything with holes in it has the potential to break quicker - it also depends of how your stick technique is and whether you play into or away from your crashes. I have a HHX O-zone from ages ago and it still sounds great - yes, it has some cracks... but they add character ;)
Awesome roundup and good picks. I like my meinl classics custom dark 18", but it is unbearably loud. I am looking for a china that will open up at lower volumes (like a HHX evo crash for example). The holy china is supposed to be the loudest there is, but does it open up at reasonable volumes as well? I wish well stocked music stores were still a thing in my country. Any tips for lower volume chinas would be appreciated.
Appreciate the view! So the Holy China is still rather piercing at low volumes and may not be what you're looking for. I purchased the HHX 18" Chinese for a similar reason to what you described - it sounds well-rounded at lower volumes. I also hear the Paragon china is a hit. Maybe some Memphis Drum Store YT videos can help you further?
Be sure to let me know what YOUR favourite china cymbal is!

My top 3 China cymbals :
Paiste 2002 18" Novo
Paiste 2002 20" Novo
Paiste Rude 20" traditional China
I’ve still yet to find a china whose sound I like more than the humble 18” Wuhan, it goes for less than a hundred bucks but it’s just got the perfect prototypical china sound.
I bought myself the 19" holy china and I never owned any china cymbal ever. So this being my first china cymbal I ever owned, I really love it.
My favorite China cymbal is the 17" AA Holy China
21" Sabian AA Holy China, a total beast of a China.
19 paragon china in natural finish is my go-to time after time
Holy China for life! Breathless by AA made me buy it and I’ve been loving it ever since!
I just got a 19" Paragon China about a month ago, you might consider that if you're ever curious. I also got a 10" AA Holy China I use for a stack on top of a 10" HHX Splash.
I bet it sounds devastating & awesome! Cool stack combo - I’ll be shooting a stacks video soon!

This will sound funny, but one of my top 3 fav of all time chinese cymbals is the 18" Sabian XS20 brilliant chinese. Buttery and fast.
I prefer the HHX, but all 3 are great. Thanks
Just got a great deal on a second hand 18" HHX. It's gorgeous.
I own '18 HHX, great cymbal.
But also i think about '17 HHX Complex, i find it awesome.
I’ve got a 20” Supernatural Omega China and it is beautiful.
Dude Sabian makes some great chinas

I actually like the sound of all three of these China cymbals. However I wish they weren't all of one brand it makes me feel like, you know...
Glad you like all three! It’s ok to feel that way but it’s no secret on this channel that I endorse & love SABIAN🥳
I absolutely love Paiste cymbals, but somehow they just can't make china type similar to HHX 18" which I consider the perfect and reference china cymbal.
I prefer the *_Zildjian K Custom Dark_* series. I own these China cymbals
*_Zildjian 17" K Custom Dark China_*
*_Zildjian 19" K Custom Dark China_*
My favorite china is the Zildjian K Custom Hybrid China 19”, but your picks were great as well!
19" will sound huge! Glad you like my choices & thanks for watching!
The 19” K Custom Hybrid was my favorite until I got the 21” Ultra Hammered China. That cymbal is a BEAST! I did just buy a 19” Holy China. This demo did it justice!
Nice choices man 🙌🏻 got some decent bases covered as well with the three
Ta, Relf!!
My favourite china is Stagg Dh 18 ". Love the Aaxtreme 19 china too but It has too much volume. What is your snare here?
Thanks for watching - it’s a Tama Star Reserve Sendan snare… bit of a rare beast!
I like the 2nd one the most
Cool video thx man! My favorite though is Sabian HHX Zen China 20"... smooth, dark, can be quite agressive too! 🤟🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! You have a HHX Holy China??
@@louistotalcontrol yes! And I love it! I would say that you would like it too, if you didnt already tried it...
Amazing - the reason I ask with such enthusiasm is because it's not in the SABIAN catalogue. Do you have a custom one?
@@louistotalcontrol man, I read back my comment 🤦🏻♂️ I meant to say **ZEN** CHINA 🙈😆🤦🏻♂️
@@do8671 ah no worries - yeah, the Zen China is a beast!!
HH18” is the sound I prefer for a China.
I picked up a HH china a few years back - lovely & dark!
Love the sound of your drums, do you tune your rezo heads higher than your batter? Curious on how you tune thanks
Hiya! That's right, I crank the reso head and adjust the batter to taste. Take care!
AAX 18" and 20". Sound like a librarian shushing you.
That sounds quite polite.
I like Chinas that sound like a drunk sailor bashing a shifter against a ship hull

What are your favorite splash cymbals?
I need to make a follow up video on splashes - I have so many ah ha!!
Meinl Custom Dark 18"
